The Marriage feature

Post by MasterRokon »

I wanna know well what you guys want in it and well what you know about it. The only thing i know is you can get married. Im pondering interracial marriage which with the child NPC's it would get odd. Although with the character pics ive seen there may be hints of biracial happening such as a orc with a more imperial face structure. Honestly im hoping for more interactions than just the status, although i dont know what they could do besides set up dates which doesnt fit TES in my opinion. And gifts sorta seem boring.

The picture of the orc that has imperial features is made by a journalist at Quakecon, so there's a chance he's one of the only ones that look like that.
But anyway, I don't know what should be in the marriage...
Me: "So, how did you get this rich?"
Random Jarl: "I'm the Jarl and so were my father, grandfather, and his father. How about you?"
Me: "I've just spent some days chopping wood."

oh ok the pics, but yea i do like the thought of marriage in skyrim its just they cant do much that fits TES without it becoming a sorta dating SIM. Although i dont want it to be a hey lets get married, ok, then nothing. And i would enjoy a slight day by day you have to do somthing with your spouse/ NPC that your intrested in to keep there appeal to you there. Finally if there is the feature of having kids and for some reason that child dies i dont want a sorta 'what child' dialogue, as if nothing has changed.

I don't think you can have children or they would have to go through 9 months of a character looking more and more pregnant. I don't think that if you are eight months pregnant fighting dragons would be a good thing to do. Then the kids would have to grow over time. It is just lots of work to make pregnant characters seem real. Or you can just plop out a seven year old child overnight but that would be really silly.

With the ability to make your own lore, ANYTHING is possible! Even seven year old babies! OVERNIGHT!

But more to the point, I just hope the marriage system is relaxed, in the sense it's not over complicated or focused on. Just a side part to the game that makes immersion that bit better.

What it MIGHT be is when you get married, guy or girl, your spouse lives in your main or somehow designated house, sort of like rosethorn hall with the servant. And you could have children that run around your house or property depending on the new houses available, and if children are possible. With your spouse cleaning, farming, sleeping, repairing things, etc. That way its a lot of scripted animations that add a lot of depth would be more interesting, without being overbearing with coding or be to unrealistic to be implemented.

I hope my spouse can come with me on adventures. However I might just leave them at home in fear of them getting killed.

I want sex scenes like in Dragon Age. I also want Skyrim to have liberal marital laws so I can have girl on girl homosexual relationships.

They better have it so your spouse just goes unconscious rather than dying and you just going out and replace them. And for children maybe adopt orphans. and if the marriage is just a status with nothing after it, i think they shouldnt add it then cause its sorta pointless. I WANT TO HOLD A WEDDING AND possibly do anniversity. on a side note i kinda wanna be able to design the npc i marry for a better connection to them.

If you can get children, I'd like to be able to make them like I want them to be. And I hope marrying isn't something you can do when the disposition is high enough or something like that, so if you bribe someone enough you'll be able to marry, but after x days/weeks/months and if the disposition is high enough you are able to marry someone. That would be better.

Yea, it wouldn't be to hard to implement I think. A scenario like my previous post or like in fallout NV when you had a companion and you could then do the unique mission for them. They could follow a similar vein with that. Get a follower and have them follow you for a while then after a time they have an option to really help them out with something then they fall in love then you get the option to marry. But who knows...

Thing is, all we've heard is that we can get married, and yes she can live in a house if you buy one.

They haven't covered the important facts:

Can we force her to do the dishes?
If the house is a mess, can we interact with the wife to tell her to clean whilst we go to the tavern/pub?
Can we bring other bar-wenches home to our house to...'introduce' to the wife?
Will she pester and nag when we feel like going exploring in barrows and dungeons?

These are things we need to know, yes? :P

What if you play a female?
if they DO have kids I kind of like to have the idea of a wait time 9not no 9 months but something0
how ever at the same time it would suck to have wait two weeks (exsampkle) to give birth and then go adventruing

LOL imagine if birth only took two weeks in real life.... I don't want to think about it.

Now, it's confirmed that there will be children in the world. They also confirmed that you can have companions.

Marry : birth : train son : new companion.

This would be awesome.

No worries. I killed a mag of pinot, so I am a little loose with morals.

Truthfully, yes it may have been tasteless, but I guess my point is that I hope they don't make it like Fable where it's a very shallow system. The wife does nothing. e.g It would be nice if you could perhaps send her to the market or out in the wilderness to gather: ingredients for alchemy, items for smithing, etc. just something other than her standing around in the house.

I, on the other hand, chuckled a lot reading the sexist humor. In fact broke out laughing towards the end. Then ever harder when I read Masters' reply.

Hahaha..... pure gold 'Morrovion', pure gold.
