New Info From Pete Hine's Twitter

Post by Mway1 »

http://www.gamepur.com/news/4944-pete-h ... itter.html
Spoiler:
Q: I heard about the multiple quest [markers] but is there an option to turn these off? It would please alot of morrowind fans.
A: you can turn off any markers you want. There isn’t a setting to do so though

Q: 1. Do you still have to sleep in a bed to level up? 2. Are kids killable in the game?
A: no. No

Q: Are there subtitles in Skyrim for deaf gamers ?
A: Yes, fully subtitled.

Q: Can you move objects in game because it seems my controllers buttons are taken?
A: Yes, you can still move items in the world. Instead of clicking button to pickup item, hold it down to move

Q: Is there any form of regenerating health without any perks etc?
A: Health, magicka, and stamina all regen slowly over time.

Q: Is the EB Games CE for Skyrim going to be available in the U.S. too? Or just Australia?
A: it’s not a CE. It’s their pre-order incentive. Not coming to US

Q: Still wondering about dual wield blocking. It seems VERY silly to not allow the player to block or parry while using two weapons.
A: Can only do one thing when you pull trigger: block or attack. That’s the tradeoff. You don’t get the best of all worlds

Q: Can NPCs dual wield the same way the player can? Like using a spell and sword at the same time.
A: Yes. They and and do wield sword and spell, two spells, etc.

Q: Is there any gameplay mechanic related to sleeping? I don’t need it to level up, I can use wait to pass time. So?
A: You get a bonus for being Rested, a la FO3

Q: Do you mean they regen noticeably even without sleeping or using the wait function? Are HP potions just a boost?
A: Health potions keep me from dying in battle

I was just reading that about 15mins ago . It's a good link, but sadly, not too much new riveting info. :(

I hope the health regeneration is something small. And it shouldn't start regenerating right away, it should start maybe like 10+ seconds after your last time getting hit.

LOL I'm already following Pete's twitter feed.

It seems that these Gamepur.com just pulled a few of the many questions Pete has been answering over the past couple of months. All old news.

Pete didn't hold any sort of special Q&A - he generally tries to answer questions all the time. (usually his answers are kind of vague, but sometimes they are specific)

I'm sad that you don't level up via sleeping. It actually gave me a reason to go home rather than just popping in, dropping some loot and going. The bonus for sleeping in Fallout never was really an incentive to sleep for me. GAR! SKYRIM! WHY YOU MAKE ME SAD!

Meh sure it'll be good, just gonna role play sleeping I guess.

Then it'd be perfectly okay for me to hack off a limb with an axe and torch it, right?

Remember, this is with no-perks, it's just there for people who don't want it or can't sleep, but need full health/resources to take on the next challenge (or kill a herd of Mammoths only to get killed by a Dragon while walking back to town)

You don't recover on your feet. You slowly heal over a couple of days. To simulate this in-game, you should have to wait/sleep for a while (like in most other instalments in the series). Magically watching your crippled limb heal without doing anything just seems off.

So far, there has been no confirmation nor denial of a survival/hardcore mode.

It seems very unlikely, given the late stage in the game, but I'm still holding a glimmer of hope for this feature.

Hmm...why does video that sound so familiar?

Oh yes, because that guy is reading one of my old posts:
BootySweat wrote:
25 details revealed on Aug 5 or Aug 6:
  1. - joinable Rebel faction (Stormcloaks)
  2. - pickpocket skill provides greater RP opportunities and much more realistic thievery for thieves
  3. - myriad options for facepaint
  4. - char gen remembers your settings when switching to different races
  5. - even minor NPCs have much more complexity and depth compared with Oblivion
  6. - you can persuade various random NPCs to accompany you and they feel like fleshed out, interesting companions
  7. - there are six different stages to crafting items (refining crude ore, assembling materials, not sure what the other 4 stages are but it sounds a hell of a lot more complex than Oblivion and Morrowind crafting)
  8. - more realistic alchemy labs instead of spamming health potions in the middle of a dungeon
  9. - in addition to alchemy ingredients there are also reagents (more complex alchemy system than Oblivion)
  10. - some spells you find as spell tomes and others you purchase from merchants, but spells definitely not perks
  11. - hand to hand attacks have a much improved gravity and physicality
  12. - the first encounter with Rebel soldiers (Stormcloaks) escorting a prisoner sounds AWESOME - you can choose various options, like setting the prisoner free, giving him a sword, etc. Quests in general sound like there are more ways to complete them
  13. - Bosmer look better than in Oblivion
  14. - traveling merchants camp beside rivers
  15. - you can learn Alchemy by trial and error, tasting unknown ingredients or making potions with unknown effects
  16. - lockpicking mini-game improved
  17. - Bards confirmed in Falkreath
  18. - MYSTERIOUS BLACK DOOR!!!!
  19. - you can hold onto your perk slots instead of choosing a perk at each level up
  20. - you can add laugh lines in character generator
  21. - you can give a Dunmer one red and one gray eye in the character generator
  22. - loading screens look cool
  23. - after murdering innocents in Falkreath Hold, the PC in one of the demos crossed the border into White Hold and no one bothered him
  24. - there is a Two-Handed perk called "Barbarian"
  25. - "DOZENS" of sliders for character creation
20 more new things we learned on August 7 and August 8:

1. Aurora Borealis confirmed
2. Animal Companions (not Bosmer racial ability) confirmed
3. Bosmer "Animal Allies" Racial Ability confirmed
4. NPCs can throw rocks at you if they are on a bridge above you
5. Joinable Stormcloaks Rebel Faction has branching path quests
6. NEW JOINABLE FACTION (Riverwood Tavern Warrior Clan) CONFIRMED
7. Glow Worms confirmed
8. Killable Bees and insects confirmed (you can harvest bees from a beehive)
9. Mysterious Courier Carrying Letter about Investing in Mine Operated by Giants (different ways to handle quest)
10. Branching Path ways to enter Whiterun City Gates
11. Fast Travel costs money (might be negative for some)
12. You continue earning perks all the way to mathematical cap (70 - 80) (perks do not stop at level 51)
13. Stormcloaks control North Keep tower (area where Todd fights Frost Dragon in Demo)
14. Water Ripples look Fantastic (subjective, I know, but they look much better than Oblivion)
15. Complete one handed and two handed perks list confirmed
16. Branching path non-linear side quest to resolve love triangle between Sven, Camilla and an Elf
17. More than one type of poison (Bosmer immune to "most" poisons
18. You can hire bards to play music in a tavern and if you get them to play the right songs in the right order, everyone gets drunk and you can pickpocket them more easily
19. The Jarl of Whiterun is named JARL BALGRUUF
20. The GIANT RAG-DOLL ANIMATION HAS BEEN FIXED (when he falls from the dragon he no longer looks strange)

Seriously I don't understand these "it's not very realistic" arguments. If I wanted realism, I simply wouldn't play video games.
As far as I'm concerned, this just makes it so I don't have to spam my heal spell while walking in between battles.
Is that really such a bad thing?

Next thing we know TES 6 will be out and it will also accompany you to the bathroom and wipe your tush
It will also fast travel and auto-complete boring quests, 'cause, that's stoopid, and ...you know, never mind.

On a constructive note, though, maybe if it were a feat that could be unlocked... Now that would make sense.

It's nothing other than retarded that any old person can be within an inch of their life, and get away scott free by crouching in a corner for a few seconds/ minutes. Or, like in Oblivion, "oh look, a dark corner in this ruin heavily fortified by bandits. I'll just wait an hour..."

Lame.

You mean to tell me that Dragon Age 2 was The Elder Scrolls 6: Kirkwall?

Im guessing you heal REALLY slowly.

I think its more of a check against fighting, waiting an hour, fighting, waiting an hour, all the way through the dungeon.

Now you'll probably have to wait 20 hours to be totally healed without potions or spells.

We don't even know if it happens at all times or only out of combat...and likely the amount will be almost none-existent in the higher difficulties

There is more on this in another tweet from Pete. He was asked:
chrisredfield94 Juan Lakey
@DCDeacon Please Pete, if there is health regen in skyrim tell them to take that crap out..there would be no point to restoration then.
and replied:
@chrisredfield94 Just wait and see how it works. It isn't that fast, doesn't help in combat, and def doesn't replace Restoration.
Which sounds ok to me.

I was playing oblivion and yea, all I do is instead of regen health you have regen magicka that you use to slowly heal your health, so to me it doesnt matter.

Also Pete just confirmed on hi stwitter only dogs as animal companions. :(

He was asked:
@DCDeacon Thanks for the new info yesterday great interview! Are there other animals in Skyrim we can have as companions other than dogs?
And replied:
@RichardHood1 Dogs only.
He has also now confirmed definitely no arena. :(

He was asked:
RichardHood1 Richard Hood
@DCDeacon is there no arena at all or is there some sort of alternative similar to the arena? Thanks
he answered:
@DCDeaconPete Hines@RichardHood1 None.
