Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
Indeed.
But also know that there are other areas that Telvanni will probably want to do mischief in.
Like the Sacred City of Necrom, just nearby the border of the Telvannis District. Or maybe some more Temple-hate quests, trying to conquer the Council of Port Telvannis; and finally trying to take control of the mainland Telvanni.
The Temple quests seem mostly centered in making Telvannis a pro-Temple location, and considering you actually rallying people to support the Temple.
And there is one city in the Antelluvian Secrets (Tel Mothrivra) that actually makes it completely illegal to not only pray to the shrines, but there is one Temple-priest. There is also a girl whom is "sick", and asks you to get the help from the Tribunal Temple.
So, I suppose the Tribunal Temple and House Telvanni will have their on going war in Telvannis District and the Sacred East.
What do you people think?

I don't know if House Telvanni's influence is that great in Necrom, even though they are geographically close. Saying that, TR really has run with the House Telvanni fandom in the community, so I wouldn't be surprised if House Telvanni were 'over represented' by the mods. I mean, House Telvanni is popular, ergo the TR team doing Telvannis first and making two distinct Telvvani maps, compared to 1 for Houses Dres and Redoran. Makes sense in a way.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
I don't see the appeal in Telvanni.
Generally Telvanni would just accept whomever is stronger, plot to overthrow, hold slaves, and deem others as unworthy until they join up with Telvanni.
Tevlanni has the ego of a cartoon villain but the class of animaniacs.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
Hlaalu has holdings up and down a great portion of the western bank of the river Thirr, basically just south of Seyda Neen extending practically to the mouth of the river where their great city Narsis stands.OblivionDuruza wrote:See, that's another thing. By Lore, I'd call Hlaalu's Distirct Narsis District, and I'd have it placed more to the north, in the crook of the Thir river, not down in the south, which is more swamp and Dres area.
Every Great House is accurately and tastefully represented in Tamriel Rebuilt. Necrom is a Temple city. Because of the Temple's marriage to Indoril, theirs is the greatest House presence in the City of Mourning. Telvanni is not overrepresented from what I have seen playing and exploring the TR dev files.OblivionDuruza wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if House Telvanni were 'over represented' by the mods.
I have several things I'd like to share here about TR, but I'll have to wait until after I am cleared to post links etc etc.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
I'm aware of House Hlaalu's holdings in Narsis District, however other non-TR maps depict Narsis in a more central location, including some of Beth's own. I'll add a link when I get home. By 'it' I meant Narsis, not the District.
On House Telvanni, I was referring to the large Telvanni mod fan-base, which is reason enough for TR to create the Telvanni lands first, and to dedicate time to it.
Also, welcome to the forums! I'll see if I can't get a mod to add you early so you can post links.

.ini is a file extension as Scoz said. Typing < *.ini > into search should give you all the ini files in the area you're searching, iirc.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
I'm not sure if it will work, but I did look on a number of other Forums, including the TR one, and one suggestion was to do the following:
Open the Morrowind.ini file present in your Morrowind directory and add this line to the [Archives] section:
where X is the next available number. If you don't have any other mods installed that use BSA files, you should see this once the above line is added:

Open the Morrowind.ini file present in your Morrowind directory and add this line to the [Archives] section:
Code: Select all
Archive X=TR_Data.bsaCode: Select all
[Archives]
Archive 0=Tribunal.bsa
Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa
Archive 2=TR_Data.bsa-

Not so much news, but Scozz you should check out some of these videos. My favorites are definitely the Hlaalu/Indoril Thir River and the Hlaalu Heartland. I think they used MGSO when they made the videos, but they really do show off how stunning the finish TR exterior claims have come out.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
Even if they do, they've already accomplished so much. From what I understand, they've finished all their external claims and most, in not all of their internal ones. That seems, at least to my skill set, to be the most significant stuff out of the way. Even now we have an entire Morrowind landmass and cities, iirc. Now we need quests and NPCs and what not.
Also, a question, anyone know what on earth is going on with this Dres Vampire Council idea? I know Sload didn't believe there was a large or larger than proportionate Vampire presence in House Dres and I've not really seen anything to indicate that Vampirism was a significant aspect of the House. I do hope they don't go/haven't gone through with it.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
Just realise,d there's a new status update/announcement over at the Tamriel Rebuilt site:
Haplo wrote:2011 in Review (3. Feb 12 12:20)

It has been a while, hasn't it? While Tamriel Rebuilt wasn't able to release Sacred East or an updated Antediluvian Secrets or Telvannis in 2011, that doesn't mean the project just sat on its hands the whole time! It has been a tumultuous year with a lot of work going on behind the scenes. We changed how we work with quests in the middle of a release, and have been tweaking that new process ever since. Below is a list of highlights from the past year.
---
March 20th: TR completes the final exterior claim for our Heartland release. This is a huge milestone for the project, because it's a point at which we can consider Alpha releases.
April 3rd: Map 3 Detailing Claim 7 is finished, bringing Sacred East another step closer to completion.
April 19th: Map 3 Detailing Claim 4East is finished, ending the Claim Map 3 work on our Sacred East release. At this point, only work left on the Claim Map 2 section of Sacred East (ie Necrom and Dun Akafell) remains.
June 30th: Why is promoted to be our new Head of Quests. Why has been an integral part of our quests department and TR was glad to see him promoted to a leadership capacity.
July 10th: TR releases an exterior-only Alpha of Claim Map 4, which includes most of the Heartland release, and parts of Veloth as well. If you missed it, check it out here! Be sure to follow all of the important instructions on installation.
August 8th: Baan Malur (Blacklight, as Imperials call it) is completed! It is currently undergoing review and is one of the most amazing sights to behold in any Elder Scrolls game to date, including Skyrim. Once it passes final review, it will be merged into Claim Map 5, and our Veloth release will be one giant step closer to a finished state.![]()
At some point in 2011: We added a handy TR Chat link to the top bar of our website, which gives everyone easy access to our IRC channel, where we hold a lot of discussion and generally just hang out and have fun. WARNING: #tamriel (our channel) is Not Safe For Work. Please note that at the time of this posting, the ChatSpike server appears to be down.
---
It may sound a bit familiar, but Sacred East is just around the corner! We are measuring the distance to release in inches, and there are only a handful left. We are inching ever closer to the time when we can release our best work yet, which will also include many quests for Antediluvian Secrets, as well as a whole host of bug fixes and tweaks to improve our previously released work (both AS and Telvanni). Here's to a bright 2012!

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
All I can think about is Team Gizka. They are are the classic example of "It needs to be perfect before we can release it." If you aim for perfection, you fail even before you start. If you mod a great mod, and have great support for any bugs that are found, you will release a great product.
I think the problem with TR is they need to release it while there are people who still care about it (It's been 10 years). I don't know how many of those people are left.
I hope I'm wrong, but this story looks familiar.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
That definitely rings true, but I think Tamriel Rebuilt is growing closer and closer to completion, so hopefully it will not be too long before they start making more consistent releases. If I recall correctly, they have finished all their exterior claims, but need to finish interior claims, questing, population, etc. I wish they'd release some of their basic claims work so that the public had a working mainland Morrowind at some stage, even if it were fairly empty.

I was actually just checking Tamriel Rebuilt out for more news yesterday (great minds they say). So far, no news to report, unless I've missed something.
On the subject, I must admit the first time round I never really got into TR, but now I've picked Morrowind back up over the holidays, I plan to really delve into it!

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
Wow, that is what I call a disappointment... I got all excited about TR, waterwalked all the way across the Inner Sea, took the first step on brand new, unexplored land, and... got an error message (can't find the sound file "ornada moan.wav" or something like that). And it pops up every three seconds, because apparently those ornadas, whatever they are, like to moan a lot. :/
Any ideas, folks?
Edit: Nevermind, problem solved. Turns out I'm an idiot who doesn't know how to properly unpack an archive, and the path to the files was wrong. Fixed that, now ornadas can moan as much as they like.
Also, two minutes after landing I got jumped by some drug dealers in hoods (if I had a pack guar with me, they'd probably try to steal the hubcaps). Feels like home.

Re: The Unofficial Tamriel Rebuilt thread
It may also be due to the differing process involved. I think TR made some advances in how they were able to craft the heightmaps, etc which sped up the process of exteriors. Still, we have been really close to two big new releases for that long, they simply must be on the verge of release!

So yeah, necro- and double- posting, but this thread is by far the most appropriate. TR just released a showcase/trailer for Almalexia, the upcoming (not sure when, but looking like 2014) TR Update #4. Definitely looking very good!

Noticed in the description of the video after I posted here, that they did note that the dancing is probably not going to be included in the release
Have to agree with you though, it looks incredible, and as soon as the next update launches I plan to try and do an LP of the Indoril section, provided it ships with enough quests/content.
