TES: RTS Game
Anychance of a The Elder Scroll's Real time strategy game? seem's pretty logical to me and can be easily done. The series has all the race's, building style's, classes and weaponary to make this possible.

Re: TES: RTS Game
I've thought about this idea before, and it seems like it could work pretty well, perhaps in a Warcraft III-esque manner (as far as handling magic and heroes goes).
I'd love for this game as a real RTS fan, but Beth would have to outsource it, so I don't know. It's not really their priority.
There's another thread which is long dead, which might be a good read, Here's a link. I'm interested to see what kind of discussion pops up, as I think it's a good idea.

Re: TES: RTS Game
I always considered the next step for TES would be an MMO :p
But, hey an RTS would be great too. The thread that Duruza linked to has a lot of great points, such as the ability to reenact the larger battles or more epic moments of the series. Examples (from Oblivion): The Battle for Kvatch, The Defense of Bruma...

Re: TES: RTS Game
I would love a TES RTS! That would be amazing.
One campaign could expand on the Argonian-Dunmer conflict, while another could do the big battles from Oblivion. You could make your own maps, have custom-made skirmishes and create a hero to lead your armies.
There could be DLC's that would add new factions like the KOTN and Dark Seducers. One could also add Tiber Septim's army.
The Dunmer leader would be Vivec. The Imperials would have Uriel Septim.

Obviously, it has to be available to everyone! So it has to be on console, or else!

Re: TES: RTS Game
As long as it doesn't take time from the development of future ES titles, I'd say yes to an RTS spinoff.

Agreed Mars, as long as it doesn't take time from the development of future games. But it would be amazing. Imagine fight off hordes of Bosmer in the deserts of Eylswer, or defending Bruma from the Daedra horde. A DLC could even include Akavir!

Re: TES: RTS Game
I've dreamed of a tes rts for years. I'd love it if all the races had their own campaign, like the orcs vs the redguards/bretons or the bosmer vs khajiit. All the units they could have, like the orc berzerker or the Bosmer archer or even the battle cats.

Just get Obsidian Entertainment to work on one, let Bethesda carry on with the Awesome RPG's.

Re: TES: RTS Game
Has Obsidian ever done an RTS?
The only companies I know of that have done good RTS games in the past are Westwood Studios, who got bought out and dissolved by EA, Ensemble Studios, who got similarly dissolved by Microsoft, and Blizzard, but they have their own fantasy RTS games.

Re: TES: RTS Game
I think an RTS would be really cool, and I would probably buy it, but it wouldn't sell as well as the RPGs do, so I don't know if Bethesda would do one or not

They'd have to outsource it. Maybe to one of the four studios that were built out of the ashes of Ensemble?

Re: TES: RTS Game
I would love an ES RTS game, but the development of one would likely detract from the main series. Unless they make one at the very end, after they make a game that covers all of Nirn (Once computers are powerful enough to render that). I would like different scenarios showing major events. Hopefully from many factions, I would love to play as the daedra in the sacking of Kvatch.

I might actually attempt to make one. There's this basic game programming thing called Scratch that I can understand.

Re: TES: RTS Game
I really don't hope it will look anything like Warcraft III I think it's so horrible I can't even stand watching it.OblivionDuruza wrote:I've thought about this idea before, and it seems like it could work pretty well, perhaps in a Warcraft III-esque manner (as far as handling magic and heroes goes).

Anyway, oh yes! This is a mighty fine idea I'd surely be play TES: RTS if such a game was to come!
I think it would work out very well. The Might & Magic series is an rpg, but eventually the Heroes of Might & Magic games grew more on people and are stille loved by (us) fans today. At least Heroes II and III is. I don't care much for IV and V

Oh certainly not aesthetically, but as far as the implementation of magic and some of the mechanics of the game. I think Warcraft did a number of things well, although AoE II is still my favourite RTS game.

Re: TES: RTS Game
I think a fan project would be the better solution here over having a professional studio make the RTS game. Face it, the vast majority of RTS games are just terrible (Or at least as far as I'm concerned). Something created in the total war engine would simply be awesome. So either pray that Bethesda gets Creative Assembly or we can hope a fan will do it for us.

Re: TES: RTS Game
Er..you people do know that there is infact a TES RTS (specifically Morrowind-based) with the Rome Total War engine?
As really, the Total War Engine works much better than (say) the Dawn of War Engine. That and the DOW Engine would mostly rely on us creating animations of building structures and the like, creation of new models, which would be extremely difficult concerning the texture design DOW uses for 'humanoid' creatures.

Here's one; http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthrea ... tal-War-!-**
http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-total-war This uses Medeval II's engine which is technically apart of Total War's engine.
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=39926 More pics
Though the game has not yet been 'released' - we can obviously see the texture designs for characters if you wish to base them off.
So far it's been a year since they started.
