Please explain?

Post by wise_ginger_fox »

After viewing the new screen shots which looks awesome btw, and also thinking about the story plot that you are "The Dragon Born". Haven't all decendents of Tiber Septum been human(ish) character's/people (nords, britons etc). If you are part of that bloodkine or distant relation hoe can you be an Orc or Argonian for example. Surely had you been some form of relation your culture/race would be diluted or mixed?

Sorry for picking holes but my knowledge of lore isn't vast so please set on the right path.

Been covered already in a few threads; basically the Septim line isn't the only line of Dragonborn, and since they were simply blessed on the whims of an Aedra to begin with then there's no reason new lines of dragonborn couldn't have surfaced.

Alessia, Reman and the others that where favoured of Akatosh simply used Cyrodiil as a means to legitimise their claim to the thrown, Reman claimed the Cyrodiil name for that purpose. All where Dragon born but I seriously doubt they where related.

Think of it this way, every time an empire crumbles, a new dragon arises and starts a new chapter, the player is probably going to be the next Tiber Septim.

So in theory, and I use that term loosely, you in effect are creating a new chapter in lore that will not be followed but manipulated to fit potentially a future story line beyond skyrim

It's what's been happening with the other games, The main character shapes a lot of lore in his/her life.

The player isn't a septim. This we do know. Martin was the last heir, we played an entire game that explained to us this very fact. I know you didn't say that the player is, but some people seem confused about this, somehow..

So then what is he saying?

Also no we don't know if he is the last heir,
its highly unlikely that there was no point in history where there was more then one kid who had a kid
ect
he is that last KNOWN one but it would not surpise me if there was another distain relation out there
if the emproor can have a son no one knows about for 15+ years i see no logical reasson to say none of the others ever did

Last known one, sure, but:
The illegitimate son of Uriel Septim VII and a mysterious mother by the name of Gemile, Martin was spirited away as an infant by Jauffre, the Grand Master of the Blades. As a young man, Martin worshipped Sanguine, before turning away from Daedric Worship after tragedy befell him, and becoming a Priest in the Kvatch chapel. When Uriel Septim VII and his heirs were assassinated by the Mythic Dawn, a Daedric Cult, Martin became the last remaining Septim, forcing Jauffre to tell Martin of his parenthood. Martin fought against the Mythic Dawn in a struggle to keep Mehrunes Dagon from controlling the mortal plane. The fight would eventually claim Martin's life as his body was consumed when Akatosh appeared and defeated Mehrunes Dagon, but his sacrifice ensured that the forces of Oblivion could never again threaten Tamriel. Because of this sacrifice, Martin was proclaimed as the greatest of all the Septims by some.

Or how about this:
Uriel Septim VII and all of his known heirs were assassinated. Shortly afterward, Oblivion gates to the Deadlands realm opened across Tamriel and poured out Daedra as the result of a fanatical Mehrunes Dagon worshipping cult known as the Mythic Dawn. Widespread devastation and casualties resulted across entire provinces, including Cyrodiil and Morrowind. Many of the old holds in Skyrim were destroyed. The city of Kvatch was entirely destroyed. The Empire was near collapse, but Uriel VII's illegitimate son, Martin Septim, ended the invasion with the help of a mysterious hero. The Amulet of Kings and Martin Septim, the last of the Septim bloodline, were lost. This event marked the end of the Third Era.
Not trying to be rude... But I think you missed some of the plot of TES 4

You mean like how before you go to Jaufre there are no heirs at least known to anyone?

it would not be the first story to say last heir then show a new heir later on.
and thats true, we use lore as we know, as far as we know he was the last there for we say that

we have hard many times our lore says soemthing and then is proven wrong

You are postulating that the Mythic dawn wasn't actually trying to end the Septim bloodline?

If they were really trying to end the Septim they wouldn't leave that possibility open would they?

Anyone (human) could be related to the Septims for that matter, but after a while it'll be so far of the main bloodline that it is completely irrelevant.

It has been made quite clear that it is the main bloodline that matters, otherwise most of the plot of Oblivion would become extraneous. Would Bethesda want that? Not too sure about that.

Since they already pulled the "hidden away heir" card I doubt they're going to do that again for some time. anyway, 200 years is a long time to keep a bloodline pure in secret...

the problem with this is their have been empros who are NOT directly related and the dragon fires still burnt then.
it dose not have to be pure
can you shoe me any proof that it dose have to be pure?

Stop arguing guys. We've already established that you do not need to be a Septim to be a Dragonborn, it doesn't matter.

But the bloodline wasn't ended was it? It is true that no one has been directly related to Tiber Septim for a long time, but the blood was still there somewhere wasn't it?

Tell me what the purpose of hunting down every last Septim was, if they had no way of accomplishing their goal due to interbreeding and incredibly distant cousins.

Also, why would bethesda make the a major plotpoint of a previous installment not matter in the next installment?

I have to post this last one, sorry Argonanza.

Some of you get so hooked on "Dragonborn" it just means you've been anointed by the gods -- born with the soul of a dragon. Sure Skyrim might have something to do with the Septim dynasty but it's not the focus of the game. The hero I believe couldn't be an emperor simply cause he doesn't have the actual history. Tiber had a life a name everyone would know and a plan. we on the other hand have a shady/no past, no recorded name (Yeah Tamriel is gonna be ruled by someone named Killer Bee point is we create our name unlike in Redguard where we played Cyrus) all we have is we are born with the soul of a dragon. I DO believe we will be the one help unite the empire or at least help reestablish it to prominence as for actually ruling as an emperor? No we won't.

Yes mate, the chances are TES 6 will refer to the Skyrim Dragon Board as a founder of a new empirer but we probably will not see that in Skyrim. At best I expect the player to become King of Skyim and the rest will be written in to lore books for TES 6 just as has been for all the other dragonborn based empires.

We may see Akatosh fall from grace now the amulet of kings has gone and people do not need to worship Akatosh to keep up the barries, some other god or daedra may become predominant now. Especially in Skyrim.

Thanks for the constructive answers guys I think I get it now. After reading the posted replies a "Dragon Born" is essentially the chosen one chosen by destiny and the gods to rise up and save the realms that be from what ever the peril. And by doing this they shape the future of the Lore......... Right?
