It does concern sexuality so I think it's not offtopic. This thread isn't just for stating like the previous one. Discussion's allowed.
That was a good post by the way, dtmwerks. I don't know if it'll be that simple but I see your point.

Straight, but have quite a few gay friend's.

Just as an observation, I've noticed that my gay friend's aren't as "sex orientated" as most straight people I know.
By this I mean, say if we go to a club, most of my straight friend's are there for one thing. Whereas my gay friend's seem to just wanna have a good time.
Good mixture of both makes for some interesting night's out.

Honestly?
I have been straight my entire life, but I have also always found, um, men attractive I guess.
Family would hate me if I ever ended up being gay, and I have actually thought about dating the same sex numerous times before though.
I joked about it once, and my mom thought I was being serious, her eyes started to water, within the blink of an eye, and she showed this side of her I don't think I have ever seen before.
In a bad way..
So yeah, I have never told anyone this before, kind of odd i'm telling some random folk on a forum.
Oh well, hopefully you all don't know me personally. :P
Regards.

There're alot of gay guys who are [almost purely] "sex-oriented"- I think what your intents are depend alot on where you're planning to go (If you're planning) and who you're going with. (If anyone :P)
Obviously though, it's a case of person-to-person, same as in the hetero scene.

Moeboid pretty much hit the PRIDE nail on the head: There're those who take it as an attempt to stand out, segregate and boast, but for alot of people in places with less developed LGBT rights it's an attempt to do exactly the opposite.

Gays are not a different species. They are very sexually oriented. Your friend was probably not in the mood for getting you know what.

Or he may not be looking for sex all the time :P Maybe he only wants to have sex with someone he loves. Every person is different. Sexuality has nothing to do with sex drive.

Sadly gay people don't seem to be part of the same species for a lot of people. For example, I have two neighbours across my street who are both men in a partnership with each other. I just leave it at that, don't stick my nose into their business the same way as I would with a straight couple, and don't treat them any differently to anyone else (they're actually very nice men). My family seems to have a different view, gossiping about anyone that visits their house, wondering where they go on a Saturday night. My mom even calls them the gay men, for goodness' sake. I just don't see any important difference between opposite-sex and same-sex relationships, and it annoys me that people get judged because of it, regardless of whether the judge is trying to cause harm or not.

As I said earlier I don't like it when people of certain groups treat themselves as the golden cows.

If you are gay(black, white, brown, red, feminist, etc) so what? I don't agree with your choice, but I am no going to persecute you over it, it's your life. So get out of my face with your "pride".

That's my point of view.

I'm straight. No question there, but alas, like most others I accept people who are of different sexualities. The only kind of people I don't accept is sandpeople. They are annoying - stealing your droids...

Why do you say Catholics, and not Christians? Most other Christian churches have the same views on gays.

Anyway, I'm straight and I am fine with homosexuals.

Does this not exist in all of the Abrahamic religions? Since they all developed from the same thoughts, I mean.

I'll be glad when the day comes that I can walk down the street and not have someone wave their sexuality in my face like a public flasher; I'm understanding so long as you aren't cramming your ideology down the throats of the already converted

The Islamists hate homosexuals more than any Christians (and I think you'll find it's not just Catholics). And they are much more strict too, look how they treat women for god's sake.

I don't know that much about Islam, but I'm guessing that if they do "hate" homosexuals, they hate them just as much as Christians do: the church doesn't approve it. People may judge homosexuals more and have stricter views on gender roles, but that's just their culture. As far as religion goes, views on homosexuality are the same.

Hate is a strong word, perhaps dislike is better, although Islam is in some cases, a very extreme religion.

The most accepting are probably Buddhists and some Jews, but that is a bit of a digression.

What, you mean by accepting them equally to men? Gosh, that's so strict. Islam is one of the most (if not the most) misinterpreted and misunderstood religions in the world. While there's no doubt that the Qu'ran disapproves of homosexuality in the same way that the Bible does, any further action taken from it is down to an individual's opinion.

And one of the points of religion is to sway an individual's opinion to a single form of thought.

All religions and anti-religions have had fanatics that have brought the sword as a form of conversion.

Off topic, but I feel it must be said:
OblivionDuruza wrote:...although Islam is in some cases, a very extreme religion..
As is Catholicism, Judaism, and so on. For instance, extreme Catholics kill doctors who carry out actions they dislike (abortion). Don't fall pray to the misconception that only Muslims have extreme tendencies.

On topic: The three Abrahamic traditions do essentially share the same views on homosexuality, coming from the same backgrounds, although Islam is more so related to Judaism. (This is only because the Prophet, PBUH, was forced to flee to a city that was fundamentally Jewish and so drew on Jewish traditions.) However, back then they wanted to build on the idea of a strong family, and a family was only created through natural reproduction between a man and a woman, and that is that. Interestingly, the strongest relationships in the holy books are not between a man and his wife but between a man and his male friend(s).

No, the point of religion is to give people something to believe and have faith in.
