Assassination quests

Post by strobacaxi »

So, I'm creating a murderer type of character, but I'm not really sure what to do with it...

Beyond the DB are there any assassination quests or an assassin has to walk around the cities killing everyone that he can?

I wouldn't say that there are quests like that per se, but you could possibly just roleplay and head to different cities, walk around, find a mark. Follow them and learn their routine, then execute the kill, taking some loot from their dead bodies/houses where possible.

Paranoia is an obvious choice for an actual quest though, You might like to check it out.

This quest could also potentially become an assassination.

Well no but what I do is find random NPC's that have no point but clutter and normally kill them. IE Beggars, Argonians is Leyawiin, etc...
You need something special you wont find this in your general store that's for damn sure

Hey Sam, lay off the Argonians. Some of my best friends are reptiles, and, in spite of being cold-blooded, they have some of the most warm-hearted and thoughtful dialogue in the game.

There are plenty of characters in Oblivion who deserve assassinating. Necromancers, Vampires, Bandits, etc. Face it, the game is designed for you to kill them anyway, being an assassin allows you to be stylish about it. Unless, of course, you're actually trying to commit full-blown illegal murder on innocent victims and avoid the Bounty. Then, anyone is fair game.

Assassinate people who look at you the wrong way? Perhaps that shop owner told you to buy something or get out.

You might want to think about what kind of assassin you are. A moral assassin, who serves out justice as he sees fit? Complicate things by tying him into the nine divines faction to make him a religious fanatic who kills those he deems immoral. (people who cheat on their spouse, everyone in the thieves guild)

Assassin for money, you'd probably scope out the huge mansions in every city and assassinate the owners. Maybe even some castle dwellers as well.

Crazy serial killer? Assassinate people who you just feel like. Perhaps make a subtle trail for the guards. Assassinate the counts bodyguard as a warning. Assassinate someone's wife or son. Leave an arrow sticking out of the forehead of every victim as your calling card.

Is marksman an important skill for an assassin? I normally murder people with a dagger, because it feels real, but I guess an arrow and a bow could be my gun... Is it less probable that the guards find me?

Marksman is a handy skill, because it makes things a fair deal easier. If your sneaking well enough that you can slay things with a dagger, you may not need to use a bow, but it certainly helps not being detected, when you can attack an enemy from further away (although the multiplier is lesser).
