Delete a saved game while in-game ?

I'm an experienced Oblivion player new to Morrowind.
I have read thru all the guides, including the FAQ above, and done a search.
I can't find the answer to this basic question:

I made 2 saved games before I realized I only need 1

How do I delete my 2nd unnecessary saved game while playing the game ?

There must be a simple answer to this, I'm surprised I can't find it.

You can't delete from the game, you need to go into program files Bethesda>Morrowind>saves (or wherever they are depending on your OS) and delete from there.

Hmmm..
Well, I followed the path:
C: program files(86)..Steam...Steamapps...common...morrowind...saves
I deleted them
but back in the game the two saves remain, unchanged

any idea what I'm doing wrong, please ?

Aah!
Right click to delete doesn't work.
But physically dragging the entire saved file over to the recycle bin did!
Back in the game and these files are now gone.
