No Arena in Arena? WTH?

I just read this article on cRPG Addict:

"The Elder Scrolls: Arena is notable for not having an arena, nor having anything to do with an arena (not to mention any scrolls). The story, apparently, is that the game was supposed to be about gladiatorial combat but it changed in the development stage. No one told the marketing department."

Is it true that there are no arenas in Arena?

Also, can I legitimately buy or download this game somewhere if I want to try it?

I'm using Win7 64-bit, so I assume I need to use a DOS emulator of some sort, no?

From the little that I have played, that's right, there are no arenas! Supposedly, in the game files, you can still see notes from the original idea, including the names of the arenas' teams. However, it is explained in-game that Tamriel is such a violent world that people started to call it the "Arena".

Bethesda released the game for free on its tenth anniversary. Downloads can be found here. The first link on the page has the game all ready to go for the newer computers and also includes optional patches and such. The second link is Beth's version but you do need a DOS emulator for it (they recommend DOSBox). I used the first link and it was quick and easy!

Originally Arena was supposed to be a game where you travelled around fighting in different Arenas across the continent. However, during development, this idea evolved giving us the Elder Scrolls RPGs as we know them today. Here's a link so you can read more.

Yeah, as the two guys before me said, there are no arenas, wich is kinda sad but its a old game... All we can hope now is that Skyrim have Arenas :3

GIve this game a shoot, I did and feel inlove with it if you can get past the graphics, although it kind of reminded me of Everquest which might have been one of the main reason I enjoyed the game so much.

Might like to start a new thread to get more attention, but it should. You'll need DOSBox or similar though. The Beth site is really helpful, I was able to get it all running from there.
