Next Elder Scrolls game ideas

Post by Thunder »

I'm not getting bored of Oblivion yet, but I'm just asking what ideas you think should be in the next Elder Scrolls game. Here is my list of ideas:

*Bring back all the fun weapons and stuff from Morrowinf back, like the Crossbows and throwing weapons. They got the gameplay right in Oblivion, now they just need to bring back the stuff they left out to make it perfect. The gameplay should still be altered a bit to be better any way, but not so much that they don't have time to bring back (And add) cool weapons.

*Make weapons and armor cooler. I had a VERY hard time making my character look cool in Oblivion, there was a huge lack of interesting armor and items in Oblivion, besides Dwarven and that one mask you got from the daedra lord (I forgot who) there wasn't that many cool looking weapons and armor. I'd like to see a sythe work as a weapon, that'd be plain bad ass to use. Imagine, walking around as a buff ass Orc with a sythe strapped to your back, only to soon find a Daedra (Or some sort of huge enemy), you wip out the sythe and slash himto peices.

*More diverse areas. I was tired of seeing the same old textures and areas in caves and dungeons in Oblivion. It's still fun to see what secrets they all had in store, but the secrets weren't big enough, and the textures and even designs of them all were almost identicle scrap a few traps and enemy placements. I want to have alot more divercity in my dungeons and adventures around Tamriel's provinces. I'd like to see vastly different looking dungeons with new ideas to them. Maybe there can be a secret (Or hard to get to/beat/etc) dungeon at the highest mountain/place in the game, and to strike fear into who ever dares try entering it it dons a very grim look, different from the other dungeons.

*Make it bigger. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion was HUGE. I am NOT complaining about the size of the game at all, but still, make the game bigger. Since the game will most likely be released on the next X-Box/PS4/etc, they can afford to make it bigger. As long as they start working soon.

*More guilds/clubs/work places/etc to join. I thought of a really cool idea for maybe a Pirate's guild in the next game. It'd be like the fighters, thieves and Dark Brotherhood combined! An example would be that you're captain's prized treasure or something was stolen by a rival league of pirates, and he chooses you to take it back, kill the rival pirates and steal as much stuff from them as possible. That'd be awesome. Maybe a hunter's guild would work as well? It'd involve you having to search for a different type of animal/creature each time and depending upon the size/difficulty of it you'd get a higher or lower bounty. It'd work kinda like the unicorn daedric lord quest.
nope

make the game harder, but still let us sneak around, have you ever tried sneaking with the gameplay bar a little above normal? my god its hard to sneak by ANYONE let alone in a cave where you can only move a little bit...

let us get a house to start with so we have something to be attached to in the game

Make the magic and melee more balanced, like instead of only being able to do magic or attack make it so we can put a shock spell(or others) into the sword for the next attack(but it still wouldnt have a charge or be considered enchanted)!! oblivion was ALWAYS magic OR melee not mixed

level up certain skills faster (blade or armor) which never seem to level up fast enough

Thinking about the next Elder Scrolls game now is like waking up the morning of December 26th and thinking about next Christmas. Seriously it's a bit depressing.

Anyway good suggestions, a good blend of Oblivion and Morrowind would be an incredible game. Where would you like the next game to take place? Hopefully the next games don't continue further down the path that Oblivion took.

I want a bigger world. Compared to Morrowind, Cyrodiil feels small. I'd like to travel between Cyrodiil and Morrowind, maybe as a merchant (new class). I'd love to visit Hammerfell and Skyrim. Experience the warm sands of Elsweyr and the deep forests of Valenwood. I'd love to stock up on potions and hire an argonian guide to take me to the Black Marsh and I'd return with strange herbs and shrooms from which I could brew some really kickass potions.

I also want the herbalism mod that is available in Morrowind. It lets me find and plant seeds that grow into beautiful plants from which I can harvest useful ingredients.

I want the banking mod that allows me to buy houses/apartments or a piece of land where I can build my own home and have several designs to choose from.

And I want scimitars. Razor sharp and beautifully curved scimitars.

I want to be able to wear underwear under my clothes and armor on top of that and a robe if I want to. Not either or.

I would prefer that the monsters didn't level with you, but that all levels of monsters and equipment were available from the outset. So if you did manage to kill something after an epic fight, as a low level character, that you would then be appropriately rewarded. This would also mean, as you level up, you would actually feel more of a sense of achievement as you could then take on the nastier beasts. Possibly would require something like not being able to wear certain items, or using certain spells, till you were at higher levels (as there already is with the spells that you can buy), otherwise there might be too much of just getting strong armour and enchanting it early on to boost your stats massively at an early stage.

It would seem far more natural to me to find stronger monsters in the wilder parts. For instance, a non fighting farmer with a pitch fork doesn't seem likely to survive for long with minotaurs roaming through his fields.

I think horses should have saddle bags at least, as an option when you buy them.

The things that spring to mind are that Bethesda made a game that's great to explore. That is obviously their strength and they should probably stick with that. Like Akela said, make it bigger. Right now, the world feels a bit cluttered with dungeons and camps and forts everywhere. I'd like to see a world with about the same amount of content as Oblivion, but bigger.

Different textures for dungeons would be good, too. Their dungeons are a LOT of fun to explore, but they're starting to look the same at times and I don't want to get tired of them.

I could do without the voice acting. I like it, actually, but then I think about what they could have done with that time, money, and disk space.

I just feel like Bethesda made a really great game, and I'd like to see them take their strong points even farther.

on the coolness side of equipment, being able to customise your look would be a nice thing.

Dyes for example...harvest ingrediants like you do for alchemy but make vials of dye to apply to your armor or clothing...maybe make it more complex by giving the dye and the armor to a merchant and leaving it with them for a few hours, come back and boom, a nice new coloured robe!

I also think that we should be able to wear normal clothes under our armor like back in morrowind...i mean, you don't just put on a glass suite with nothing underneith! That would chaff!

Fletching! The big thing we all moan about...well i do anywhey! Being able to fletch your own arrows would be great! the shafts and nocks could be storebaught but introduce a few new animals to get the feathers from and it makes it a bit more fun...Also would be nice to enchant the arrows...though this could unbalance the game somewhat...daedric arrow enchanted with 25 point shock over 2 secs with a drain health of 35pts and sneak attk on top of that....nasty dmg indeed! they might have to scale that down so only the really powerful arrows can only be obtained by killing special npc's...

Just my ideas :)

The main thing for me would be expansion of the area you can visit. I want to see ALL of Tamriel, in one game.

The game was not designed for multiplayer. The basic problem is that it pauses when you access inventory. If it didn't, you'd be dead in a blink of an eye. If it did, you'd freeze the whole world for everyone, everywhere everytime you access it. Most MMORPGs have some way to cheat death - respawn, death world and such. In Tamriel a dead is dead, or they could bring Uriel back to life. This is circumvented by loading from savegames. No savegames in mmorpg. There's a thousand reasons why Elder Scrolls wouldn't make a good mmorpg.

And I'd definitely NOT play a game where every second character I meet would shout OMG WTF D00D PLZ GIV ME $$$!!!!11LOL
The primary problem with multiplayer role-playing games is that great most of their players have no idea what role-playing is.

Well, a multiplayer port of Daggerfall might be interesting. But adjusted properly.
There once was a Prince named Mehrunes
Whose buttocks sounded sonorous tunes
‘Twas an odiferous song
People sang before long
They had enough of his full crescent moons.

There are literally thousands of MMOs. How many good single player RPGs have been made for the PC lately?

*Hint: You only need one hand to count them.*

In the next ES game, you should be able to travel to all the provinces of Tamriel.

Also, making it an MMORPG would be nice

Time to build an Empire!! The Septims are Dust and breakaway provinces must be brougtht back under imperial control, hopefully by Force!! It's time to storm the beaches of the Summerset isles from you battle fleet, Prepare for the long, hard overland campaign againest the mighty warriors of Skyrim, Hammerfell and High Rock and to bring the light of the Empire to the forbidding heart of Black March where any but the Argonian fear to tread. Time to scratch the kitty-cat Khajiit's with Steel, cut down the great Vallenwood for siege engines and generally bring the entire continant under an iron imperial fist. From High Rock to Morrowind, from the Summerset isles to Black March, TIME TO CONQUER!!!!!!!!!

*I'd really like to have Crossbows and throwing weapons back in the next game. I've never played the past games, but I bet it would still be cool.

*The scythe REALLY needs to be made a weapon.

*Another thing I would like to have is a fishy stick, sadly, I do not.

*Full Akaviri armor and bows and crap like that. I really like how Japanese culture gets slightly tied into the game. (If you've ever seen the Akaviri Commander at Pale Pass, you'll notice his armor slightly resembles Japanese Samurai armor.)

*A bigger setting, with some fields and wilderness. I find Cyrodill far too populated, and it would be nice to have a more quiet and peacefull setting once in a while.

*I've never noticed any domestic cats. They could put some in there.

*The option to have a pet would be really nice, I always notice that someone had a pet, but not me.

*Estate outside of the cities, were you could buy a cabin or something in the mountains, or next to a lake.

*If they could figure out a way, maybe we could have Multiplayer capabilty on the next Elder Scrolls game. But you'd have to have a respawn system or something if they allowed player killing. I also wouldn't want people picking my pockets.

Multiplayer wouldn't work...Vook said it before that when you open your inventory the game pauses this prooves problematic and also with the many problems that tie in with MMORPG's it wouldn't be Oblivion anymore...if you want online ones go play WoW or EverQuest - which i personally love :P

I want one thing to go back to the way it was in Morrowind: More unique items! In Oblivion it seemed like every single unique item was quest related, or at least you were unable to get it without completing the quest. In MW, a lot of unique items were up for grabs just for exploring. For example, you can get the Lord's Mail without doing the quest just by diving underneath the water in Ebonheart and killing the guy, same for chrysamere and countless others. In Oblivion you have to find the daedra, do his whole quest and get one of very few unique items.. super
how may I persist you?

Dont make it online. This forum is the closest I want ES to come to online. Here's what I'd like for the next game.

*Dye, like we had in EQ to make that pink-blue-orange armor all black

*Wear underpants-clothes-armor-robes. In Morrowind I wore a fugly hodge-podge set of armor that I covered up with Trebonius' robe. It also annoys me to see an awesome item (I saw some boots with feather and some gloves with fortify speed) that I cant wear because the bonuses from my Dark Hand robes kick ass. Put them on the outside, over my armor. (Which would unfortunately make them clothes with no AC)

*More unique graphics. Everything is from X set and X quality is better than Y quality so you always wear X even tho its ugly...unique armor and weapons. I LOVED the cool artifacts in morrowind (complete list of them on this site)

*I wanna go to the rest of Tamriel. I remember reading about this cool tower in the Northwestern part of Tamriel, on a lake, in that leather booklet that came with the game. I thought "cool, I'll go check it out" then I realized it was outside Cyrodiil =(

*Some1 mentioned that the Septim Empire collapses. Fine. But only if you make that into an RTS. In reality, with the government of 500 years collapsing Law and Order is gonna go to hell (which could be interesting)

*I want a quest NPC (unkillable) named after myself. Who doesn't?

*first of all i'd like to see more RP elements like if you wear necro robes people spit on you or run away from you or flies fly around you (if your doing wierd s*** with corpses your prolly gonna stink, being able to make actual friends/enemies not just people who do or dont like you, being able to choose your dialog (ie. nights of the old republic, jade empire), choosing your side in the mq instead of always being good, or if you max out your strength you can hold two handed weapons with one hand now that'd be cool!

* i know i'd be troublesome but multiplayer would be cool even to some degree, even if all you can do is watch someone else play sure it sounds lame but it'd be cool to follow around your friends while they adventure, multiplayer would be cool though, finally people could stop arguing on the forums about "how my character would kick your characters ass" and settle it once and for all, maybe a 1 on 1 areena style fight or something.

*being able to manipulate events, sure this would cause problems with the lore but i'd be cool to decide you want to backstab someone or decided to exterminate the DB and start over

*the return of morrowind, i just have a soft spot for mw being my first es game

*no fast travel or at least the return of some kind of transport, boats or whatever

*being able to attack on horseback, the lack of this makes horses almost usless in oblivion unless your just starting out...even then its still lame.

*more than 10 voice actors! this dien't really bother me but i'd definetly be nice! they coulda gotten each actor to do a voice for each race this would've at least gave it more flavour.

*definetly being able to wear armor under your robes like in morrowind...this is prolly my most missed thing from morrowind

*more varied weponry! in morrowind there were seperate flavours of everything, i want my damn deadric katana! not to mention dual wielding, i want some dueling weapons: a longsword in one hand and a dagger in the other or two battle axes!

*no more wrecking my face i spent hours trying get my char to look like me only to get turned into a crackhead when i become a vamp, thus making me never want to be a vamp again even though i planned on being one the second i heard you could pass as a normal person if you fed

*also i know this has been said alot, a vamp giuld or story, in mw this was one of the coolest hidden things in my opinion i finsished the mq bacame a vamp and a whole new questline was given to me a niiiice bounus when i htought i'd done everything.

*allies, yeah i realize it doesn't work well in oblivion but i want my own crew just 2 or 3 people with their own personalities who you can give orders to (ie the Db murderer) but they actually DO STUFF

*more customization, i'd be awesome if you could chose the little things like having your shield on your back when not using it or wearing a two handed sword at your side(this was the only thing that stopped me form using em in oblivion...that and the no stealth bounus) or being able to put on your hood when wearing a robe (and i dont mean just removing it im mean an actual animation where you pull down your robe) or maybe even tattoo's! imagine some bad mthfker with enchanted magical tattoo's like in fable when you mastered magic you got cryptic glowing blue tattos. oh yeah beards/goatees would be nice or being able to choose your body type (newheim the portly sure is buff for someone with such a fat face!) also like in fable if you were strong you got buff or if your evil you look like it.

*although there'd be lots of complications with Nerevar taking place in Akavir would be cool, tamriel is boooooring i want some new species, being a monkey man would kick ASS, so much for the khajit being the best jumpers and theifs! even though it'd be unfaithful to the lore it's be cool to be a Dreamora with a soul or something like that

*another raven rock like town you get to build cept on a larger scale

*levitate...it saves time, mark and recall too

*THE REVENGE OF THE SLOAD, for too long these noble creatures have been descriminated against just cuz they're ugly and caused the plauge doesn't mean they all deserve to die (if this was your logic then why wouldn't you want all white people to die for all the crap they've pulled)...btw why is soap made from them if they're stinky diease ridden slugs?

*more DB quests damnit, i was seriously let down by the Db quests in oblivion even thought they were the best missions in thee game.

*more blade quests! the blades are supposed to be spies so i'd expect more missions that invlove stealth and secrecy, the MQ mission when you and Baurus meet with the MD is cool. btw i don't consider many of the MQ missions blade missions cuz they're just the go here get this and come back so you can do it 1000 more times!

*this obviously can't be done till like ps5 and xbox 1080 come out but an entire globe to explore, i wanna see the unknown lands to the south of tamriel or go to yokuda...and i don't mean lameass loading screen then your there thing i want boats damnit and nice relaxing boat trips which could randomly get attacked by pirates, or hell be a pirate yourself crusing the seas looking for ships or communities to raid

*off topic but beth should make a elderscrolls like game in a futuristic or modern setting i think that'd be awesome but sorry for going off topic

*so far i think thats everything i can think of
It ain't easy being a sload :(

I am thinking that it would be awesome to be able to travel to all of the places like you could in Arena. I would also like for every race to be in the game, even if the Sload were only in some out of the way place. It would be really awesome if the Deadra more or less stayed out of the next one and maybe the foreginers tried to invade again. I'm rather tired of fighting in the planes of Oblivion, but maybe trying to stop a few hundred of those lizard things from across the sea.
I'll try to think up some more things, but basicaly, just more :)

Maybe some REALLY huge under ground systems of caverns, like one that could go from the mainland to Somerset Isle, where I could kill ALL of the high Evles... did I just say that? Oh well. Maybe even a resurgance of the Alyeades.
