You know i'm starting to think that the ICA may be evil. All I can think of now is the combine suppression field from Half life 2.

So (correct me if I'm wrong) that you have to fall alseep at exactly 11 pm and wake up at exactly 4 am unless you'll get executed. How quaint.

Also, how long has it been since the demons took over? Cause if they have restricted sexual activity, it wouldn't take that long before they'd notice a break of that law.
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

That's exactly right. You don't have to fall asleep exactly at 11, but you have to be inside. However, you do have to wake up at exactly 4 AM. An alarm will sound throughout the city when it is time to wake up.
JVElEven wrote:Also, how long has it been since the demons took over? Cause if they have restricted sexual activity, it wouldn't take that long before they'd notice a break of that law.
I'll answer you're question with this cool little timeline. The laws have only existed for 15 years, so the limitation on sex among mortals has only existed for a short period of time. You won't see too many children inside Empire City that are under the age of 15. However, rules are meant to be broken. Some infants and small children are kept hidden by their parents. But they better hope that the ICA doesn't find them...

Timeline

? - 1705: The Human-Elf Wars - a massive series of incredibly violent wars between the Humans and Elves.

1705: The Kingdom of Benevia is formed - the Elves and Humans finally unite under one banner. A period of great prosperity begins.

1800: The Industrial Revolution begins in Andia - the Kingdom of Benevia undergoes an industrial revolution. Technology advances at a rapid pace.

1840: The Spector opens - the Spector, a portal connecting Andia to the Gloom, is opened. Three demonic beings (Scelestus, Tormen, and Lucrenda) who call themselves the “Immortal Commission” fall to the earth. Their collision with the ground causes a gigantic storm of ash to spread across the globe. ¼ of the mortal population is eliminated.

1841: The Demon War - The Immortal Commission brings gigantic legions of demons from the Gloom through the Spector and attacks the Kingdom of Benevia, sparking the Demon War.

1845: The Kingdom of Benevia surrenders (Demon War ends) - after several years of desperate fighting, the Kingdom finally surrenders to Immortal Commission forces. Every major city on Andia except Empire City is destroyed. The Immortal Commission’s demon armies march victoriously into Empire City. The Kingdom of Benevia’s royal family is publicly executed.

1846: The Kingdom of Benevia’s government is eradicated - Benevia’s government is wholly removed. Most iconic mortal politicians are executed over the course of the year.

1847: The Shards are created - the Immortal Commission herds millions of mortal men and women together at a remote location. Using their twisted magic, the Immortal Commission removes the souls of these mortals and replaces them with the souls of demons. These new possessed beings become known as “Shards”. All male Shards are then gathered together, trained, and armed. They become the Immortal Commission Army (ICA). The ICA serves as the primary military force of the Immortal Commission and follows them without question.

1848 - 1940 (PRESENT DAY): The Immortal Commission builds concentration camps for the extermination of mortals - millions of mortal men, women, and children are transported by train to numerous concentration camps set up across Andia to be slaughtered, tortured, or put into slavery.

1925: A set of unreasonably strict laws are placed upon the people - a list of hellish laws (shown above) are placed on the people. One of the laws restricts any sexual activity among mortals, making reproduction itself illegal. The population of mortals rapidly decreases.

1940 (PRESENT DAY): Less than 3,000,000 mortals remain alive. Rumors are spreading that a rebellion is being planned. The Immortal Commission continues sending more and more mortals to concentration camps to be killed or exploited every day.

Yeah, the Commission doesn't really like mortals.

BAM. Human character.

Name (first & last, please): Valentin Fairfax

Gender (male or female, please): Male

Race (either Human, Moon Elf, Frost Elf, Drow, Woodland Elf, or Sun Elf; see above for information on each of the different races): Human

Height (use the metric system, please. If you don’t know how to use the metric system, find a converter online. It’s not hard, people.): 182.9 cm

Weight (again, use the metric system): 68 kg

Physical Appearance (use the information on the different races above for help or guidelines): A young man, Valentin has fair skin that easily tans when he spends time in the sun. Valentin has thick, dark brown hair and dark gray eyes. He has very full facial features and a somewhat well-toned body. He is a very good-looking person (but not “perfect” like the Elven people). Scars line his entire body. He is a common target of ICA abuse due to his kind nature.

Clothing (think of the clothing a Jew would wear in a Nazi concentration camp. That’s the type of clothes your character is currently wearing. There are no rich people in Andia anymore.): A faded, dirty, and tattered black button-down shirt, a dirtied pair of gray pants, and worn boots.

Sexuality (please be mature about this): Heterosexual

Biography (optional): Valentin is the last remaining member of the Fairfax family. The Fairfax family once controlled one of the largest industrial monopolies in Andia. But when the Immortal Commission took over, everything fell apart. The Fairfax family became a main target of the ICA due to their wealth and power over the people. One by one, they were each taken down. Valetnin was a child when his parents were sent from Empire City to a concentration camp. He’s managed to survive into adulthood, but he is always expecting the unexpected. He spends every minute of his free time exercising in order to provide himself with some muscle to protect himself from the ICA. Valentin is extremely kind. He’s the type of person that would never hurt a fly unless he was forced to.

Accepted.

Alright that's a decent amount of characters. I'll give everyone 2 more hours to join. After that time period is over, we'll start.

I'll have plenty of NPC characters.
Also, you can develop relationships (be they hostile, romantic, friendly, or whatever) with NPC's.

NPC's that you create or we create? Even though I suspect the answer, my character will have some NPC's in the beginning that, who knows, may reappear if they ever go into a city...

Jake-uh, your character is accepted.

So we've got at least one character belonging to every race. That's pretty good I suppose. But it's not very balanced. We've got far more Elves than Humans, and far more males than females. But it'll go along fine...I hope.

Spoiler:
We're starting early because I don't feel like waiting.

Each of your characters live in the same apartment building on the third floor. Each of you have your own separate apartment rooms. Each of these rooms contain a mattress (which is rather dirty and uncomfortable) and a heavily damaged toilet (toilet paper is not included). Each room also has its own small window. The rooms are about 10' X 10'.

Remember that you (and each of your family members, if you have any) each are currently wearing enchanted wrist irons that block your ability to use magic and keep you fatigued at all times.

Good luck, my friends.
It is late autumn. Temperatures are lower than ever, yet not a flake of snow has fallen yet this year. The black smoke pouring from the smokestacks of Empire City’s various factories looms over the region as a reminder to the people of the Immortal Commission’s satanic occupation. Not a single mortal walks the streets. It is quiet. Dead. The sound of marching boots emits from several battalions of Shards patrolling the streets.

It is 4:00 AM. The sky is still dark. The sun is far from rising. Yet the unreasonably loud alarm sounds throughout the entire city. The alarm is followed by the automated voice of a woman.

“Good morning, Empire City. It is time to awaken. Civilians are ordered to dress themselves immediately and stay inside their chambers until checked upon by Immortal Commission Army personnel. Complete silence is mandatory. Punishment will be enacted upon individuals who choose not to follow these instructions precisely. Thank you.”
Spoiler:
You are free to do as you wish. But it is heavily recommended that you follow the instructions the automated voice gave you. Also not that doing dumb things will get you killed. In fact, please include the words "I have been warned that my character can be killed in this roleplay. I will not be p*ssed at Mario (Duh) if my character is killed, no matter how or when they are killed." in a spoiler tag in your next post. Have fun! :D

Aarys Breá sighed, and opened her eyes. The sagging, water-stained ceiling of the apartment greeted her. "Good morning, indeed...' She muttered bitterly, and rose from the bed, which creaked in protest. She rolled her shoulders, which responded with a crack. She grimly pulled on her clothes, and stood looking out the window. What is it now? Are they taking us to the camps? she wondered uneasily. The shards were usually quieter about it.

Spoiler:
Buzz. Too late. Good day. :P

"I have been warned that my character can be killed in this roleplay. I will not be p*ssed at Mario (Duh) if my character is killed, no matter how or when they are killed."
And... yes.

The Shard in the street tripped, a very simple wire trap set up by Ashriel. The Shard landed on its face and dropped its sword, which clattered to the dirt street.

Ashriel watched from the door of his apartment, silent as a shadow, but slipped back in as the Shard fell, a smile on his face.

These were the kinds of pranks that Ashriel lived for, these were the kind of pranks that he did love. Ashriel was the only person who could pull this off, as he was a master with stealth and guile for his young age.

As silent as a small mouse, Ashriel slipped back up into his apartment floor, completely unseen, and entered his room.

What he saw surprised him.

Three people were sitting around the center of the room, three people he recognized.

For one, there was Barvel, his father. Then, there was an older human woman. She was heavyset and had afro-like white hair. Her name was Sally. Then he saw Levine, a middle aged drow man, rather small, completely bald, completely blind. He's used to it, however, and can get around on his own, with a walking stick.

Sally spun around and saw Ash, then let out a small gasp.

"Ashriel. I thought you were still asleep." Barvel said worriedly.

"Ashriel is here? Come Sally, let us leave." Levine said, and he and Sally stood up and left the apartment for their own rooms.

Barvel and Ashriel stood there, staring each other down for a little while, until Barvel finally said "What were you doing out, young man? It is illegal."

"Don't turn this on me, I always do this." Ashriel said. "What the hell were Sally and Levine doing here?"

Barvel sighed. "Get ready for the day. You never should have seen that, and you never should have been involved. Ms. Pennyway and Mr. Xedare weren't here. Do you understand?"

"For now, Dad, for now." Ashriel warned, and got prepared for the day.
