v. close.

Not the Khajiits.

That's sort of what the "We deliver all the time" is refering to, but it covers alot more than that.

As I said before, think of the colours.....

FINAL ANSWER:

The Black Horse Courier. The women who deliver it cannot be named, they are just four breton females, that never visit Bravil or Skingrad, they ride horses that are "black as night" and they offer free news. And their skin is bright white (the womens')

No, silly, HORSES is the answer!

We are cheap up in the frozen north and the swampy south = paint horses in Leyawin
Don't look at me, I didn't eat! = Wild chestnut horses maybe? I don't know this one
Bright white what a vision = Anvil horse, or maybe the unicorn?
Bravil and Skingrad will just rip you off so don't even bother = Bay horses
Black as night we would win = Cheydinhal blacks
I give to you freely in the hope of it being of service to you = Prior Maborel's
You may be thinking "roasting in the fire", but we are too fragile for that = Chestnut horses
Earn me if you dare = Shadowmere

We are cheap up in the frozen north and the swampy south
- Bravil and Leyawiin stables sell the v. cheap Paint horses.

Don't look at me, I didn't eat!
The orc at the IC stables that apparently ate all the previous horses.

Bright white what a vision
White horses, available at Anvil

Bravil and Skingrad will just rip you off so don't even bother
Bay horses available in Bravil and Skingrad, but not worth the money they ask for them.

Black as night we would win
Black horses are fastest.

I give to you freely in the hope of it being of service to you
Prior Mabel giving you his Paint horse.

You may be thinking "roasting in the fire", but we are too fragile for that
Chestnut horses, low health, damage easily!

Earn me if you dare
Shadowmere of course!

We can run free, but you won't own me
The wild horses south of IC, you can't "domesticate" them.

We deliver all the time
As codex (almost!) correctly guessed, the Black horses used by the couriers.

Plod, plod
The Legion on their horses, they plod along slow, and really they're also the policeman-plod of the countryside.

You see, it all makes perfect sense, doesn't it??!!

I was really looking for all the Horse Merchants as well, but you all did pretty well in the end.

(jeff gets docked 10 points for being too slow on the "Submit" butt twice in a row!!)

In Senryu form:

Have fallen like leaves

I suppose a knowledge of kigo would help here (hint, hint)

I've got one.

With a hollow pith I compose a quiet ring
My properties not replicated in any fellow living thing
Between rocks and inside nooks, I'm ringing
The adventurer's ultimate blessing.

It's a fairly easy one.
