In Fallout though clicking the right analogue stick is for grabbing, which I think makes a lot of sense since it's not as common an action.DarthVader317 wrote:One of the bumpers is for dragon shouts, IIRC. I'd image the other is for the grab function like in Oblivion.

Re: Blocking
Fallout just swapped the 3rd person view and grab buttons from what they were in Oblivion. So even if they use a control scheme closer to Fallout than Oblivion it wouldn't change anything.

Re: Blocking
Is the block on longswords possibly abolished for realism or to promote different types of combat styles? I haven't figured out a reason why by looking through the posts.

Re: Blocking
I'd still like to dual-wield shields. You know, just Bash everything to death. Be cool if you could put up your shield and pretty much just shove someone into a fire or something to kill them. Be hilarious.

Re: Blocking
You probably can! In the demo they showed the player throwing down some type of rune that the enemy stepped on, and killed them. You could throw one down behind your enemy or next to them, get around them and shove them into it, hilarity ensues.SquareRobot wrote:I'd still like to dual-wield shields. Come, Nerevar. Friend or traitor, come.
Re: Blocking
What if blocking while dual wielding could be done by pressing down the scroll wheel (RB on Xbox, R1 on PS3)?

Re: Blocking
If you ask me, i would see bethesda getting rid of the grab funtion used with L2 (LT for Xbox user's) rather than not being able to block with a single handed weapon seem's alot more logical to me and more important. What was so fascinating about the L2 - LT button in Oblivion for Console users? we have 3 dimensional item's menu's now so no there's no interest in grabbing an item to have a closer look with the grab button. Lose the grab funtion and replace it with Block, simple as.

Re: Blocking
No, i can tell you right now blocking with duel wield weapon's is going to be done by holding down R1 and L1 (LB n RB for Xbox user's), Just like merging a spell into a more powerful one when equipped in both hands by holding down R1 and L1.BillDAWG wrote:What if blocking while dual wielding could be done by pressing down the scroll wheel (RB on Xbox, R1 on PS3)?
Or if they replace L2, LB from being able to grab an item to just being able to block, like in my above post.

Re: Blocking
But I want to grabs stuff, how can I put stuff in my displays case?
They'll find a way, you'll still be able to block with a single hand [presumably the opposite trigger], dual wield [both?] etc. I'm sure of it. You can all beat me up if not.

Re: Blocking
Even so, they can still implement the grab funtion from the inventory menu, so you can use L2 or LB to grab an item from the menu to put where ever you like, but in game, L2 or LB will serve as the block funtion. There's so many ways around it i dont see why people are even worried.MathiasFlynnias wrote:But I want to grabs stuff, how can I put stuff in my displays case?

As long as the controls are still fluent and don't take a while to get into, I am happy.

I hate how there are SO many buttons to get used too. Goodness, it just does my head in. I spend hours [&@%!] and fumbling round with ALL the buttons on an Xbox or PS3 controller. Ooooh heavens above save me now, the long hours of duress trying to get all the buttons pushed in the correct order and at the right time. Please baby Jesus in your manger, save us all.MathiasFlynnias wrote:As long as the controls are still fluent and don't take a while to get into, I am happy.

Re: Blocking
Seriously people? if you's are being sarcastic here you's may have to help me out as it doesn't transfer well over the web, but back on topic, there's like 8 button's with primary funtion's on console pad's! it's not like its a freakin qwerty keyboard.

Re: Blocking
Perhaps you can only grab items when your weapon is sheathed? Just a thought to throw out there...

Re: Blocking
That's a good possibility actually, and would make sense; the lack of grab in Oblivion has always been annoying, mostly for cosmetic reasons, since telekinesis is far too clumsy for moving stuff to specific places so I really hope they find some way to keep that feature, even if it's in a kind of secondary way to avoid it taking up space on the pad.Ben wrote:Perhaps you can only grab items when your weapon is sheathed? In fallout 3 it's R3 (click right analogue stick), but that will probably be third-person view in Skyrim, unless a two-button control handles that (which would make sense since frequent third-person to first-person switching isn't important).

It would also make sense as with your weapon sheathed, you will have a your hands free to grab the object, rather than it just floating around in front of youHaravikk wrote:That's a good possibility actually, and would make sense; the lack of grab in Oblivion has always been annoying, mostly for cosmetic reasons, since telekinesis is far too clumsy for moving stuff to specific places so I really hope they find some way to keep that feature, even if it's in a kind of secondary way to avoid it taking up space on the pad.Ben wrote:Perhaps you can only grab items when your weapon is sheathed?
