Hmmm, I disagree on some of the logic there, although I see where you're coming from.
Hlaalu doesn't just reward you with money, you recieve a near full set of Glass Armour for one quest, a choice of Daedric Weapons for another, sure the Telvanni provide very nice enchanted items, but it's a misconception to think of Hlaalu as only money-minded .
Also, while Redoran is a stereotypically 'noble' and pious House, all three Houses are pretty equally flawed, corrupt and xenophobic. Nonetheless, all three have character that are truly noble and admirable. So unless you're going all out Dunmer loyalist, you can roleplay as a noble and 'righteous' character from all three, IMHO.

But glass is no trouble to acquire on one's own with the right knowledge, and, if the latter reward you're talking about is for finding that ebony mine, I believe any character can do that 'quest' :p
Just a question, but what are the rewards like for Redoran? I've heard they're quite pitiful
The fact that I've completed that questline at least three times and can't remember says a lot, heh. You do a get a nice (266 max IIRC) medium ceremonial bonemold helm, but, anyone can basically walk in and steal it.
"Humanity? I don't see humanity anywhere, Otsdarva."
@Scoz, basically the rewards can range from ingredients like Hack-lo Leaf and Dreugh Wax, to potions to minor payments of gold (~200) to nothing in many cases.
The Ebony boots are for the disruption of the Caldera mines (Not for finding out its corrupted mind you).

Just on Hlaalu, the rewards are very money orientated you're right, but the thing is that you get so much that you may buy nearly anything. There are copious quests for 1,000 or at least 500 drakes, with some allowing you to gain 1,500.
The enchanted items are similar to the Redoran ones in quality (i.e. not super), so Telvanni probably edges them out on the rewards front, but still, you can collect many thousands of drakes by moving through the Hlaalu questline, allowing you to choose your own rewards.

I agree, Duruza, Hlaalu is not completely money crazed. I joined because of my Dunmer's distaste for slavery. So I think Hlaalu is the most noble house.

Aspiring apparition.
I think the Blades work under the Emperor, not Helseth. In fact, slaying Helseth might actually be something the Blades would like, come to think about it.
One thing though... I do kind of wish the Blades could have been more involved after Caius leaves Morrowind.
Do the Ashlanders count as a faction? Even though they have no true progression, no major benefits and no quests aside from compulsory main quest ones, I love them.
I find it slightly odd that here we have a lot of Telvanni fans, but over at Beth they have a lot of Hlaalu fans.
Anyhow, I normally count the Blades as a faction, because the main quest is basically their questline. Even though it's just you and Caius, I still feel like we're on a mission, and that there are other Blade spymasters stationed in other districts and provinces. It would have been nice to meet another spymaster later in the mainquest, or in Tribunal, just so I could feel like Caius was my 'mentor/master' and that there were other mentors out there, taking care of business and training other Blades.
I'd also count the Ashlanders, just like I count Knights of the White Stallion/Thorn, etc. as guilds in Oblivion.
Yeah that makes complete and perfect sense (although technically you do join when you become Nerevarine of each clan - No need to add them to the poll though). It would have been nice to experience more factions in-game, like the Cammona Tong and Ashlander Tribes, but the fact that they were included itself gives rise to new lore, and just because we can't play them doesn't mean that we can't enjoy them .
So far I've only completed the Legion. I've done about 2/5 of House Redoran, and about the same of the Fighters and Mages guilds.
The Legion was very good, for what it was. It was perfect to join as an outlander new to Morrowind looking for some work. You get nice armor, decent-ish rewards, and the final quests give you some great stuff. (Lords Mail/Chrysamare)
I'm doing the Tribunal Temple (not the DLC) quests right now, but have only done the first pilgrimage and the next quest after that. But from what I've heard you get some great loot. I really like the idea of doing jobs for the temple. The pilgrimages are great ways to explore.
House Redoran is more of a role-playing house from what I've seen, compare to what I've heard from other houses. If you want to be a noble fighter, this is your house, but it lacks any real motivation when it comes to rewards.
Fighter guild seems pretty generic imo. I've done on one character or another all of the Balmora quests and a chunk of the Vivec ones. The rewards seem fairly standard, some decent services, etc.
Mages guild is far more interesting than in Oblivion. It has a focus on research and learning, as well as policing magic. Also some politics. Where as Oblivion was extremely one-dimensional "Necromancy is evil. Fight against it."
I play LBP! PSN: dkjestrup, play my Sonnet of the Gargoyle level!
I can't help but laugh when the second most favored faction is the Morag Tong. After Telvanni, which I have no idea why people just adore this faction.
Must be the 'Rise of House Telvanni' mod; isn't it?

I seriously don't like Telvanni. I fell to my death after trying to get up into Therana's room. Stoopid . Living in mushrooms? The mushrooms look absurd.
I like Hlaalu more, mainly because their quests are interesting, partly because of their location, and partly because of something I can't put my finger on.
I like the Morag Tong because of the assassinations. I should put in legal, too.

Well we're only measuring joinable factions, so Indoril is out , but I'm surprised, last time I checked this thread out, Redoran was much less, or at least it was in proportion to House Hlaalu. In fact I do believe that the Morag Tong and House Telvanni weren't so far out in front of Hlaalu either . Anyhow, I'd be interested to see what peoples favourite of the Great Houses are, including the Six and House Dwemer (if you count them as a House) and House Sotha.
