No it wasn't. Ald'ruhn was destroyed and the Council moved to Blacklight. This suggests that it was not destroyed.

Anyone else think of Firefly when they first heard of The Companions?legoless wrote:I would create a mercenary guild. It would be called anything other than "the Companions". >.>
I would make some law enforcement group like the imperial legion or an evil group for mages.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

I can't find any reference supporting the Blacklight claim. It's not in any of the standard Oblivion rumours. Check out The Fall of Ald'Ruhn for info supporting Redoran's defeat.OblivionDuruza wrote:No it wasn't. Ald'ruhn was destroyed and the Council moved to Blacklight. The Redoran Lore page on the UESP supports my claim. As do rumours heard in Oblivion. But thanks for the link to the IC article. It's a good read.

Re: If you could create a guild
The Rumor, I remember clearly, was basically Ald'ruhn is destroyed. The Council moved back to Black-Light due to the Daedra attack, and then after the Main Quest it relates to House Redoran being attacked by Orcish Mercenaries and Nords.
This only shows that Redoran is in a bad position after Oblivion, (but then it didn't really suffer much after Red Day, it may have been benefited) but not that it was destroyed.

The Alchemy Guild
-A guild devoted to creating the most benificial, or most damaging potions and poisons. They do not sell poisons tonyone unauthorised, but there would be crooked NPCs willing to give some away for enough coin. Inside quests for members would involve preparing potions by order, using whatever ingrediants you can get. So if you were given an order for a potion whih buffs strength and gives night vision, you have to make one. So there woul dbe a lot of quests. Also preparing potions in the field of battle while warriors fight monstors or bandits, you can aompany them to make potions for after/before battle. Quests for non members would mostly be gathering ingrediants.

Haha... I'll pay this one.S13Kuro wrote:The Eleventh
A guild created after it became public knowledge that allegedly a small group were set to release an item of unlimited awesomeness. When this occurred is still undecided, some say a few years ago, others, as soon as the closest thing to it was found and used. In various pieces of writing found all over the country, it's claimed that this item will be unleashed on the world on the 'Eleventh of the Eleventh of the Eleventh', and that it will render all items of similar form and function completely and utterly redundant. The Eleventh's members wait with bated breath, preparing as best they can, trying not to explode with anticipation.
Armour: Neat casual.
Specialty: Information gathering, anything related to the item's finer details.
Ranks: Interested One. Screenshot Aficionado. Replayer. Lorexpert. Pantsjizzelor. Grand Master of Awesome

Only thing I'd question is the 'Neat Casual'. I mean, come on... for the serious gamers or 'hardcore' gamer, neat casual would be a stretch.

Investigator's Guild; specialising in sensitive investigations for people that would rather avoid the local guardsmen, or have particularly baffling cases. But then I just love detective quests

The Guild of Mysteries: A shadowy guild of people working to solve mysteries, also including field archaeology.

The underground maffia.
They trade skooma and deal with people who can't pay up.
I'll probably mod that.

The Guide of Not-Quite-So-Brave-As.
The guild for people who like to think they are of noble heart that can defeat evil but will always fall flat on their ass and most likely die as a consequence in hilarious ways. Elder Scrolls needs more comic relief I say

Shivering Isles in general gave much better comic relief. Hopefully we will see some jugglers in Skyrim...In fact there should be a Guild of Jugglers.

Re: If you could create a guild
Rather than introduce a ton of guilds/factions, I would prefer it if Bethesda simply allowed the player to actually do something meaningful after becoming the leader of a guild. As opposed to Oblivion's "Come back in a month to receive your cut: a whopping 200 gold!" Let me hire new members and assign specific jobs to people based on their skills as to make the guild even better than when I started. Allow me to assign members contracts and make important decisions about the guild. Being a guild leader in Oblivion was lame.
Remember that rumor back before Skyrim was officially announced that said Bethesda was going to contract Armor Games to develop TES: V? *shudder*

Re: If you could create a guild
I hope you can't become the leader of many guilds in Skyrim. It seemed silly that, in Oblivion or Morrowind, one individual could lead multiple huge organisations. Hopefully the new radiant quest system will allow for an "ending" similar to Daggerfall's faction quests - one can continue to hunt ogres and steal treasures, long after the more personalised quests have been completed.

Re: If you could create a guild
Good point. If Bethesda is going to truly deliver on this whole "Radiant Story" thing, then it shouldn't be possible for a warrior-type character who is the leader of The Companions and has made decisions that reflect a combat-oriented character to become the big cheese in The College of Winterhold. That is, if the storytelling is as customized to the player's character as they are promising.legoless wrote:I hope you can't become the leader of many guilds in Skyrim.
