Re: Races
There already is a "Dwarven" race in TES. Although they're just another kind of Elves and have disappeared a long, long time ago.

Re: Races
There really is no need for a Dwarven race in TES. If you go by traditional means there is always Men, Mer, and Dwarves. In TES the Dwarves would essentially be a part of Men or Elves or maybe a mixture of both but even then we have the Bretons already. In TES Dwarves in my eyes are replaced by the Beast races like the Khajiit. No offense to the Dwarves but TES cleverly mixes in their attributes into existing races for example the Orcs (A type of Mer) are renowned for their craftsmanship of armor -- a trait normally given to dwarven races. Or the small height being attributed to the aforementioned Dwemer even though we know this to not be true the Dwemer were normal sized.

Re: Races
So a cross breed between a Bosmer and a Nord? But back to the main subject, the Dwemer race is all but dead in Morrowind, and I doubt that 200 years later they found a female one, so no, Dwarfs won't be playable. (unless someone mods it...)SilentPsycho wrote:You forgot the Scottish accent.legoless wrote:Give a Bosmer a beard, a hammer and an alcohol problem. There's your dwarf.

The Dwemer weren't dwarves in the way he is mentioning.ZeRoc wrote:So a cross breed between a Bosmer and a Nord? Sorry to the author of this topic but there is no 3-4 ft tall people in TES.
If you go by actual Scandinavian mythology if I am not mistaken Dwarves were also known as Dark Elves.
So if you want to be technical the Dunmer are the closest thing to a Dwarf he is getting.

Re: Races
By that reasoning, the Dwemer as the closest, as they are actually called "Dwarves". I've never heard of a dwarf being called a dark elf.Ysmir wrote:If you go by actual Scandinavian mythology if I am not mistaken Dwarves were also known as Dark Elves.

Re: Races
In TES lore, the Dwemer were agnostic steampunk technophiles who believed in the power of their own craftsmanship and ingenuity over that of supernatural intervention. They were also one of a very few races who knew how to use ferrets as an effective instrument of war.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Yeah, the Dwemer went byebye though, unless they just did a really really good job of hiding. Which, I suppose is possible. We all thought the Falmer were gone until someone saw them via demo as creepy under-dwellers. So they made a lore-appropriate revival.
Although that trick being pulled once, it might not happen again. Most likely not. Very improbable.

Re: Races
Blue people have appeared in three games so far, so it wasn't too much of a shock that the Falmer resurfaced. Nor would it be lore-breaking if the Dwemer returned, as most of the information on their disappearance is conflicting.AeraDunmerMoon wrote: Yeah, the Dwemer went byebye though, unless they just did a really really good job of hiding. Re: Races
If it makes you feel any better there's supposedly Dwemer ruins in Skyrim like there was in Marrowind. But I don't know what or even if the Dwemer will play a part in the story.gerhardvh wrote:Played Oblivion, am a great fan of Lord of the Rings. How about adding some dwarves or a dwarven race in the Elder scrolls.

Re: Races
there was a dwemer in morrowind. according to lore he is the last remaining dwarf and is super obese and does not age due to his inflection of the corpus disease. he does not know what happned to his race and the only reason why he is still here is because he was in the outerrealms when all of the dwemer vanished.

Re: Races
Save Yagrum Bagarn in Morrowind, all the Dwemer have been wiped out. There may be a few still alive somewhere, but I doubt there will be any colonies of them still going about their business. I'm actually hoping they don't return, I like the mystery behind their disappearance. Hopefully we can discover a bit more about them, as there was never much info except a few books.La-Paloma wrote:With the confirmed return of centurions in Skyrim, are they just protecting Dwemer ruins ? TO be honest I doubt they will reveal if there are any Dwemer in the game, they do need to leave a few surprises in after all.

A very very short Nord is basically a dwarf
