Going on child murdering rampage?
Okay I feel this is a little innapopriate but.. I guess nobody talked much about it.. kids in Skyrim, would you be able to kill them? For Fallout 3 they didin't to cross the line of child murdering simulation.. ''for Fallout 3 that is'' (don't remember where I got that quote but still!) Would you think it would be possible to bash the skull of a 9 years old with a two handed war axe? I feel.. I don't know but from my opinion this would SERIOUSLY add to the roleplay when playing a evil or twisted character SERIOUSLY! But at what cost

oh yhea that's a point I never heard before.. but STILL I would somehow ''like'' to see my Dark Brotherhood Listener throw the body of a kid in a lake because if nobody sees the crime nobody reports it=no bounty (probably no infamy).. this would add so much.. the whole ''omg this is inhuman'' appart of course..

I will download a mod, kill all the children in Skyrim, then proceed into doing it in real life.

I say it will just be like Fallout 3 where you can't actualy hurt children but i'm sure there will be mods for this though

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
i never understood why that was so taboo, kids can die just a easily, easier actually, that adults. who are they sheltering from this? In fallout i hated not being able to kill those little [&@%!] in little lamplight, and i know i will feel the same way in skyrim.
The sad truth is, kids today will never know why pikachu is never inside a pokeball.

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
The difference is Children really can't fight back, they symbolize innocence etc. If you go around killing kiddies, well, that's just evil.
I'm sure they will have children die, just not killed. They did it pretty well in Fable 2 -- two/three children could possibly die, and Plus, one child transformed into a monster and was killed.

It's just because a ton of over protective moms will go "Why would you let my baby play a game like this?!" When in reality they can set a parental lock and/or, take the game away and/or, return it for a more "mom friendly" game. Not saying all moms are like this, just in case there are any UESP moms.

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
If you really desperate to kill children you should play Rule of Rose. You play as a teenage chick being harassed by 9 year old orphan buggers. You can kill them with a fork, mop brush, a handgun and a crazy dog.
I'm glad that Bethesda won't allow us to kill children in Fallout 3 and I hope they will still doing that for Skyrim. Give that little buggers a chance to be orphan at least. But I'm sure there will be mod for this killing spree

Just because you cant kill them doesn't mean you cant beat them into unconcsiousness several million times.

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
they wont allow player inflicted child deaths in Skyrim
there's a long list of reasons that includes legal problems (already mentioned), certification of the game (to adult only) and recent studies pretty conclusively proving that violent games de-sensitise young gamers to that violence. Trouble is that there is still a generation gap between gamers (even though some of us are ourselves getting pretty old) and older non gamers, who see all sorts of evils in computer games. THe same thing happened before with video nasties and resulted in a load of movies being sensored. The wailing of the moral minority also caused Clockwork Orange to be banned in the UK by Stanley Kubrick. Killing children in a game can only fuel this and vocal parents have a lot of clout with the regulators. Imo changing a game, its cert and risking controversy for the sake of a rampage or two just isn't worth it.
when lil lamplighters annoyed me, i found going up the canyon to the deathclaw sanctuary and beating a few of them to death with a lead pipe was great therapy

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
You should be able to kill them but old moral guardians would complain because they don't see video games as art but rather childrens' playthings and shops would pull the game of the shelves and Bethesda would lose a lot of money. Then again Games are protected as an art in the USA now so maybe one day. I don't think there is anything video games shouldn't be allowed to do that any other artform does but society isn't there yet.

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
They should just leave them out. If they want them in to make the game more immersive, they can't at the same time add a function that completely ruins immersion. It's just dumb.
I play this huge dragon-slaying hero, who kills giants, monsters and whole cities, but children I can't touch? Come on.
I mean, it's not like I want to do it, but at least give me the chance.

society also isnt ready for mainstream movies to show the first person messy slaughter of childrenKnight Captain Kerr wrote:I don't think there is anything video games shouldn't be allowed to do that any other artform does but society isn't there yet.

I agree, It's not that I want to kill children, but having the option there makes the game more realistic.

I would feel uncomfortable with doing that in a game.
Plus in Fallout 3, you could blow up Megaton which did have 2 children in it so technically, although you didn't see it, you could.

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
See this is something I don't like; I don't really want to kill child characters either, what I don't like is being unable to, for the purely arbitrary and reactionary reasons.
Children are also easily the most annoying things ever, so you could easily argue that games should have the ability to kill them, to stop you doing it in real life

If you actually are considering murdering anyone seek immediate help. I'm not joking, if the only thing stopping you is a freaking video game see a psychiatrist before you end up hurting someone.Haravikk wrote:... you could easily argue that games should have the ability to kill them, to stop you doing it in real life

Re: Going on child murdering rampage?
He makes a fair point, disturbing implications aside. Video games have provided us with a way to vent our aggression without hurting anyone. Better they kill a child in a tamriel than in our world.AKB wrote:If you actually are considering murdering anyone seek immediate help. Either way, if your only means of venting is electronic entertainment (Without which you believe you may murder people) seek mental help. That is a clear sign of mental issues that need to be resolved as soon as possible.

I put the smiley their to highlight I wasn't being completely seriousAKB wrote:If you actually are considering murdering anyone seek immediate help. I'm not joking, if the only thing stopping you is a freaking video game see a psychiatrist before you end up hurting someone.
My point is that it's all just stress release; anyone disturbed enough to mimic what they see in a game is going to do something serious with or without the game there, but for the rest of us it's all just merry stress release. I mean, how many Oblivion related murders of short people with huge yellow quiffs have there been?
If the children have to be invincible then fine, but the condition is that there be no annoying ones, the worst thing is when there's a snotty kid insulting you in a game and there's nothing you can do about it.

In Fallout 3, if you shoot children, they scream and run away. Skyrim could do something like that.

I already fear that the mod community will make..... Very strange mods that include those children.

If they don't attack, I would have absolutely no problem with it; however, in FO3 they have weapons in Wittle Wamplight and it was not fun to encounter invincible creatures with wazer wifles.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:The difference is Children really can't fight back,
