Problem when Loading Auto- and Quick-saves in Interior Cells

Post by OblivionDuruza »

I've been experiencing this problem whereby whenever I try to load a save in an interior cell, it the loading bar fills up and then the game freezes and the screen flickers (there is no problem with the monitor though). If it does load (if not an auto/quicksave, but a normal save), the character is frozen in place (although they can pivot on the spot) and you can see a set of backwards arms protruding from where the character's back was at saving, as well as your weapon in it's correct position at the time of saving.

It's happening only on one particular character (my younger brother's Orc) and has only been an issue since he messed up the Azani Blackheart quest by looting Blackheart's body before the quest updated himself. Since then I have used the console to fix the quest because he has a habit of not informing be immediately when something goes wrong, partly because he might not have realised, and he had no save just before it and couldn't really be bothered going back to the last backup I made.

This has only happened to that character and not my own, who has also completed the Blackheart quest, although the proper way.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem? It has rendered auto and quick saves useless to that character unless made in exterior cells, and is quite inconvenient. I have a duty and guilt to fix this for him, he's level 14 and doesn't want to start from scratch after progressing far in the Main Quest and Fighters' guild, and completing the Arena.

Does this sound like what you've been experiencing? The problem they were having was on the Xbox, though, so not sure if it applies to your case.

Some of it fits, but in my brother's case, the screen didn't freeze. The similarity would be the save files affected, but that discussion doesn't mention anything about odd arm and weapon placements. :|

It may be due to the same cause.
