Your final verdict on cloaks/capes?

Post by Frost Mage »

Do you think that Bethy will, at this point in development, put in cloaks and/or capes? I'm sorry I've made such a big deal over this the past few months but I think making an assassin with a dark history would be MUCH easier while wearing a black cloak. Then again, maybe they ALREADY have it in but just haven't made a big deal out of it. Your thoughts?

Personally I hope they have included cloaks and capes! I noramally play a ranger character and a cloak is vital...also in such a cold place as Skyrim, it would seem kind of obvious to put them it :|

are some of the threads in which cloaks and capes are discussed.

Eventually they have been confirmed
One screen shows the PC (wearing a cloak hooded robe with a pouch) fighting a draugr wearing a wicked looking helmet with two humongous horns on the top, completely bathed in flames (perhaps from the PC's spell).
So what is exactly the purpose of creating this thread? :?:

Cloaks, robes you can wear over your armor, is what people are wishing for. They haven't been confirmed yet. We all know that regular robes will be in the game.

Unless they have reasonable cloth physics, I don't think they'll be in. And Beth for whatever reason (Technical capacity?) doesn't tend to include physics on clothes. So unless they're grossly stiff, I don't see them being in. :?

If the physics work. When you run it would need to move accordingly, if you twist and turn. Also if you are kneeling/crouching. There are heaps of things to cover and implement. Swimming?
Stiff cloaks/capes suck the hard one, big time. So get them right, or leave it out.

My opinion is No Capes ! I'd rather have more different armor types than capes.

It'd be a nice inclusion, but i'd rather customisable armour n that honestly. Which isn't in. Sadly.

Cloaks I would love to see. I wouldn't particularly mind if they're "built in" to the armour for performance reasons, so long as you can choose colour and maybe a heraldry if you want to be a champion of the empire or such.

Robes over armour I'm not as fussy about, I think it may be better implemented as a style of armour; i.e - you choose to wear Steel Armour, then have it customised so it incorporates a robe over the top, for a more impressive battle-mage look.

I think the determining factor on the ways we're limited with regards to clothes will be on the technical side; we already know they've made armour "one piece" (combined cuirass and greaves) for performance reasons, so it would see strange for them to do away with this by allowing us to wear something as complex as a robe over the top, as it'd arguably be more demanding than the two separate armour pieces. So I expect some of these things will be integrated, but I believe it has already been mentioned that armour style can be customised to some degree, presumably at a black-smith's shop, so hopefully things like under-robe armour and armour with cloak will be available as options.

I did like the idea of customizing your weapons and armor but after reading somewhere that doing this doesnt affect the appearance of it seems like such a waste of a really good idea. I would like cloaks to be in id love to be have tonnes of clothing items in general as well as armor and hats too
