Ashriel coughed up blood but managed to stand back up. "You..." He coughed again. "Hit like my grandmother. And she's dead."

Raul looked around, some of the others looked concerned to.
It made him feel more comfortable knowing this.

"What is this?" Ashriel continued. "If you're going to kill us, do it now! You already have a body pile," Ashriel coughed up some more blood then spit it at the Shard's feet. "It'd be easier for all of us if you just did it now."

"I agree with him, what's the point of sending us off to kill us? You would just be wasting time."
Raul said, while looking at the floor, still stitting down.

Gladro looked at Ashriel and knew who had been killed. He felt sorry for him for he knew how hard it is to lose a father. He felt like he could punch Ashriel for giving them ideas. However he knew Ashriel and Raul were right it would be better to die here than suffer a worse fate in one of the camps.

Spoiler:
"I have been warned that my character can be killed in this roleplay. I will not be p*ssed at Mario (Duh) if my character is killed, no matter how or when they are killed." :P

Sorry for being late! Dentist appointment this morning.
Laeriel was on her feet about half a second after she heard the bang on her door. Her angular eyes that were moments ago closed peacefully and without care were now wide open, filled with the wary fear for her life that had now become routine.

In just a few seconds, she had dressed completely, her old and dirty furs slung over her pale skin. Clearing her throat, the Ice Elf smoothed her hair back with one hand and shook her head to erase the strange dreams that had accosted her fitful sleep last night. She really had always had bad dreams ever since seperating from her siblings, since she never knew whether they had managed to cope in the hellish society.

All this took place in less than ten seconds. Lae strode over to the door and gingerly pulled it open, her previously wistful expression quickly turning into a flat, cautious one. She spoke in her usual breathy tone, trying to keep her words as respectful as possible.

"What may I do for you?" Looking at the soldier who had knocked straight in the eyes with her own clear blue hues, she projected a confidence that merely came from her I-have-nothing-left-to-lose sort of demeanor.

Aarys trembled slightly. Is this how it ends, dammit? She wondered dully. She looked down the barrel of the gun pressed to her forehead, and thought a silent prayer. Oh, god help us...

The Shard frowned at Laeriel. "Are you Laeriel Caethernani?" he asked somewhat aggressively.

- - -

One of the Shards raised his rifle and pointed it at Ashriel's head. But luckily for Ashriel, another Shard pushed the gun to the side just as he fired. The bullet hit the wall just above Ashriel's head.

One of the other soldiers drew his baton and whacked Raul across the jaw. It perfectly knocked four teeth from Raul's mouth and caused a decent amount of blood to flow. "All of you stay quiet!" he shouted.

And drew his hand up towards his mouth.
To feel the blood dripping from it.

Gladro was glad that Ashriel was spared, he had been by annoyed him a few times in the past but wouldn't want him dead. Gladro opened his mouth to ask Raul if he was okay but closed it before speaking, not wanting to lose any of his teeth.

"That would be me," the Frost elf replied as respectfully as possible, leaning her weight to one side, her petite form angled in the doorway. She looked expectantly at the Shard, waiting to see what his next move might be.

Respecting the Shard's wishes, Ashriel did not talk, however, when the Shard who issued the command turned his back Ashriel started dancing, not caring if other Shards saw him.

The second Shard rushed through the doorway and pinned Laeriel against the wall. After thoroughly searching the Frost Elf for weapons or tools, the soldier said, "She's clean."

The two Shards then threw Laeriel into the hallway and searched her room for suspicious items. A few moments later, they emerged from the room and reported no weapons found.

After this, each of the sixteen Shards forcefully pulled the eight mortals to their feet and pressed them into a single file line. Two more soldiers then entered the hallway. Behind them came a large Shard officer. The officer seemed to have once been a Moon Elf. He wore a peaked cap and several badges on his overcoat. This was Major Lindrogath Xivilaxi - a well-feared Shard officer who was famous for his oustanding magical and physical strength, as well as his great intelligence.

"Greetings, men and women of Empire City." Xivilaxi said to the eight mortals in his deep and snake-like voice. "You are probably wondering why you have been brought into this hallway. I would be more than happy to inform you of what is happening."

He took a deep breath.

"You are each being relocated to a covert settlement outside of Empire City." he stated. "You will cooperate, or else you will be shot, tortured, or worse. I do hope I've made myself clear enough. Does anyone have any questions?"

Aarys glared at the Shard, quiet defiance emanating from her cold, brown eyes. "No." She spat the word through gritted teeth. "Sir."

"No, Sir." Gladro replied. He wanted to know why this was happening but didn't dare ask. He also felt great loss over his father's lighter, it was all he had of left him and now would have to let the past go.

Laeriel shook her head gently. She looked around at the others with a rather curious raise of eyebrows. The affair, so far, hadn't been exactly pleasant, but she hadn't had half of the rough time it looked like they had been through. They must've resisted, she wondered to herself mildly, and tilted her head in a sympathetic manner. Refocusing her attention on Xivilaxi, the elf watched him sharply. A "covert settlement" didn't sound bad, compared to the current situation. In fact, it sounded relatively pleasant. Was this another trick of the ICA to demoralize them further?

Valentin chose not to reply. It seemed like anything got you beaten in this harsh world. He didn't feel like loosing an eye, tooth, or other part of his body just to be a smart ass. He simply looked ahead with a serious expression on his face, waiting for what was to come next.

Xivilaxi completely ignored Ashriel's question and did not wait for the replies of the other mortals. "No questions?" he said in a disgustingly cheerful manner. "Wondrous!"

The Major pointed to the door leading to the staircase. "Tie them up and take them away." he ordered the soldiers.

The soldiers then tied the hands of each of the eight mortals behind their backs with thin and unbreakable wires. They purposely tied the wires very tight in order to inflict pain.

The Shards then forced the mortals down the stairs and out of the apartment building. An armored car and three jeeps were parked just outside in the street. The soldiers forced the eight mortals into the armored car and slammed the doors shut behind them. Two of them then got into the driver and passenger seat while the other fourteen got into the three jeeps. Major Xivilaxi and his two bodyguards headed in the opposite direction. The convoy began moving forward through the streets.
Spoiler:
The section of the armored car you guys are in is sealed off from the driver and passenger's seats. There are two benches in the car for you to sit on. You are now free to talk to one another for a bit.
