Beth has said that they did this so that they could make more styles of armor, particularly those that don't stop at the waist, but continue toward the knees. I realize that these could likely have been accomplished without the separation, but on the bright side, it cut down on objects to load!

SPARTAN ARMOR. and i dont mean the lame kind that the spartans of greece wear. i mean the armor the super awesome space marines in Halo wear..
then again that would be lame in Skyrim.
But yeah I like the cloaks idea. maybe changing up the look of some of the armors a little. it has been about 200 years after all. and it taked place in a different location.
A wider variety of teh fancy clothing. The selection in Oblivion sucked, and I always did like to wander around the cities looking my best.
I'd particularly like it if the finery followed more than three types (Red Velvet, Green Velvet, and then the cut that the blue, black n gold, and that one mixed one all shared.) Oh, and something in a nice burgandy or plum would be splendid.

And eternity in an hour.

well leather is typically brown or black, maybe even a white but you cant get that much variation off of an animal hide. But for metal armors It might be possible to paint over the steel color.
Anyways I do hope to see armor suited specifically to each species, like all elves get varying forms of elven armor, Argonians get armor suited for under water use, orcs get armor that doesn’t restrict swinging motions and so on.

I like this idea.
Even if it is only to alter the shade. Just allows some differences.
From light brown almost white right through to dark brown almost black.

Leather turns brown through the chemical reaction which turns animal hide into leather, but leather will take on color from dyes.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
I want three things,
1. cloaks wearable with armor.
2. ability to make one legendary/unique item of each item type (sword/mace/shield/armor) just basically pick the model i want it to look like a 6000 soul charge on it and like 4/5 enchantment slots depending on the strengths of the enchantments.
3. ability to "upgrade" armors think same model, but superior materials like a leather armor model with glass armor stats just cuz in oblivion i loved the leather armor but it was terrible lol until you got the dark brotherhood armor, but i didnt realy enjoy the look of it. just customizability, i always thot oblivion glass armor was ugly as [&@%!] but i would die too fast against bandits in ebony unless i was wearing it haha.
i want the crafting to be have just 3 options, model, colour, material. that would be great
model -> how it looks in game, colour-> does nothing really, just to look even cooler with your favourite enchants material-> sets the stats of the item. done. would be the best crafting ever in a game imo
oh and however many full soul gems you have effects how many effects you can put on, 1 effect per soul gem, if u have 3 grand soul gems with grand souls you can add 3 effects with say a 10 magnitude frost/fire/lightning

One reason I didn't consider this for Skyrim is because such an end was obtainable in Oblivion by enchanting the armor with any of the various Shield effects available via the Altar of Enchanting or an appropriate Sigil Stone.
Thanks to the School of Alteration, you can "upgrade" a suit of Leather armor in Oblivion so that it provides armor protection superior to that of a full suit of plain Ebony.

Visual upgrades would be nice. Imagine the Dark Brotherhood gear getting a few extra armour pads here and there (if you completed the bonus of the mission, that is) or an added face mask (like the one they had in Morrowind). Maybe even red lines or marks somewhere in your armour that indicate the amount of targets you've killed!
What's a cloak?
As far as I know, it's a cape with a hood. Ever seen Lord of the Rings? The main characters had cloaks on most of the time.
haha, Harry Potter ruined the cloak's good name. Fancy just making it a magic blanket....
On-Topic.
I think the dying of clothing is a great idea. I don't really care about armour colour, but being able to find clothes that look good, then make them a good colour aswell would be splendiferous!

In the old days, if you wanted to break into a house or murder someone in the streets, a hooded cape went a long way to conceal both your face and your figure, thus preventing any witnesses from giving a clear description.
For this reason, both in fantasy and in sci-fi, the word 'cloak' has come to represent an instrument of concealment.

Excuse me, but wasn't the ability to wear cloaks over armour in Morrowind? If it was, it should return. I'd be a happy camper if I had a Halberd in Skyrim, but I also want the ability to dye cloaks any colour with plants found in the wild or dyes from shops.

I get what your saying but I think they don't really have like each race having a set armor anymore I think they kind of have dissolved into the Empire so most of them lost their traditions and heritage
I'm hoping for something sort of like the darker dyed clothes from Assassin's Creed, without the hood.
Those suits Ezio wears look really warm. Something similar to that could work, I think. I don't want a direct rip-off from AC of course, but some nice clothes like that with functionality as armor as well would make me quite happy.
Otherwise, I hope for stuff that looks GOOD. XD The armor only looked good to me in Oblivion when it was Steel, Ebony, Dwarven, or Mithril. I'm hoping we can get some stuff that makes us look badass and still gives decent stat boosts.
And no more gloves that cover the fist like for steel armor in Oblivion. I see the practicality in it, but it just looks stupid.
