It was dusk by the time the group reached the base at the estate. But it was amazing.

Many well-armed men and women (both Human and Elven) patrolled the base. They carried knives, swords, submachine guns, rifles, rocket launchers, and much more. A few tanks were hidden by the brush near the entrance. About six rebels were working on each tank's repairs.

The armored car moved through the entrance itself. The rebels that stood guard there saluted Logan, Dragovan, and Lyra. "Here we are." Lyra said to the eight mortals in the back. It was different. Each of the rebels appeared healthy, happy, and ready to fight (unlike the poor mortal residents of Empire City). This was the way life was supposed to be.

The car made its way down the path that led to the main building - a giant fortified mansion at the center of the property that was guarded by at least 100 rebels. The property was huge. It covered at least a mile. The rebels were able to use the thick wilderness that surrounded the area to hide the base.

Ten rebels were lined up in front of the building. They each wore dark military uniforms and stood up straight with their firearms held at their chests, just as a true military force's soldiers should. When the car stopped in front of them, one of the soldiers stepped forward. "Greetings, Fox Squad." he said to Logan, Lyra, and Dragovan.

Logan nodded. "We've got the eight."

"Good." said the soldier.

Two other soldiers then opened the doors of the armored car, allowing the eight mortals to get out of the vehicle. The soldier that had been speaking to Logan looked at them. He pointed to a large beautiful building across the wide path at the left side of the building. "Those will be your new quarters." he said to the eight. "That building contains eight beds, each accompanied by a large chest to keep your personal belongings inside. Don't worry, there are showers inside as well. Please go and get some rest. General Sanchez shall meet you at dawn. There, you can ask any questions you may have. Afterwards, your training will begin."

Gladro nodded at the rebel. He left the armoured car and in a casual stride made his way to his quarters, confident that all his questions would be answered at dawn.

Peter quickly maneuvered to the group's newfound quarters, claiming the bed on the end of the first row- with only one other bed adjacent to his own, he would be afforded a bit of privacy.

Gladro picked the bed that was next to Peter. "I hope that Ashriel kid doesn't try to do any wierd stuff in my sleep." he thought to himself.

Aarys followed the others in, and laid down in a bed without really caring about it's position. She stretched out, and sighed contentedly. She remained awake, however.

"Oh, great, a chest to keep my belongings. I was just wondering were I was going to store my stuffed elephant collection." Ashriel mumbled and collapsed on his bed.

Gladro undressed down to his underwear, placing the rest of his clothes in the chest. He then climbed into his bed.

Hremai picked a bed close to a window, and fell asleep immediately, not even bothering to make obnoxious comments or undressing.

Lithinilillin climbed out of the car, glad to able to move again. He cracked his joints and walked to his bed. The bed seemed too aluring to ignore so he simply let himself fall on it without bothering to undress.

Valentin stretched for about five minutes after exiting the car. He hated that damn vehicle. But he eventually went into the building and sat on his bed. He was tired. But he still didn't feel like sleeping. He soon fell asleep anyway, however.

Laeriel slid out of the vehicle, at last. She didn't feel particularly tired, or at least not physically so. Taking the opportunity to view everything and come to a conclusion about the possibility of having a revolution, she swiveled all around in her spot. After a few moments of smelling, watching, and listening, the elf trotted after the others.

More looking around commenced as she entered the bedrooms, her ears twitching as she examined everything in sight. Eventually, Laeriel settled down in a bed close to Ashriel's, seeming less jumpy when in the presence of another Frost Elf.

It was raining the next morning. At 6 AM, three rebel soldiers entered the sleeping quarters of the eight mortals. Behind them was an old, hardened man with a long white beard. Despite his age, he appeared very physically fit and her wore a very respectable officer's uniform, much like the ones worn by Shard officers.

"Awaken, my friends!" the old man said loudly in a deep and cheerful manner. "I am General Augustus Sanchez!"

Ashriel rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Uh. Who are you again?" He asked lazily.

Gladro awoke in a tired state. He got out of his bed and got dressed. Great, I bet this guy is going to drag us away from a nice base and throw us on a truck. he thought to himself.

"And hope that you will not be fighting for your homeland?" Sanchez asked Hremai with a serious expression. "Here." he held out an eyepatch for the Drow woman to take. "Wear this over your eye. Logan explained everything to me."

Aarys sat up and yawned, noticing General Sanchez. "Oh... Ah, nice to meet you. Uh, Sir." She said sheepishly. From the respect the other rebels had bestowed on him, she supposed he must be capable.

Laeriel inhaled deeply, her eyes blinking drowsily open upon the loud voice of the General. They quickly widened as she registered what had been said.

"You...you're the General?" Grasping the sheets with one hand and pulling them up to her chest, the elf squinted at the man. "I...was expecting a more ceremonious entrance, but I guess this isn't the time for ceremonies..."
