I just bought a filled soulgem for 60k, and I decided not to use it. if it was something useless like a book or something I might just find a random container in balmora, but I don't want to lose 60k.
if I just killed someone in a house could I store my stuff there? like the fighters guild quest to kill the ogre woman, could I just store my crap there?
What's a good place to store your stuff?

99% of all containers are safe in Morrowind, so... Should be fine.

Might I suggest St. Delyn Waist North-Two, a little out of the way, but pretty safe an unoccupied from the get go.

All containers in Morrowind are safe in as much as they will not reset and so you loose your items.
However, many containers are owned by an NPC. If you add items to them, when you remove those items their ownership will be changed to that of the container owner. They will be then considered stolen items and should you ever get arrested they will be confiscated by the guards.
Another however, sometimes if the owner is dead, the containers will not change ownership but it by no means a rule and if you say which house you intend to use, you will be advised on it.

Yes, the containers in that house will be safe after you have killed her.Bluehotdog5 wrote: if I just killed someone in a house could I store my stuff there? like the fighters guild quest to kill the ogre woman, could I just store my crap there?

i actually always tried to find smaller places that had lots of containers rather than huge sprawling mansions. i guess i just don't like stampeding up and down stairs to fetch things. sometimes a locked house even in a remote fishing village would have plenty of storage space. however, i'm pretty minimal when it comes to collecting; most of the weapon artifacts i just sell to the talking mudcrab, so he sort of becomes a second default storage place.
