Battle For The East: Argonian

Post by VirtualWeasel »

Hello everyone.

This is our (Hopefully not temporary) fix to the recent confusion with the Battle For The East Roleplay. As all of the current Argonian RPers know, we have had a bit of confusion and strife when it came to RPing war plans "secretly", as the PM system didn't seem to work so well.
So, after a long discussion, Duruza and I have decided this thread should be created so that we can have Argonian members have a place to post war plans, current positions, etc. without anyone on the opposing side seeing it.

Now, as pointed out by Matt, we realize that the opposing side will probably go snooping in this thread. May I point out that we DO NOT WANT ANY NON-ARGONIAN ROLEPLAYERS TO EVEN GLANCE AT THIS THREAD! If you are indeed looking around in this thread, and are not an Argonian-aligned roleplayer, and use any information you see to somehow have your character kill a general or something, either me or Duruza will PM you with a warning. If you do it again, you'll be PMed with a warning and a very serious threat. If you do it a third time, you get banned from the RP.
Simple as that. That is also the same with any Argonian players, too.

So, all formal attempts at striking fear into anyone out of the way, here's how this will work.
I will give the Argonian semi-DMs power to move armies to positions and whatnot, but when there is a massive battle going on between two opposing forces, I will post results in both threads, but I will allow roleplayers to to say that they killed a single soldier or something.
However, a battle between military generals and such is a DM's job. DO NOT God RP.

Now, just to get everyone familiarized, here are the rules set by Duruza:
Spoiler:
The Rules:
1. Stick to the topic
We're here to delve into the world of 4th Era Morrowind and Black Marsh so stick to pre-prescribed lore in official lore and as decided in the OP. Keep posts in the game world and don't go silly and/or off-topic.

2. No God RPing/Listen to DMs
This is a fundamental RP rule of thumb, don't try and take over the RP and/or other characters (including NPCs), unless of course your a DM. You can control your own actions, but not necessarily the outcome. (i.e. 'Duruza drew his sword and lunged at Setharan' not 'Duruza drew his sword and lunged at Setharan cleaving the filthy lizard in two').

3. Be realistic
Your character cannot be a superheor/god. You are a mortal like everyone else and you are not perfect in every way. You may be skilled in certain areas, but you have to acknowledge that in other areas, you are weak. We're all on the same foot (except perhaps our Argonian enemies - it would be interesting and fun to let them have a bit of an advantage :P) so keep it real.

4. Thoughtful Entries
I dream of an RP which reads like a book. This can be achieved if we all wait our turns, put extra time/effort into our posts, and consider carefully what others have written. If you have something you desperately have to say, but it takes a while to write, I will allow post reservations within reason, but I will retain the right to withdraw that privilege. It's just common sense though and I trust everyone here to do the right thing.. I'll also expect DMs to help write in nice little endings and beginnings to sessions and to help keep the RP flowing like a story.

5. Joining in/leaving
Feel free to join in whenever you want. Just make sure you do so in a manner that flows with the story. PM me if I'm around if you want me to bring you in or simply use a short intro like "Duruza had stood silently for some time, but as he observed the conversation that took place, he could no longer hold his tongue."

6. A note on spoiler tags
Keep all Out of Character posting to spoiler tags please. I'll post announcements in spoiler tags, so be sure to read them. If your setting the scene, just post in default rather than your colour, no need for spoiler tags (i.e. Thunder boomed across the night sky as Duruza hurried through the harsh rain towards the tiny speak of light on the horizon, that was Balmora).

7. Follow the Official UESP Forum Rules
This is a basic one, but make sure you know them and follow them

8. As always: Have FUN
You know me, I couldn't not put that in
Also, the current Argonians-aligned people:

Argonian Aligned:
Setharan the Elf Killer (Roadcone), Dreekius (AKB), Hunting Tail (Savilius), Salvidin (I_am_one), Shows-His-Teeth (Leyyuce), Ra'jir (Jake-uh)

DMs:
Duruza is primary DM (Oceania - GMT+10), VirtualWeasel (America - GMT -7) is secondary and mars (Europe) is tertiary.

Also, if you're confused, read this:

I honestly don't trust anyone to not look here (But that's just me), but it's the best we have, so we can all see each others' idea.

As I said, people will look. But if they implement it into the RP, they will be punished.

I'm doing a loose dictation of events, so I will be looking, but I'm a good boy  and likely my character will die at one of the Argonian RPers hands, not set in stone though.
Also I may be in contact with you guys since I'm slated to infiltrate the An-Xileel to some degree in the future.

Somewhere along the route from the Velothi Mts. to Almalexia-

Shows-His-Teeth glanced shortly toward Ra-Jir, contemplating his depressed words, afterward returning his gaze to the barren land upon which the group traveled.

"You seem to have proclaimed yourself leader, among you and your comrades," Shows-His-Teeth reminded Ra'Jir, "With your commander having perished, your men are desperate for leadership. Continue to act in such a confident manner, and they will continue to respect and follow you."

Ra'Jir stared at Shows-his teeth admirably.
"Your words are wise, and I may be the leader to them, but you Shows-His-Teeth. I want you to be my leader." Ra'Jir said these words with confidence, stopping to bow and show his respect.
"I have heard great things about you from other soldiers. I would be honered if you took me in as one of your followers."

Spoiler:
I've been reading the RP East thing (name escapes me and I'm lazy), and I was wondering, since the Argonian team is a bit underdeveloped at the moment, could I create a character and have him appear as a soldier in the battle? I wouldn't play a plotline altering role really, just help develop the battle and allow more insight into the Argonian side of it.

Spoiler:
More characters for the RP on this side are great because they will die throughout the RP, as it is Dunmer centric. Not so Great, you may join, but just remember that this Argonian side is a supplement of a Dunmer RP, that actually wasn't going to happen. I'm happy to have this going, as the Argoina side has been very active, but it's still secondary to the Dunmer side, so I'm not encouraging it to grow too much. I'd consider joining the Dunmer side if I were you, as there is no need to balance things, as it isn't a true conflict RP per se.

That being said, I'm haapy to DM here as a Dunmer enemy, so this thread could go in an entirely different direction from the main one, just so long as you guys are still happy and able to portray enemy bosses from time to time, and help me write up ststus reports based on what happens here.

Potentaillly this could work into a very different RP, and the Argonians could even win on this thread, but that can only happen if there are no issues regarding the other thread.

I'll also ask that you try and either spoiler tag or move your posts in the other thread, as I think they're worth keeping here, but I never wanted them on the Dunmer thread, because the Dunmer players only recieve information through the DMs (mainly me) and I have my own methods of doing this.

PM me if you have any questions.

Okay, I don't really know the character format, but since I'm a late starter, and not an important character, I won't be too detailed.

Name: Fan Groshner (Fahn Groh-sh-nair)
Race: Argonian
Age: 29
Physical Description: A descendant of the Nagas tribe, Groshner is a tall Argonian, even among others of the Nagas, with a body that seems designed for battle. His left ring finger was lost in an early encounter with slaughterfish, and gave him a slight fear of water, despite his race.

Brief Bio: When asked as a child what he thought was the best part of being a soldier, he replied "glass weapons". Other argonian children laughed at him, and for some reason, never seemed to let this experience go. His father abandoned the family when he was 9, and he had to take care of his mother and little sister, who he never names. Constantly chided, Groshner became an aggressive teenager. When he became of age and came to the Hist tree, he took a large lick, but in secret, he spit most of it out, and largely faked his following hallucinations. When others stopped growing, Groshner didn't, he became nearly 9 feet tall and one day told his sister he was going away to become a soldier. She had always seen him pretending to fight trees and small plants, and it was true he had won almost every fight he had been in, but, she never expected him to actually become a fighter. "What are you going to do? You have nothing, what will you fight with?" Groshner opened a chest she hadn't known he possessed, out of it, he produced a beautiful glass hook sword reinforced with steel trim. It gave off a faint purple glow.
"Glass weapons" he said, and he left for good.

Well, that wasn't such a brief bio, and I made it all up on the spot so forgive me if it's a bit corny.
The point is, Groshner spent the next several years training with his glass weapon, and it was discovered that the purple glow was caused by an enchantment that made the weapon incredibly easy to reconstruct should any damage be done to it. Groshner learned of the Argonian cause in these events from a childhood friend, who also told him his sister was missing as a result. Groshner joined up with the others, and came forward now.

"You are the one the call Shows-His-Teeth? And who is this? Who's command will I be placed under?" Groshner was glancing back and forth, at the men below him.

Sorry if I am awkward at first, I don't "fully" understand the situation.

Ra'Jir looked back at one of his foot soldiers, surprised to what he just heard.
"Did you take a knock to the head, fellow Naga? You are my follower, we were in the same battalion, but our commander died in battle, not too long ago. I am your new leader, and I promise I won't let you down." He wagged his tail a few times and nodded at his fellow brother-at-arms after speaking.

"Haha, as a matter of fact I have taken a blow to the head." Glass-Glower pointed to a scar beside his right ear, just missing the gills.

"Sometimes, it is hard to be understanding what it is you shorter brothers say from up here!"

Glass-Glower glanced at another comrade, who was giving him the look of "everyone is a shorter brother to you."

He now felt like he had made an ass of himself, and decided to have a seat instead of being social any further.

"What do they call you, brother?"

"'They' being myself, call me Glass-Glower." GG (as I will call him in non dialogue), was not sure if he enjoyed this conversation.
While he had no problems with either of the men he was speaking to, the social experience was strange, as if they were all walking to their own demise and just wouldn't mention it.

"Pardon me if I depress you, I'm a bit of a pessimist. Might I inquire as to where you received your weaponry?"

GG gestured toward Ra'jirs maces, but from his tone of voice, was obviously expressing interest only to receive interest in return.

"I once encountered two orc brothers in my past, when they saw my face they spat at me, and called me things I wish to not repeat."
He looked out at a giant mushroom in the distance, his voice was getting rather serious.
"I killed both of them, using a stone I found not to far away. They each had an ebony mace on them. I took the weapons with pride. And learned how to use them. Their thoughts of us saxhleel being inferior lead me to become a murderer, and a thief. Yet it also lead me here. I try not to look back, for it is not the argonian way. I feel what I done previously wasn't nessecary, but I can't take it back." He slightly stumbled over a small hole in the ground, but collected his footing shortly afterwards.

Spoiler:
If you want, we could go through the Battle for Almalexia, just before the breach in the walls. I could DM the Dunmer force and you could partake in the attack so we can develop a disaster report and have a bit of fun too. Either PM me or begin the attack (maybe a little pep talk to the troops) and we'll begin . If your characters aren't in location, it could be a shared recolection, or we could just let the jump in time slide for a bit. Obviously if your character isn't par of the battle, make a new one and get involved, just make sure that they're not all uber strong bosses, there should only really be one or two for the RP in this city.

This is my new character.
Spoiler:
User: Roadcone
Character:J'azzir
Allegiance: The Argonian Hordes
Race: Khajiit, Suthay-Raht
Gender: Male
Class: Second in command at Almalexia, Setharan's oldest Friend
Class Information: J'azzir, unlike setheran does not use brute force to overcome his enemies, instead he uses a deadly concoction of cunning short blade attacks and magic based combat. He uses illusion and alteration to confuse and discombobulate his enemies before going for the kill with a clean knife stroke or a well aimed fire spell.

Class Build:
Favoured Attributes: Intelligence and Agility
Major Skills: Short blade, illusion, Destruction, Alteration, Mysticism
Minor Skills: Alchemy, Enchanting, Sneak, Mercantile, Medium Armour

Personality/Characteristics: J'azzir is reclusive and often quiet, especially around Setharan who has always been the more confident and Outgoing of the two. However this has not affected his ability as a tactician and a general and he has been responsible for countless victories, both in single combat and in larger scale military terms.

Background:At a young age J'azzir was taken from his family by Dunmer slavers and forced to work on a plantation. it was here that he met Setheran and they created a bond that would last a lifetime. It was clear before long that the physical prowess the pair possesed was wasted in the fields and they were sent to fight in the "gladitorium," Setheran's vast brute strength, j'azzir's speed and cunning and their combined knowledge of the aracane made them the greatest team the arena had ever seen, however it wasn't long before a group of argonian skirmishers discovered the Gladitorium and released j'azzir and his friend. they were drafted and fought for the skirmishers for a while but it wasn't long before setheran decided he needed more, that he could make a bigger difference. and where Setheran went, J'azzir followed. they joined the An-xileel during the oblvion crisis and became famous for defeating countless deadra and closing many gates. It was inevitable that they would join the resistance and not long before they were in positions of command. Setheran and J'azzir are brothers in all senses but blood.

Birthsign: The Thief
This is my original character
Spoiler:
User: Roadcone.
Character: Setharan the Elf Killer. The Monster of the South.
Allegiance: Supreme commander of the Argonian Hordes.
Race: Argonian
Class: Warrior-Sorcerer.
Class Information: Intelligence and knowledge of battle tactics make him both a versatile warrior and excellent tactician. In combat he uses a mixture of brutal Axe strokes and destruction magic. Using knowledge of magic and troop tactics he has shown himself to be the greatest commander the army of black marsh has ever seen.

Class Build: Favorite Attributes: Strength, Intelligence.
Major skills: Axe, Medium Armour, Destruction, Alteration, Athletics.
Minor skills: Short blade, Acrobatics, Mysticism, Unarmored, Block.

Personality/Characteristics: Standing at nearly seven feet, His size and strength made it easy for him to go toe-to-toe with the biggest Nords and Orcs when he fought in the Dres Arena. He Is Known to have a deep hatred for anything elven and is never seen without his legendary Battle-Axe "Grond" and at least 4 Dunmer severed-heads strung over his shoulder.

Background: Little is know of his Background, however it is known that at some point he was a gladiator slave in the Hands of the Dres, with his loyal best friend J'azzir the khajiit. It is said that when he was freed by Argonian skirmishes, many years ago, that he killed over 40 Dunmer prisoners, that the Argonians had taken, with his bare hands. He rose through the ranks as a Skirmisher, out competing his fellow officers by inordinate amounts, During the Oblivion crisis he and J'azzir joined the An-Xileel and became two of the most proficient members of their races at closing oblivion gates. It was a foregone conclusion that he would rise to commander and chief in nearly no time at all and pull the An-Xileel into the leadership of the country. He is responsible for uniting the clans of black marsh into one army.

Birthsign: The Steed
