question about umbra?
question about umbra?
Ok so I'm trying to finish up all daedra quest and the blood of the daedra so far I have umbra and I haven't returned to clavicus viles shrine to return the sword , so question is, is it worth finishing this quest? Obviously if u leave the quest unfinished u have a badass sword that weighs 0! But u can't finish the last shrine quest, I know I can keep the sword and finish this quest and it will no longer be a quest item and have weight. So is the mask u get instead worth it? Is the artifact u get from the last quest worth doing? Just would love some opionions from others who have done these quests........thanx!
Re: question about umbra?
The Quest Article sums it up pretty good: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Clavicus_Vile#Notes
This is the Quest Reward you get form Hermaeus Mora's Daedric Shrine quest: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oghma_Infinium
It is definatley worth doing (although it can be a bit buggy), but has it's best value, after you have reached the Max Level for your Character, as it can allow you to increase up to three more Levels, if you have the correct Major Skills to allow this to happen.
That is, if you plan on gaining the most Levels the game will allow you to have?
If you wish to achieve 100% completion, you must return the sword Umbra to Clavicus. This is the only way to obtain the Masque of Clavicus Vile, which is one of the 15 items that count towards the "Artifacts Found" statistic.
Keep the sword. The disadvantages to this approach are:
- Clavicus Vile's followers do not like you.
- You do not have a Daedric artifact to use for the Blood of the Daedra quest (although any of the other 14 artifacts can be used instead).
- Umbra ceases to be a quest item, in particular it is now 45 pounds in weight instead of 0.
- Clavicus will become outraged with you, but although he threatens you, there are no visible repercussions in-game
...The only real drawback, it that Umbra is no longer "0 Weight".Whichever route you choose, this quest is officially complete, and you are rid of Barbas. Keeping Umbra does not prevent you from doing Hermaeus Mora's quest.

Re: question about umbra?
I would just complete the quest, if I were you. The advantages outweight the disadvantages.
Btw, I couldn't complete the quest because the game crashed when I handed in the sword
... So I went to a friend and completed it there.

Keeping Umbra doesn't stop you from doing the final Daedra shrine quest.
Just tell Clavicus Vile to stick it if you want to keep the sword.

By all means keep Umbra, but be warned that doing so also means you're forever stuck "walking the dog" for old man Clavicus. Never mind, eh? At least it's well-behaved. It doesn't "yank on the leash", scent mark every tree, or bark at or chase horses, and there's no need to carry a "pooper scooper". Also gives you a laugh every time you pass the shrine, because its master looks decidedly effeminate with his hand drooping in mid-air.
