Well, guess all I can say is that if I ever learned anything from John Wayne Good ole Western Movies, it was that the Cavalry always arrives in the last moment.

What you have in me is a slight nutcase, beg your pardon, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Ah well, at least it's something! :D

I was just looking at something and there was a quote from the Bible in it. It said something along the lines of in the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was God, and God was the Word. Does that mean that the trinity is nullified as there would have to be God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, and God the Word? Or is the Word the Father? :?

We're a bit on the edge here, and even if it's all happening in a friendly way I can see us moving along the road where I, as a moderator, would be forced to moderate myself...

I hope VirtualWeasel makes a statement in case he / she opposes?

The Trinity is disputed, as is the Divinity of Jesus [Christ]. I personally have no doubt about either.

What you refer to, POMC S117, is the first chapter of St. John, and in verse 14 (King James) it says And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us... which makes it quite clear that JESUS was the eternal Word > made to flesh = human. The first epistle (letter) of John tells the same thing.

There's quite a lot of material about God(s) being Astronauts = that only makes them real, doesn't it? We also have a lot of material about various Titans and such, and these are in fact all covered in the Bible. THE THING IS, has something that our present scientific perception of reality cannot comprehend occurred?

Like the XFiles - Is there something out there? And if there is, could it be God?

I've got a theory, what if the god from the bible is a paranoid-schizophrenic with multiple personalities (the devil) who he tries to blame for his faults? Makes some sense.

I accept that people believe in stuff, I just can't accept the belief that there's some sort of superior entity up in the skies. We live our lives as we please, and when we die, we turn to dust.

WHat happens to our soul, if such a one exists. I'm unsure about that, but it seems plausible. I do not know.

If it goes to heaven/hell, we can make our choice ourselves. No one is a judge in the afterlife.

I'm more happy about the hinduist belief that we come back, though not as animals.

Maybe we get reborn in alternate universes or parallel dimensions. But reborn we will be.

No it doesn't. Unless you mean he is schizophrenic due to him being the Father, the Son and the Spirit. The Devil is an ex-arch-angle Lucifer, who was jelous of God and there was supposedly a "civil war" in Heaven. Satan and his angels, along with serpents, against god and his angels. Then Satan was cast down from Heave into Hell and everything else is confusing.

JV, what do you mean you can accept me believing in what I want?

Everyone have the choice to do whatever they want. That's my belief. As such, I don't think any religion is better than any other. I incorporate different aspects of them into my own personal belief, but I don't believe in any exact religion myself, I'd rather take the best parts from each one.

What I meant was that because people have their own choices, I consider religions etc. to be the largest groups of people with similar beliefs. Accept was the wrong word, sorry about that.

But I still don't believe in anyone having grasped the truth, and I really have misgivings about religions.

Catholicism is maunly because of the crusades and their apparent lack of ability to leave choirboys alone (No offense). That, and the whole 'pay and you shall be saved'-view. What good is faith when you can go to heaven if you're rich?

JV, I am offended by that "they cannot leave choirboys alone" part. That is a complete and utter generalisation.

The Trinity has always bothered me. It wasn't what I was taught growing up so I've never cared for it much. They call Jesus the son of God. Yet he is also the father. Last time I checked my father and I are two different people. I know I going to hear the water, steam, ice explanation. But I still don't buy it. When Jesus was baptized God said this is my Son. Not this is me. Jesus refers to his father in heaven. And Jesus prays to God. Why!? If he was God then why pray to himself!? It makes more sense to me for God and Jesus to be separate. God is the father and his Son is Jesus. But the bible goes back and forth to support both ideas. Yet another reason why I no longer believe in God.

I said no offense. I'll admit it was a bit rough, but frankly, catholicism is going way too capitalistic. It's almost gone so far I have difficulties taking it serious as an organized faith, rather than an organized business.

While I know that most people who are catholics believe in what their religion says (And that's their right), I think the system catholicism builds on is a mighty tad outdated.

Sorry my friend but he has a point. I think people get mad not only because this seems to happen a lot but also in the way the church handled it. Moved them somewhere else!? Come on that's just not right.

That I find offending. Not so much in the way that it's your choice, but the fact that you don't post any constructive criticism of any part, and instead just throws mud at other people's choices.

Critizing is okay. Mudthrowing is not.

Meh. The only word I use that gets bleeped out I can use if I put a sufficient amount of Q's in it.

And yes, that is some kind of mudthrowing. I'm still christian, just in the lutheranic school of it. While Denmark is in the top 5 list of leats religious countries in the world (Along with, coincidentally, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and the Czech Republic), no religion desevres to be smothered like that.

And I didn't say so. It just seems that the governing organ of catholicism has a rather (in my eyes) odd way of doing things.

On a completely different note, I have finally offered your elf a seat.

I PERSONALLY think ALL religions should be smothered, I think one should be skeptic to everything until it's proven as a fact. For me, the existence of a deity has never been proven, and nobody seems to be able to find evidence. I'm with Buddha; do not take anything as a fact blindly. That being said, I've always been immensely fascinated by metaphysics, pseudoscience, etc.
