Pandora: Mass Effect Roleplay

Post by Arch-Mage Matt »

No one needs to know they exist.
No one wants to know they exist.
It was known as Operation: Pandora twenty years ago. A single Asari, Turian, Salarian, Human, Quarian, Drell, and Krogan were selected by their homeworlds to perform a top secret mission. To this day, it is classified what those people did, but they were successful, and a secret government branch was created based on the idea that all races can in fact work together to defeat a greater evil. That was the Pandora Branch.

Only a handful of people alive today know of Pandora. The Council, and a few representatives from each known race, government associated or not. Not even the spectres are told of Pandora's existence. In fact, Pandora is contacted when the Council believes that the spectres cannot be trusted.

And you? You have been chosen. Pandora is about to undergo it's biggest mission in its brief existence. And they need you.

_____

You are to create a character. This character is going to be chosen to serve a secret underground branch called Pandora, so your character is good at what he does. He's damn near the best at what he does, he knows it, and Pandora knows it.

For example, your character CAN be (But is not limited to): A doctor, famous commander, scientist, war hero, famous mercenary, famous outlaw or slaver or raider, even celebrity or billionaire businessperson.

Your character CANNOT be: A lowly grunt with a knack for strategic warfare, an intern studying under a famous doctor, a Citadel janitor who practices with a pistol in his spare time and happens to be amazing at it.

Everyone who joins is going to choose from this list of races. Sorry, but there is only one race per character. I.E. if Bob chose to play a Turian, Ralph can't play a Turian. If we have enough players that all the races have been chosen, then I'll reset the list. (I'm playing a human)

Races:

Asari
Turian
Salarian
Quarian
Krogan
Drell
Batarian

Possible Races

These races will be harder to play as and you'll need to commit, but they are not required like the above races.

Vorcha
Geth
Hanar

Unique things to know about this roleplay:

Your character, using a special Pandora government granted power, can recruit anyone into their personal team and then control them. They will be stationed at a base introduced through the RP when not controlled. You can recruit any character I introduce, but can't control more than five people.

Your characters have three special advisers that will help you along individual missions. Be nice to them and hope you don't get the bad one.

Your character is a law enforcement official, and can make arrests, etc.

You can create side characters, especially when you introduce your character.

What you do: Create a character and give us some info on him/her. What makes him/her special? Why will Pandora seek to recruit this person?

Name: Gane Kaal

Species: Turian

Gender: Male

Class: Soldier

Specific Skills: A qualified expert in most available assault weapons, although partial to assault rifles and pistols in particular. Excellent strategist and skilled stealth operator.

Appearance: A good bit taller than the average for a male Turian; dark gray scales, white face-paint.

Gear: Lightweith Sirta Foundation off-duty armor; modified Striker 7 pistol

Bio: Kaal served extensively in the Turian military from a young age, rapidly attaining a level of strategic excellence and combat prowess that pleasingly surprised his superiors. He was nearly immediately promoted to the position of First Officer on a Citadel Fleet ship; within several years, he had been promoted further, to Captain. Kaal suffered a falling out with his commanding officers, however, in a series of events blatantly uncommon in the Turian military; he eventually learned of a plan that would have him eliminated through the destruction of his ship, and, after much deliberation, opted to disappear from the military service. Kaal lived, essentially, as a fugitive for the next several years, purchasing a smaller, more maneuverable ship and becoming a frequent visitor to dangerous locations such as Omega. He gained immense notoriety as a criminal, so much so that his former commanders postponed their efforts to capture him- they deemed the pursuit a waste of resources, once having realized the scope of his operations and their inability to properly track his location and communications.

Actually your character isn't recruited by Pandora yet, sorry if that's unclear.

Prepare for a lot of vague references to the "defeat of the reapers."

Most players, except for the Asari and Krogan, will have been born after the events of Mass Effect.

It's relevant to the story.
PerPenger wrote:Any more lore we should know about? Is the genophage still in effect, for example?
The Genophage is still in effect. During the events of the Reaper War, a new genophage disease was spread among the Krogan people in order to assure their cooperation. This disease was predicted to weaken over time. Now, one in three Krogan survive childbirth.

The Quarians chose to make an alliance with the Geth. The Geth agreed to leave the Quarian homeworld and populate a massive space station built by the Quarians. The Quarians were made a Council Race. It is a widely controversial topic whether to make the Geth a council race as well.

Yes, but I assume 7 people won't join and not joining won't help the roleplay start.

Name: Turtan Grelm
Species: Krogan
Gender: Male
Class: Soldier
Specific skills: Mainly trained in melee-combat, is pretty agile for a krogan. Is also good with assault-rifles and shotguns, like most of his people.
Appearance: Lightly built, for a Krogan that is. Hard, dark scales and his skin has a slightly more green tone than most.
Gear: Wears shield-penetrating gloves at all times, as well as an assault-rifle and a shotgun. His armor is lighter than the standard krogan models, painted about like this.
Bio: Grelm was born on the day the Reaper Wars ended. Spent his entire life on Tuchanka, joining clan Turtan at a young age. He proved very able, and his unusual combat-style has granted him both admiration and hate. Now he is the leader of clan Turtan, the highest opposition to clan Urdnot's rule on Tuchanka.
