To be vague,Rock. More precisely, Alternative Rock. Because there's always a better way of doing something.

Most metal genres, but otherwise I also dig punk, hardcore punk, post-punk, rock and post-rock. And a couple of things here and there.

Hat, you should know your not alone here. Hip-Hop and Rap are my favorite genres, though I do country music a lot and some rock in general. I don't know anywhere near enough about rock to know exactly the type, but I suppose it might be called soft rock maybe.HatofMadness wrote:I like everything. Re: Your favorite genre of music?
In no particular order:
IDM 'Braintrance'
Trip Hop
Garage Rock/Blues
Acid House
Post Rock
DnB
Shoegaze
Alternative Hip Hop
Real Punk Rock (as in The Clash, not Blink 182)
Alternative Rock (sucky definition, as most of it's utter crap, but there's no better term)
I like other genres besides them, but they're the top. In general, I like every one of the big genres provided it isn't metal.

POWER METAL! yhea I love that lol but I'm more a ''atmospheric dude'' and so I'm more into such things as:
-doom metal (atmospheric or technical (wait technical doom!!???? D:)
-1940-50's jazz (began to love it with Metal Gear Solid 3's soundtrack -learned english with that game also- (terrible english))
-some weird techno pop that I really really love.. if my Mac's battery weren't dead I would throw some bands I'm too stupid to remember =.=

I find myself listening to pretty much anything, but if you want me to boil it down to only a handful of genres, it will have to be:
- Post Rock
- Drum and Bass
- Alternative Rock
- Classic Rock

Hard to decide. I guess, it would boil down to jazz., classic rock and metal.

Video game soundtracks and their remixes. Beyond that, I really don't care as long as it's not death metal, gangsta rap, or country.

Punk Rock.
Thrash Metal.
Heavy Metal.
Nu Metal and pretty much every other type of metal.
And the occasional pop punk/soft rock.
And country for my more mellow times.

Re: Your favorite genre of music?
why does everyone on here like metal...
id rather listen to someone rap about hard times than listen to and try to understand a skinny sweaty guy gargling marbles while he dances around and yells about death and sadness.
just saying, street knowledge all the way

Dont group all music into one stereostype, i could just as easily say that all rap is about glorifying violence and murder, and bragging about how much money you have.Sonixboom wrote:why does everyone on here like metal...

Re: Your favorite genre of music?
if you have to ask what street knowledge is, you probably dont have it
it sounds cliche when one says something of the sort, but, depending on how your life has gone(experience's and such), "street knowledge" may be the only thing that keeps you alive

Re: Your favorite genre of music?
I've a quite a good range. I dislike rap/hip-hop music, though.
I have lots of metal, either fringing on power metal, folk metal, or the heavier sides of metal. I kind of don't care what generally is considered "heavy metal" with bands like Metallica and Megadeth, as I have a much higher requirement of what "heavy" metal is.

Re: Your favorite genre of music?
When I studied music, there was some weird-ass prestige in listening to and playing jazz music. I didn't go unaffected by that. Nowadays, however, I mostly listen to hip-hop. Not the gangsta kind though, I like it more laid-back and less cursing and bragging. To me, good lyrics is just as important as the music.
Other than that, I can enjoy most kinds of music. Except metal. I hate metal.

You a Rakim fan? There's a lot of great hip hop artists out there, but he's easily my favourite for lyrical quality. The Number None wrote:Nowadays, however, I mostly listen to hip-hop. Yeah, definitely. I'm not particularly fond of the style of his beats though. Dunno why... I think they're a bit dull, usually overscratched. As for the lyrical quality... he's one of the best.Veck wrote:You a Rakim fan? The Roots and Atmosphere are probably my favorites right now.
