Valentin growled as he sat up and leaned against the wall. He noticed Raul and Aarys in the hallway as well. "So," he said, figuring it was just another search. "How are you two doing today?"

Suddenly, gunshots rang throughout the hallway. Valentin jumped. He had not expected that at all. "What the hell was that!?" he said out loud.
"Uhh...Shut up, Beavis!"

"Another senseless death, well, that's what i'm assuming it is. "
He said while staring at the wall.
"Well just as always, i'm [&@%!]."
He replied calmly.

Spoiler:
You know i'm starting to think that the ICA may be evil.
Ashriel was stunned. His life with his father flashed through his eyes - His father teaching him magic to aid his stealth combat style, his father taking him to church to pray, his father giving him his leather boots for his 10th birthday, a valued gift now lost. Barvel and Schianna and Ashriel traveling across Benevia to Empire City. Barvel killing those two Shards in less than a minute after they struck down Schianna. All those memories, now lost.

Ashriel hadn't cried or gotten terribly upset since the raid on his Frost Elf city up north, especially after his mother died. But Barvel dying was so unexpected, Ashriel was lost for words... "Barvel, the revolutionist." If only.

Ashriel tried to remember the last thing he said to his father. "Ugh. Fine." Okay, rewinding. "Like hell I am, dad. I'm right behind you." Well, at least he didn't have a fight with his dad in his final moments. That was good.

Surprisingly, the only thought that came to Ashriel's mind afterwards was would he ever know his father's true plans with Sally Pennyway and Levine Xedare. He'd need to contact them, soon.

Ashriel realized he'd been silent for at least a few minutes. He finally looked at the Shard, and without thinking, spit in its face.

"Would you by any chance happen to be Peter Barnes?" one of the Shards asked Peter.

- - -

One of the soldiers exited Raul's room and drew a baton from his waist. He hit both Raul and Valentin once in the face. "Shut up." he said to them. The other soldiers emerged from Raul, Valentin, and Aarys's rooms. All of them reported no weapons found.

- - -

The Shard wiped his face with a chuckle. He then threw Ashriel to the floor and kicked him into the hallway with the others. The two soldiers then began searching through the room for weapons.

Ashriel got up fast and raised his fists threateningly towards the Shards. He then wailed loudly. "They got Barvel! But I know! Stay strong!"

He may have sounded like a madman to the others, but Ashriel knew what he was doing. He just hoped Sally or Levine heard him.

One of the Shards dashed out of Ashriel's room and swiftly knocked the Elf to the ground. He grabbed Ashriel's shirt. "Listen, boy," he hissed. "If you speak again, you'll end up looking worse than your daddy over there." The soldier pointed to the other Shard who was emptying another magazine into Barvel's face.

Ashriel's face turned green as he saw his father getting shot, and felt himself getting sick. Hey, why waste a perfect moment? He thought, and forced himself to look at his father again. Ashriel then threw up on the Shard, luckily not getting anything on himself.

"Yes, I'm Peter," he responded, his hand remaining on the doorknob as if he was poised to close the door.

Raul was very surprised, and somewhat inspired at Ashriel's courage.
His eyes widened with excitement and terror of what could happen next.

Gladro grabed his book and lighter and dashed to the window. He threw them out without question not wanting to get caught. "Yes, I am opening it now." Gladro replied loudly. He slowly opened the door and steped out of the room praying that he wouldn't get a beating.

The Shard frowned at Ashriel and pulled his baton from his waist. He then proceeded to mercilessly beat Ashriel to the floor.

A few moments later, the first soldier exited Ashriel's room. "No weapons found." he said. "The room's clean."

The other Shard stopped hitting Ashriel and sheathed his baton.

- - -

The first soldier kicked Peter's door open. The second rushed inside and forced Peter against the wall, searching him high and low for weapons or tools. They searched every possible area, even his mouth. "He's clean." the Shard finally said.

The two soldiers then threw Peter into the hallway and began searching his room.

- - -

The first Shard forcefully pushed Hremai's door open and slapped her hard across the face. "SHOW RESPECT!" he shouted at her. "Are you Hremai Xtershqond-Xtraktxdaun?"

- - -

"Are you Lithnilillin Eruveth?" one of the soldiers asked Lithnilillin.

- - -

"And just where do you think you're going?" one of the soldiers said to Aarys with a laugh. He knocked her to the floor and pulled her by the ankles back to her orginal spot. "STAY PUT!" he ordered with his gun pointed at her forehead.

- - -

"Are you Gladro Telind?" the first Shard asked Gladro.

The first Shard kicked Lithnilillin's door open. The second rushed inside and forced Lithnilillin against the wall, searching him high and low for weapons or tools. They searched every place, including his mouth. "He's clean." the soldier finally said.

"To the hallway." replied the other Shard.

The two Shards then threw Lithnilillin into the hallway and began searching his room.

Lithnilillin sighed and leaned against the wall. The shards were always unsettling to see. To think that they had been humans and elves once...it made him sad.

The second Shard rushed into Hremai's room and forced her against the wall. He violently searched her for weapons or tools. He even searched her mouth. "She's clean." he finally said.
