Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.

Just finished:

Salo - Marquis De Sade

The epitome of sadism written by the most depraved genius to ever walk this earth. And if you think I am being hyperbolic, then just read it for yourself :P

I challenge you to find a book more grotesque than Salo.

I just finished (by which I mean over a month ago) The Gambler by Dostoyevsky. Loved it.

I've got Ivanhoe to read now, and I'll definitely get on it at some point.

Books found in Morrowind, either from the Lore section or directly from the game, but mostly those pertaining to the Dunmeri people. And holy cow there is a lot of material on the subject!

Just finished The Dirt, Motley Crue Bio. Was a very entertaining band, even though I cannot stand their music. I'm much more into Progressive stuff like Opeth, Rush, and Dimmu Borgir. Yes, I think Dimmu Borgir is very progressive!

It's a chore. For me at least  I found it easy to read, but only in a sense of grasping the surface of the text, all the historical allusions really just went way over my head :?

What do you think of it?

I read it with the commentaries, so that all the allusions to Joyce's own life, the events in contemporary Ireland, subtle quotations from other works - what is termed to be intertextuality - and, of course, the parallels with Homer become clear. I recognize some of the allusions without having to consult the commentaries, but they are still quite helpful. It is very exciting to understand what the author implies. Today I am going to have a lecture about it at the University; really looking forward to it. :D

I've wanted to get the annotated version for a better understanding :P I've heard it's much easier to follow. But I bet it was a breeze for you anyway.

I've finished Les Miserables by Hugo, now I'm moving to The Sorrows of Young Werther. The Romantic Period has some good books.
Twice and twice shall he be marked, twice to live and twice to die.

Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.

Oh, you've turned to reading Goethe. I shouldn't wonder if Faust is one of the next items on the list. That's a very good reading programme! :)
Speaking of Werther, at the peak of its popularity the book triggered off an immense wave of suicides, making Goethe himself feel rather uncomfortable - and for a long time afterwards, it was fashionable to be all melancholy and 'suffering'.
But then again, going about sulking at the cruel world is typical of Romanticism - not that I have anything against it. :P

I am about 20 pages from the end of Kurt Vonnegut's Player Piano. The suspense! The emotion! The satire! Vonnegut is such a master of American, nay, contemporary literature, I don't know how anyone doesn't bother to read him. All of his books are brilliant!

Cat's Cradle was my favorite one...but I think Player Piano almost nixed that position. It was just so darn witty. I bet you would like that one, too.

I think now I will read Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby. I liked his collaboration with Ben Folds so it is only fitting!

I'm reading Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. I'm catching up on all the prescribed reading I skipped when I should've done it.
