To see roughly in what order the bands that I like come (just the best, I like a ton of other bands too) imagine a staircase with two steps.
On the first step is Queen. I've been a fan since I was seven, and I've got pretty much all their albums. The greatest rock band of all time IMO.
Two artists are sharing the second step.
(This is the only band that is in my top three that is "current")
MODEST MOUSE FTW!!!!!
...and the third one is Rob de Nijs. Even though he's probably one of the most talented male singers ever, he is oddly little known in America. :-/

Wow it looks like al ot of person don't know the definition on current bands..lol anyways.
Anyways I'd say Green Day.
I Know that they've been accused of being ''Sold Outs'' or being too much commercial but honestly..I don't give a crap about it. Their music is not
extrordinary, the lyrics aren't that great, but I always liked their sounds, It feels like home when I listen to them, like if they ever knew what I wanna hear..kinda weird.

Look, there's 2 things, American Idiot and Green Day. There's a big difference between Green Day's 2004 American Idiot and like 1994 Dookie. An album don't make the band. And anyways they're in music for almost 20 years now and if they decided to throw us a bunch of propaganda, well that's Okay! And as you said they want people to listen to their opinions, well isn't it what every musician want?? Trying to make people know your point of view.Maximus_Bane83 wrote:TheBurglar wrote:Wow it looks like al ot of person don't know the definition on current bands..lol anyways.

Green Day's just a bunch of political propaganda set to music to disguise the fact that it's propaganda and to get tons of people to buy the CD and listen to their opinion.

On my iPod right now (that I can remember, I'm at work, iPod @ home)
Keane (super-good band)
Lenny Kravitz (greatest hits, lots of good stuff in there)
Nine Inch Nails (upto and including The Fragile)
Earsure (every major released album)
Tori Amos (sexy voice)
Andres Segovia (spanish acoustic guitar, the guy is the master!)
Simon and Garfunkle (Old Friends album)
Remioromen (Japanese, very cool stuff)
Best of Opera A to Z
Various Classical - Mozart, Bach, Purcell, Bethoven, etc
Dr. Dre (chronic and 2001)
Various trance/techno concerts
I have a wide taste in music... basicly anything but country is fair game.

I have to object to you referring to Keane as 'super-good'. I'll leave you with this. I can't remember who said it, I'm afraid, it was someone on the telly-box.Esvedium wrote:On my iPod right now (that I can remember, I'm at work, iPod @ home)

I used to be a bleeding-arse metal fan, so had you caught me a few years ago, I probably would have given you a list twenty pages long full of \m/ \m/ emoticons and Metallica bashing. But ever since my "garage band" opened for Nightwish (in New York City, with Special Guest Jens Johansonn, playing a cover of "Symphony of Destruction" by Megadeth!!!) it's all gone down hill. I first noticed it with Opeth- after I got into Opeth, I lost interest in a lot of my old favorite bands, since I knew everything they did, Opeth did better (seriously, I've noticed a lot of metal fans on this board, DON'T LISTEN TO OPETH. They're too good for their own good, literally) And, after a slow, steady decline, I've found that I no longer have any diehard band loyalties, and it's just a whole mess of various kinds of music which I'm inclined towards with various amounts of indifference.
If you had to press me, lately I've been listening to a lot of Niyaz, Lords of Acid, Armin van Buuren, Rev Horton Heat, Alizee (yeah, the WoW chick), Lady Sov, Bjork, In Extremo (better than Rammstein, btw), Snoop, and various stuffy classical [&@%!] music (Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and Satie mainly). My "old school" faves revolved mainly around Mike Patton's dozen or so bands, Hevy Devy, Metallica, Megadeth, White Zombie, various goth, psychobilly, and/or punk bollocks (I still have to admit, Henry Rollins is the coolest man on earth), and *insert Scandinavian and/or pretentious guitar snob metal band here*. My all-time fave, the band I've got the absolute fondest memories of, is probably GWAR (if you have to ask, you'll never know) but again, I haven't been listening to them much in a long time.
