We didn't like A space odyssey at all. IMO, it was incredibly stupid. But District 9 was really good!

Now! You, you little punk! How dare you?! You call the work of Stanley Kubrick stupid. Tsk. It must be you who is stupid. You blasphemous brat ;)
But yes District 9 is really cool.

I think you need to take an active interest in directing to appreciate Kubrick.

Six String Samurai
Ghost in the Shell
The Shawshank Redemption
The Thing
Aliens
Night of the Living Dead

I didn't like 2001 the parts with HAL are great but the film was so long and drawn out. Call me a witch but I think it needs a shorter edit.

Take anything, and I mean anything out of that film and it'll be ruined forever. Long it may be, but I'd say it's an example of the greatest directing in any film ever.

And while I'm here, the original King Kong. It's aged like a catfish out of water, but it's still suit impressive to watch. It's even quite witty at times.

Actually it isn't that long, it just feels very long because of there is almost not any use of music. Music shortens up a film in a subconsious way.. it's like No Country For Old Men, which I by the way also recommend, that movie feels very long too - because there is no music.

And another good movie:
O Brother, Where Art Thou

No Country For Old Men,what a flick. The ending was odd and unresolved, which made the movie brilliant.

The Inbetweeners. You have to see it.

  Well, it showed that big metal chocolate bar for nearly 20 minutes. That part got boring within the first few seconds of seeing it. And then a bunch of monkeys started jumping around all over the place. ....No comments there. And then they were fascinated with doors opening and closing. At least Star Trek knows how to make quiet doors that open on their own.

Aye, what he said. I think they needed to cut the entire thing short by two hours.
I'm sure it was a good movie, I jut didn't like it.

Good movies about racists:
Mississippi Burning
Sins of the Father

also, if you are like me and enjoy the works of H.P. Lovecraft - you should watch "Dagon" from 2001 - it's actually pretty good.

You have... impeccable taste.
Add to that list First Blood, 13 Assassins, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead 2...
Or if you're in for something less fast-paced King's Speech, The Yellow Handkerchief, The Green Mile...
Obviously there are countless more movies, but I'm getting that mind block where I can't think of a single one.
The Tom is a copy. Who does this guy think he is? The nerve.

Thank you.
Well, I haven't seen First Blood nor 13 Assasins, but I can only approve of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre - if we are speaking about the 70's classic? And Evil Dead 2 is hillarious!
I recommend the movie "Reanimator" if you like the Evil Dead series. Reanimator is based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft, but it fails to achieve the same level of greatness, mainly because it is not like the short story at all. I still approve of it though, because it is really really funny.

Blackfire wrote:I recently saw The Shining. Most amazing movie ever.
I can not but agree with you. The Shining is really really good. Jack Nicholson is one hell of an actor, Stanley Kubrick an amazing director and Stephen King a very good writer (Three Kings)
