Hi all, Loved Oblivion and wanted to play Morrowind for a long time but always had trouble adapting from Oblivion to Morrowind and usually can't get very far before i get sick of it. I keep hearing that Morowind is at least as awesome as Oblivion and most say its better so I really wanted to try it and since I haven't played Oblivion for a long time I am finally able to get over the graphical and game play differences. Wanted to try to finish it before Skyrim comes out and so far its been awesome
I do have a few things I need some help or explanation for and hence I return to the forums here!
Firstly I got attacked by some sort of mage and I assume my luck and personality were damaged in the fight. I drank a potion of restore luck but I don't have one fore personality, is there any other way to get it back?
Also is there any way to tell what you have been effected by? eg can you see in any of the menus if u have a disease or if a stat has been damaged? I see at the moment my personality is red so i assume it is damaged?
Thanks for any help, I'm sure I'l be back with more questions XD

For restoration of your attributes the easiest way is to visist a temple shrine in one of the legion forts or an almsivi shrine in one of the native temples, for a small fee you can get your attributes restored there.
All effects that you can see are in the magic bar to the right of your screen, although some effects are not displayed there and can only be seen by attributes colored in red.
Hey thanks for the response, if i got to the temple do I have to speak to someone there like a healer or something, or do I go to the shrine/rock thing?

You approach and activate the Shrine then you select the appropriate option (depending on what you require - blessing, cure disease etc.). A small fee is required, usually about 30 Drakes.
Cool I didn't realize there was an upstairs part of the temple, needed to go to a different shrine as they seem to have different options the ones downstairs didn't have any restore attribute sorta effects.
Also do silver weapons hurt ghosts like in Oblivion as I can't find any enchanted weapons that I have a good stat for? Think I need to buy some sort of sliver Axe or Hammer.

Hmmm ok is there any easy way to get around vivec city? Its a pretty confusing place. I am looking for a shop owned by Ralen Tilvur and I have absolutely no idea how to find it :/

It really helps to learn what canton the people are in. Once you know which canton they're in, the rest is easy. The cantons are the islands, the upper floor is the plaza. The next floor down (Accessed from the same floor outside, the plaza just has stairs leading up to the door while this door does not) is the upper waistworks. From there, in some cantons you can take a door down to the lower waistworks, while others will need you to go down a level outside to do that. From the lower waistworks, you can take a door to the canalworks, and from there you can take a trapdoor to the underworks. Ralen Tilvur is in the foreign quarter plaza. If you go from the silt strider or boat (basically the north-most bridge to the land), that'll lead you to the foreign quarter. Just head to the top and search the plaza.
Also, FYI, foreign canton is the northmost. South of that are 4 more cantons, from west to east being Hlaalu, Redoran, Arena, and Telvani. South of those cantons are two more, St. Delyn to the west, and St. Olms to the right. South of that is the High Fane, and south of that is the Palace of Vivec. It should be noted that, when in doubt, go to the foreign quarter. You ARE an outlander, and most people who'll talk to you and most things that are of interest to your quests are there. That's not to say that the other canton have nothing of value, but the foreign quarter has the guilds, Jobasha's Rare Books (which you'll be going to a LOT if you need a book), and many other interesting shops.
“Fine day” said the young man.
“Gods!” hollered Zaki, sending the young man flying with a well-placed punch, and dashing away.
Most shops are in the Foreign Quarter (Ralen Tilvur can be found there too). I wont give too much away, but if you do need more help, just type his name into Google, the UESP article on the quest your doing should be the second one down (I just checked now, but the internet is constantly changing).
I like to utilise the little gondola system in Vivec City, each trip is about 3 Drakes (Gold) and it is much faster than walking.
The Guild Guide is helpful as a way of getting easy access to the Foregin Quarter, the central hub of the city as far as the player is concerned (perhaps after the Canton of your Great House).
i found a good levitiate spell got me round vivec much easier. There are windwalker scrolls which are more like flying and are available from good mage merchants after a certain level.
I also used to take some glowing flowers from under the hovering meteorite and leave them on corners of some cantons so i could recognise where i was in the fog
it takes some doing to get levitate, potions are usually the best way tbh but for me its one of the main things to do in Morrowind, really good fun and mega useful
LOL so I have accidently deleted the inventory menus that show my stats and items and magic stuff, and the map that come up when you right click...any idea how i can get them to come back?

Hi Liver, did you hit the little square in the corner of the menu?
If so, you should click on the icon in the bottom corner of your screen. Click on your current weapon for the inventory menu, the current spell for the magic menu and so on. That should help.
Yeah I'm getting used to the controls and things much better but still not to sure what i'm doing exactly, I think Morrowind is in general a much more difficult game than Oblivion was. I like that you need to get skills to a certain point before you can advance in a guild/fraction, but each one requires different skill sets. One thing I do find amusing is that playing as a barbarian class nord, I am in the thieves guild and mages guild but not the fighters guild XD
Oh well, one thing I'm wondering about though, several people have asked me to kill cammora tong members. Without giving to much away if I choose to attack them will that effect later quests and or training/batter options?

I agree, Oblivion is much easier to pick up and play.
On the Cammona Tong question, I am guessing that the request came from a Legionnaire? Regardless, you cannot join the Cammona Tong, so killing the members in Balmora (if that is the quest you are talking about) shouldn't be a problem (I tend to off them, particularlly because it fits my Roleplaying style ). Some of them do offer training though, so keep that in mind as training skills is much better in Morrowind than in Oblivion. In addition, the barkeep may join the fray, even though you do not need to kill him. This will make you lose his barter service, as well as the barter services of one or two of the Cammona Tong members, but it will mean that you can sleep in the bed down stairs for free whenever you want .

In all cases, let anyone hit you first so you don't get a bounty for killing them. Use taunt, or frenzy humanoid. This is only in cities, in the wilderness, its open season
That is my favourite thing about Morrowind. KILL ALL TRAVELERS!

So I have been having a problem with alchemy, more of a technical issue, but when I go to make a potion it will sometimes ask me to type a potion name even when there is already a name for it. When this happens I have no way of making a potion and need to start it again with varying degrees of success
Also where is the Telvanni Council Hall? I cannot find it anywhere, I need to talk to someone that is supposedly there but it does not seem to exist >:(

Actually, I have this problem too. I haven't found a way to get around it yet, so it really !@#$'s me off.

Yep, I think I've finally sorted out all my issues too .
I've got the Code Patch on my old PC, but am yet to start installing mods on the new one (although I'm working off a list). I've never encountered that alchemy bug though (in the vanilla I mean), but then again, I don't make lots of potions, I prefer to sell most ingredients.
I've been looking at this (MGSO) as an overhaul. Other things like Morrowind 2011, looked interesting, but I'm not going to touch it unless all the legal issues are solved.
