What is your idea of a perfect dungeon?
For those of you who enjoy debating the semantics and definitions of "dungeon", this is not the place. I don't care if it's a mine/cave/farm/mountain/etc
Personally I like that we've seen more water and varied environments like an opening In a cave ceiling with light and snow pouring in. I'd like to see perhaps a cave with winding tunnels that eventually come to a large cave area with the ceiling gone and just sky shining down. And a dragon flying around. I think it'd be cool to see dragons INSIDE a cave. Maybe a waterfall or two in that same area.
Then maybe come across collapsed rocks with an explorable crashed boat that used to be a lagoon.
Hells kitchen anyone? (old Alone In The Dark)
What's your perfect dungeon? Or what would you like to see in a dungeon?

Any dungeon without zombies is good for me, but I would really like a true labyrinth, maybe like the minotaur's labyrinth.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

I want a full on deathtrap, maybe quest related but i want a dungeon were you will need all you're wits about you, i'm talking pressure panels on the floor that activate numerous amounts of traps like spikes, arrows, maybe unleash a vicious predator somewhere in the godforsaken place or maybe a pack of them! i want walls that close in on you, MORE puzzles this time please, mazes's, memory puzzle's, treasure map's (since we can see items in 3 dimensional), sinking sand basicly i want alot of thought to go into something like this.

Also have some "death traps" where it takes all you have just to crawl out of there alive, maybe a whole goblin army (or like the mythic dawn at the start of obliv, keep coming in till something happens

I want one with some actual puzzles that don't involve a maze of passages or having to kill respawning enemies every five seconds so I can focus on solving them.

Re: What is your idea of a perfect dungeon?
Most of Ocarina of Time had almost perfect dungeons. I remember the Forest Temple particularly fondly.
A good dungeon should have (ideally): its own unique music, a variation of big open caverns and claustrophobic spaces, interesting, unique puzzles, a good backstory, unique loot, some kind of boss or a unique feature that the dungeon is based around, and preferably not be a cave.

Re: What is your idea of a perfect dungeon?
I think most people would agree with dkjestrup, i love a good dungeon even if it is a cave so long as it feels unique and theres lots for me to discover (like the occasional goblin in Obv where they've obviously drank themselves to death in some corner of the cave) As a side note im particularly pleased that chests etc have the [empty] tag on them now from FO3 i hated back tracking in Obv and checking every chest twice so i didnt miss one
Re: What is your idea of a perfect dungeon?
I was gonna say the Spirit Temple myself, but the Forest Temple was great too, especially in terms of atmosphere. I also have really fond memories of the Stone Tower from Majora's Mask. I'm hoping that these "1-2 hour" dungeons will have that level of atmosphere and complexity. I think it's the balance between those two elements that I'm really interested in seeing.dkjestrup wrote:Most of Ocarina of Time had almost perfect dungeons. Yes more puzzles!
And a dungeon cave to lead to an open clearing of a forest or mountain area not accessible from anywhere but that dungeon.

I want one that is Indiana Jones-like. I want to step on a hidden pressure plate and get chased by a huge ball, while dodging goblins and arrows!

Re: What is your idea of a perfect dungeon?
I would like an epic dungeon that takes hours to complete. Of course, it would have to be full of puzzles that actually make you think, traps that can kill you instantly (like giant spike pits), and strong bosses that you can only defeat if you use the room around you to your advantage.
That's asking for too much, isn't it?

I want some easter eggs hehe. Like the Indiana jones scene with the ball, or a long forgotten ship that by misfortune is in an underground cavern with an ancient powerful treasure inside. And more....
