Lag usually only happens when the player respawns or joins the server. If they're safe, they can wait it out.

Not necessarily. I could set up a gold/iron currency, maybe make a bank and set up loans, etc...

I still think a bartering shop would be nice.

Yet an economy would ruin the UESP feel to the area... Therefore, I abandon the idea.

You could do:

5 iron = 1 gold
5 cobblestones = 1 iron
5 plank = 1 cobblestone
5 wood = 1 plank
5 dirt/sand = 1 wood

Or something like that.

And I would like a shop. Maybe we should make a village where the owner of the server is the mayor, who has a big chest. People would then pay money for land rights, permits and stuff. Then they could open a armour/weapon shop, a tool shop or a material shop. There could even be a house shop.

To be honest, for most people the best solution is to hire a server that you pay monthly for. A few months ago me and a bunch of friends got an 8 slot server for $8 a month, we split the costs and paid 60p a month each. And the server was actually pretty decent. Best deal I ever got. Unfortunately the company we were with went down the toilet just after we stopped the server so we can't get another one at that price.

Beta 1.8 is coming soon! Notch said he is going to add a new mob called "The Enderman" Its a creepy looking tall dark figure that can edit the environment. The creepy thing about it is that when you put your crosshair on it, it will stop the activities it is doing and stare blankly at you. If you take your crosshair of it, it will become hostile and attack you teleporting behind you.
