Andia: The Revolution

Post by Duh »

So...this is the roleplay I promised to you in the idea thread. :D

- - -

Long ago, during the golden ages of artistic, scientific, technological, and economic innovation, the world of Andia knew peace. Massive cities containing stunning castles, cathedrals, statues, gardens, and canals dotted the golden countryside. Incredible forests, deserts, jungles, lakes, lagoons, and oceans only added to the undeniable beauty of Andia. The Kingdom of Benevia - a superior government composed of a single Human monarch and a council Elves - ruled the entire world. With the Humans and Elves having finally united under a single banner, “prosperity” became the only word worthy of describing the Kingdom. Men and women, Humans and Elves - all received equal rights. The use of magic was widespread. In fact, it was mandatory that children were taught the ways of magic at a young age. People used magic as often as they used their silverware or their chairs. It was part of life! All in all, the Kingdom of Benevia was almost unrealistically perfect.

But on one specific day nearly one hundred years ago, everything shattered.

A portal called the “Spector” connecting the world of Andia to the hellish realm of legend known as the “Gloom” opened in the skies. Three demonic fiends from the darkest depths of the Gloom plummeted into the surface of Andia from the Spector. The people of Andia watched curiously from every corner of the globe as the three beings descended from the skies. But just moments after they hit the ground…a gigantic cloud of black ash spread from their location across the entire planet with speed reaching up to 200 miles per hour. The people of Andia tried to run, but their efforts were in vain. The ashes destroyed their bodies and homes in seconds. At least ¼ of the population was eliminated that day…along with dozens of settlements, miles of forests, and several lakes.

This was only the beginning. These three demonic beings from the Gloom arose from the ashen Andia with a desire to destroy mortal life itself. Their leader was Scelestus - a winged devil who had existed since the beginning of time. The other two were Tormen - a shape-shifting executioner and dweller of the sea, and Lucrenda - a malicious seductress and master of manipulation.

After the ashes cleared, these three immortal demons unleashed a fury unlike any other from the Gloom onto the mortal world. Legions of fiends marched across Andia, killing anything and destroying everything they came across. The Kingdom did its best to resist. They sent dozens of armies to combat the invaders. The Kingdom’s armies were well-trained and armed with only the best firearms, machines, and magical spells. But even the Kingdom’s massive military was hopelessly outnumbered by the forces of Scelestus, Tormen, and Lucrenda.

After several years of desperate fighting, mankind surrendered in order to save itself from complete destruction. They had lost almost every battle. Every family had at least ten loved ones killed by the evil monsters of the Gloom. By the time the war had ended, the only major city that remained was Empire City, the Kingdom’s capital. To the people, the day the invading forces marched into Empire City was the most depressing and humiliating day in mortal history. Scelestus, Tormen, and Lucrenda personally executed the Kingdom’s royal family. The trio then proclaimed themselves the “Immortal Commission” and took complete control over the entire world. The Kingdom of Benevia had collapsed.

After stabilizing their control over Andia, the Immortal Commission used the Spector to send much of their massive demons armies back to the Gloom. They then had millions of mortal men brought into custody. Using their twisted sorcery, the Immortal Commission corrupted the souls of each of these imprisoned men and turned them into Shards - mortals who have had their souls replaced by the souls of demons. The Commission then trained, armed, and uniformed the Shards. This new military force became known as the Immortal Commission Army (ICA).

Using the ICA, the Immortal Commission set up concentration camps across Andia. Thousands of Men and Elves were transported by train to these camps like cattle. It is here that they were forced into backbreaking labor, caged inside gas chambers, or used as slaves. It was genocide.

The ICA occupied Empire City, acting as a military police force. The Shards were cruel and merciless towards the mortal civilians. And every day, more and more mortals were transported from the city to the numerous concentration camps that were scattered across Andia. The Immortal Commission had the Kingdom of Benevia’s government completely eradicated. They subsequently installed their totalitarian rule on the land, successfully forming the “Occupied States of Andia” (OSA).

Today, the Immortal Commission Army still occupies Empire City. The Immortal Commission itself - Scelestus, Tormen, and Lucrenda - remains hidden, controlling the world with their evil magics. The Spector remains open and serves as a highway for demonic beings to travel to and from the Gloom. Less than 3,000,000 Humans and Elves remain living. Sadly, many of these lucky survivors are still trapped inside Empire City, just waiting for the ICA to load them up on the trains heading to the concentration camps.

You are one of the survivors, trapped inside the dirty ruins of a once magnificent Empire City. But not all hope is lost. The people are beginning to whisper a very daring word: REVOLUTION. Could the remaining survivors possibly lead a revolution against the regime of the three most powerful demons known to man? Could they possibly restore the world of Andia to its former glory?

More about Andia

Andia is the name of both the planet and the large “supercontinent” that rests on its surface. The continent of Andia is extremely diverse. It shelters hundreds of species, habitats, and geographical features. Andia goes through a four season cycle - winter, spring, summer, and autumn.

The western and central regions of the continent are covered by thick, beautiful wilderness. These regions are protected by a massive mountainous range that is completely covered with snow throughout the entire year. Past these mountains to the north are a series of large tundra regions. To the east lies gigantic rainforests containing exotic peoples and creatures that one only reads about in books. To the south and the southeast lies a seemingly endless desert that seems to be uninhabitable. But people always find a way to adapt. These deserts are home to a large variety of Men and Elves.

Despite the hellish reign of the Immortal Commission, Andia has managed to retain some of its former beauty outside of Empire City. Small amounts of ash from that terrible day one hundreds years ago still remains on the ground. Yet nature is slowly recovering from the damage that had been dealt to it by the demons of the Gloom.

The only major city remaining today is Empire City. While people once traveled thousands of miles to visit this wondrous place, Empire City is now no more than a dirty, rat infested wasteland of war-torn buildings, streets, and automobiles. The decaying corpses of hundreds of Men and Elves lay everywhere. The Shard soldiers of the ICA march every street, road, and alleyway by the hour. Aside from the presence of the ICA soldiers, the city remains very quiet and motionless…as if time had stopped. The people are hiding from their own terrible fates. Few mortals in Empire City ever dare to venture outside their homes.

When the Immortal Commission took control of Empire City, the ICA ruthlessly destroyed many of the city’s ancient palaces, temples, cathedrals, and other important buildings. They also burned every historical documentations in the Kingdom of Benevia’s possession, thus erasing the historical accomplishments of both Man and Elf alike. Bullet holes that complement the horrors of the city represent what happens to disobedient mortals. It is, quite literally, hell in its purest form.

However, Empire City is not the only settlement still existing in Andia. Hidden towns and villages dot the continent. The peoples of these small hamlets are much safer than the residents of Empire City, but they remain completely isolated from civilization due to their fear of death. It has driven many residents of these communities mad. Minor wars are often waged between each of these villages while the Immortal Commission watches in amusement.

More About the Immortal Commission

The Immortal Commission is made up of three demonic beings from the Gloom:

Scelestus: the leader of the Commission and consequently the most powerful. He has taken on the form of a winged humanoid with the face of a demon.

Tormen: a water demon and second-in-command of the Commission. Tormen is a shape shifter and takes on many different forms. But his favorite form is that of a jester with a skeletal face.

Lucrenda: a seductress and the last member of the Commission. Lucrenda has taken on the form of a stunningly beautiful and virtually perfect woman.

The Immortal Commission governs the Occupied States of Andia and the Immortal Commission Army with absolute power. Little is known about these three outlandish beings. But they came to the world of Andia through a giant portal known as the “Spector” from the demonic realm that mortals call the “Gloom”. In truth, they are each as old as time itself. And they have an undying desire to eliminate mortals from existence.

Races of Andia (mortals)

There are two major classifications of people that reside in the world of Andia.

Humans: Humans are classified as the most “civilized” race. It was they who created the once-magnificent Empire City. Humans are split up into hundreds of ethnicities. Some have dark skin, some have light skin. Some have dark hair, some have light hair. Some have gaunt features, while others have round features. The list goes on and on. Before the formation of the Kingdom of Benevia, Humans were locked in a violent war with the Elves that went on for over 5,000 years. Finally, a peace treaty between the two variants of people was signed, and the Kingdom of Benevia was born. The Kingdom of Benevia was ruled by a Human king who was advised by a council of Elves. (Racism and tension between Men and Elves still exists. But with the occupation of the Immortal Commission, this tension has rapidly decreased.) Humans are famous for their immense physical strength and vast array of combat styles.

Elves

Elves are the second classification of civilized people in Andia. Elves are split up into several different sub-races, but they all have one thing in common - beauty. All Elves are known for their flawlessness. But each of their appearances and abilities differ among each sub-race. The sub-races of Elves are:

Moon Elves: the most common of the Elves. Like all Elves, Moon Elves are known for their angelic beauty. Moon Elves are a bit taller than Humans and possess fair skin with bright hair and eye color. They are famous for their acrobatic talents, intelligence, and vast skills in the schools of magic.

Frost Elves: the Elven residents of the northern tundra, these unique beings are also famous for their beauty. Their skin is very fair - almost as white as snow. While the color of their hair usually varies from person to person, they each possess a pair of deep blue eyes. Frost Elves are famous for their agility, swordsmanship, resistance to cold, and willpower.

Drow: the mysterious sub-race of Elves who resided in cosmic underground tunnels until the formation of the Kingdom of Benevia, the Drow are a strange and untrustworthy people. As with all Elves, they are known for their gorgeousness. But they have eyes that are as white as snow and dark gray skin color that nearly matches the shade of ash. Their hair is usually light in color - sometimes even white. They are a tad bit shorter than the average Human. The Drow are known for their accuracy with guns, stealth, and cunning.

Woodland Elves: the peaceful residents of the vast forests that cover western and central Andia, the Woodland Elves have proved themselves a very important race in the past. They were the first sub-race of Elves to agree to the signing of the peace treaty between Men and Elves. Woodland Elves, of course, possess amazing looks. They are known for their fair skin and dark hair colors. The Woodland Elves are very famous for their accuracy with ranged weapons, ability to climb, and vast skills in the schools of magic.

Sun Elves: the Elven residents of the southern deserts, Sun Elves have managed to survive in the dry and barren wastelands of southern Andia for thousands of years. Like all Elves, they too possess great beauty. They have very tan skin and dark hair and eye color. While the Humans take credit for inventing guns, it was actually the Sun Elves who created the first firearm during the medieval time period. Sun Elves are famous for their swordsmanship, unique magical skills, resistance to heat, and decent accuracy with guns.

Creatures (animals; not all creatures you will find in the RP are listed here, this is just an extremely generic list)

Dogs: a common domesticated animal that can be found throughout the civilized world.

Horses: a common domesticated animal that is sometimes used for travel (they have generally been replaced by automobiles).

Goats: a common domesticated animal that is used for milk and meat.

Cows: a common domesticated animal that is used for milk and meat.

Wolves: common carnivores that travel in packs. They can be found throughout many forest and tundra regions.

Deer: a common animal found throughout the western and central wilderness.

Bears (grizzly, black, desert, and ice): large and very powerful carnivores that reside all across Andia.

Rabbits/Hare: a common rodent that can be found all across Andia.

Jackalope: a unique rabbit-like creature with the antlers of a deer. Jackalope are a symbol of luck, and are usually considered a myth.

Lions: large and very powerful carnivores that travel in packs. They can be found throughout the forest regions of Andia.

Tigers (common, white, and black): large and very powerful carnivores that can be found throughout the eastern rainforests of Andia.

Elephants: large and very powerful herbivores that can be found throughout the eastern rainforests of Andia.

Rhinoceroses: large and very powerful herbivores that can be found throughout the eastern rainforests of Andia.

Gryphons: large, monstrous, half-eagle half-lion creatures. Like jackalopes, gryphons are generally considered to be myths.

Dragons: large, fire breathing, flying lizard-like monsters who are also believed to be myths.

Beast Races (not considered equal to Men or Elves)

Fauns: the half-human half-goat residents of Andia’s wilderness, the Fauns are a mischievous and clever people. They have a deep love for music, and often enjoy toying with the minds of both mortals and demons. Yet sometimes, they can be very helpful and valuable allies. They usually travel alone.
The Fauns are known for their extreme hatred of the Centaurs. The two races have been battling each other for thousands of years (much like Men and Elves).

Centaurs: the half-human half-horse residents of Andia’s wilderness, the Centaurs have a deep love for alcohol, war, and rape. They usually travel in large herds. The Centaurs are a force to be reckoned with. They are famous for their extreme hatred of the Fauns, whom they have been battling for thousands of years.

Merfolk: these mysterious half-human half-fish beings are the most rare and treasured sight a mortal could lay his or her eyes on. Both Mermaids and Mermen are known for their unmatched beauty and even more beautiful singing voices. They are a peaceful people, and they have nearly become extinct. They say that Merfolk are capable of bringing luck to mortals. Merfolk, or course, reside in the sea.

Your Enemies

You shall encounter many enemies throughout your journey. These are some of the major enemies you will face. Again, not all enemies are listed here.

Shards: Shards are simply mortal men (both Humans and Elves) who have had their spirits replaced by the souls of demons. They make up the entire ICA, and follow the Immortal Commission without question. Yet some Shards serve the Immortal Commission as maids, butlers, architects, and advisors. Shards are far more intelligent and are physically stronger than common mortals. They can be distinguished by their black colored eyes, and they speak with a deep snake-like accent.

Immortal Commission Army (ICA): the Immortal Commission Army is a massive army of Shards who serve as the primal military and police force of the Immortal Commission. Each ICA soldier wears a very expensive gray overcoat, shiny black boots, black leather gloves, and black helmets and facemasks. Every soldier is extremely well-armed, and the ICA itself has hundreds of machineguns, jeeps, tanks, battleships, submarines, and airplanes at their disposal. They are an extremely powerful and dangerous force.

Immortal Commission: the Immortal Commission is the trio of demons that came to Andia from the Gloom one-hundred years ago. They govern the Occupied States of Andia and the Immortal Commission Army with total and absolute power. Each of these demons possess godlike strength, and they view themselves as undefeatable. Can you prove them wrong?

Lesser Demons: lesser Demons are the Demon servants of the Immortal Commission who were kept in Andia after the Immortal Commission conquered the world. They have a large variety of forms and powers.

Your Mission

You are one of the surviving mortals of Andia, currently living inside a large, run-down apartment at the heart of Empire City. Like many others, you are just waiting for the ICA to knock on your door and bring you to one of the concentration camps to be exterminated. But you cannot let this happen. Rumors are spreading throughout the mortal population. An uprising has begun. Whether you are Human or Elf, man or woman, you must join this resistance movement and destroy the demonic creatures that are occupying your world. You must send the Immortal Commission back in the Gloom and close the Spector in order to prevent them from returning. It will be an extremely difficult journey. But you must pull through…or mortal life itself is doomed.

You will start off relatively weak. Enchanted wrist irons that have completely drained your magical powers and kept you permanently fatigued have been locked onto your wrists by the ICA. Any wealth or power that you or your family previously possessed was taken away when the Immortal Commission conquered Andia. And, of course, you have not one weapon at your disposal.

Use this character sheet, mates.

Rules

This is the first time I’ll really be serious about the rules. Those of you who know be should be aware that I’m not a very serious nor mature person. But this is my most advanced roleplay ever, so I’m growing up for a change.

1. Standard RP rules apply.

2. You are free to do whatever you wish. But you do not control enemies when in combat. I contorl the results of your attack.

Good Example
Player 1 wrote:William drew his sword and swung at the gorilla.
Me wrote:The gorilla raised his arm to block the attack, yet the blade sliced through his flesh and dismembered his arm.
Bad Example
Player 1 wrote:William drew his sword and killed the gorilla.
3. I must accept your character before you RP.

4. Once the RP has begun, nobody can join.

5. Only 1 character per person.

6. Use good grammar. It’s not hard. Use a spell check. Reread what you’ve written before you post.

7. Have fun, and enjoy the RP!

Wow...

That was some opening post!

Very interested in joining, but before I submit, I have one or two questions:

1: What exactly is the point of including 'sexuality', and what do you mean by it? (And by this, I don't mean that I don't know what sexuality is.)

2: What do you mean by 'Biology'?
Because there's no fun to be found in being normal.

*Sees frost elves*
*can't help but make character sheet*

Name (first & last, please): Laeriel Caethernani

Gender (male or female, please): Female

Race (either Human, Moon Elf, Frost Elf, Drow, Woodland Elf, or Sun Elf; see above for information on each of the different races): LION Frost Elf

Height (use the metric system, please. If you don’t know how to use the metric system, find a converter online. It’s not hard, people.): 1.79832 meters >.> 5'9 feet

Weight (again, use the metric system): ...stupid metric system 54.4310844 kilograms <.< 120 lbs

Physical Appearance (use the information on the different races above for help or guidelines): Tall and rather slim, carrying every ounce of grace you might expect an elf to have. Her two sapphire eyes shine brilliantly, even moreso when reflecting the moon's rays. Her features are rather delicate and angular, her ears pointed and twitching at any loud noise. A short, neatly cropped amount of silvery blue hair falls over her face and into her eyes. Her complexion is very pale, and rather glossy looking. As far as builds go, hers is a duelist's - thin, fairly muscular, but simply dripping with dexterous finesse.

Clothing (think of the clothing a Jew would wear in a Nazi concentration camp. That’s the type of clothes your character is currently wearing. There are no rich people in Andia anymore.): She wears a set of tattered furs, black in hue, but they seem to have originally been an ice-blue. A tattered black hood generally obscures her immediate features, casting her elven visage into shadow.

Sexuality (please be mature about this): Yes please Straight, though with an open mind.

Biography (optional): Lae was born into a large and rather unfortunate family. With three sisters and four brothers and as the second youngest of the lot, she had a lot of siblings to put up with. Her mother and father certainly didn't have personalities as cold as their climate of choice. They kept low profiles, being sycophants to the ICA whenever needed in order to protect their children. Laeriel didn't ever know a stable life, her only security the comforting words of her mother as she told her they had a safe place to sleep for the night.

As Laeriel verged on the cusp of adulthood, her father eventually became enraged when his cousin was taken to one of the ICA's camps. Speaking out for one of the first times in his life, it resulted in his, his wife's, and three of his childrens' deportation to a concentration camp. Laeriel and her four remaining siblings managed to steal away before they were noticed. They tearfully went their separate ways after that, since a group of hungry looking frost elves was rather suspicious.

(Hope I did this right!)

Can we have a family? Or are we all alone? (As background characters, not travelling-with-the-heroes characters)

Also, no promises that I can stay if my new roleplay I'm planning is busy. But I'll try. :D

I'd like to point out the fact that sexuality's a weird category to include, but nevertheless, count me in!

Name (first & last, please): Hremai Xtershqond-Xtraktxdaun (For your service, the surname is pronounced 'Stirskrond-Stracksdawn´. I just like complicated names.)

Gender: Female

Race (either Human, Moon Elf, Frost Elf, Drow, Woodland Elf, or Sun Elf; see above for information on each of the different races): Drow

Height (use the metric system, please. If you don’t know how to use the metric system, find a converter online. It’s not hard, people.): 1.54

Weight (again, use the metric system): 49 kg and 291.5 grams.

Physical Appearance (use the information on the different races above for help or guidelines): (I'm going to guess that with white eyes you meant the irises.) Hremai is short, severely undernourished, leading to her weight being very low, and is blind on her left eye due being beaten by a group of shards. Her functioning eye is in a clear, crystal white eyes, irises almost undistinguishable from the eyeball, except being whiter and more shiny, almost silver-like. Her skin is typically ash gray, as most drows, and her hair is a dirty light gray, similar to the hue of a snow tiger. It dangles loosely around her face, as she has never bothered to cut it, making it reach her waist.

Clothing (think of the clothing a Jew would wear in a Nazi concentration camp. That’s the type of clothes your character is currently wearing. There are no rich people in Andia anymore.): She wears a tattered, dark red shirt and a similar colred, equally tattered skirt. She iwns no footwear anymore.

Sexuality (please be mature about this): Well... I'm going to keep it open for options and say Bisexual.

Biography (optional): Hremai is an only child, and her parents was taken when she was six years old. Ten years later, she bears an extreme hatred of the shards, also due to a group of them beating her to partial blindness when she was 12. At that time, she was lucky they laft her for dead and didn't bring her to one of the camps. She wants every single shard dead out of hatred.

Maybe I'll change it a little if background family is allowed, but that's beside the point.

I suppose so. But you might be separated from them early in the RP, so don't get too attached. :)

Alright, guys. We've got 3 Elven females. We should probably get a male or two...and perhaps a Human character as well.

I would also like to include the fact that you can have children with other players (because King Acunasti's whole Ayleid-Dremora thing in TDOK was quite entertaining). A Human infant spends 9 months in their mother's womb before being birthed, and an Elven infant spends 11 months. Female characters who become pregnant must continue their journey with the baby in their womb. At first, it won't make much of a difference. But as soon as that baby starts growing, your combat abilities will be greatly hindered and you will be endangering your child by entering battle.

Right. I forget to include that in the main post. Before the Kingdom of Benevia became the Occupied States of Andia, most mortal Andians followed a monotheistic belief system where they worshipped a higher being called "God" (creative, right?). But when the Commission conquered Andia, mortals were forced to worship Scelestus, Tormen, and Lucrenda as deities. Worshipping the old God is punishable by death.

Name (first & last, please): Ashriel Vega (Called Ash usually)

Gender (male or female, please): Oh, darn. Then Male.

Race (either Human, Moon Elf, Frost Elf, Drow, Woodland Elf, or Sun Elf; see above for information on each of the different races): Frost Elf. (Can't expect people to make human characters when Elves are present, you know. :P )

Height (use the metric system, please. If you don’t know how to use the metric system, find a converter online. It’s not hard, people.): 180 CM (You want to be European, fine. I can be European.)

Weight (again, use the metric system): 59 Kg

Physical Appearance (use the information on the different races above for help or guidelines): Pale skin, deep sparkling blue eyes. He has short curly blonde hair. He always sports a mischievous smile, and look, for that matter. Ash is 19.

Clothing (think of the clothing a Jew would wear in a Nazi concentration camp. That’s the type of clothes your character is currently wearing. There are no rich people in Andia anymore.): Ash wears a simble blue tunic and baggy pants, either with damaged sandals or no shoes.

Sexuality (please be mature about this): Um, bisexual? Sure, why not.

Biography (optional): Ashriel Vega comes from a long line of nobility up north, being a Frost Elf. The Vega clan were among the most powerful Frost Elves alive, until Spector Opened. The Vegas clan was all but destroyed. In the early days, when elfkind thought they could fend off these demons, almost all of the Frost Elves' soldiers had a Vega as a general. When the Shards hit back, he lost many members of his family. His uncle, three cousins, aunt, great uncle, and other aunt all died in battle against Shards. The only members of the Vega clan left were Ashriel, his father, Barvel, his mother, Schiana, and his grandparents, Felicia Vega and the Clan's Patriarch, Galven Vega. But when there was a raid upon the large Frost Elf settlement he lived in, his grandparents perished.

So, Barvel, Schiana, and Ashriel, the last of the Vegas, abandoned the tundras of the north for Empire City, where they suspected they could find safety. Unfortunately, when travelling, Ashriel (15 at the time) and his parents were ambushed by a pair of Shards. Unfortunately, Schiana did not survive the attack, but the wizard Barvel managed to kill the Shards quickly after.

Once they reached the Empire City, Barvel lost much hope after his wife's death and the next four years ages him greatly. He went from looking like a strong wizard (54) to an old man (You would guess he looked 80 by the time he was 58).

Ash, however, did not let himself be destroyed emotionally by the attack, and instead became sort of a trouble maker. He was always regarded as a prankster but now it seems as if he cannot be sad, he only is happy, goofy, and mischievous. He is trained to be a rogue and often goes out into the city to pull pranks on the Shards, with so much skill as to never get caught. He enjoys watching them struggle and making the Shards' life more difficult. Ash always considers Empire City hot and unbearable, plus he is not used to living as a pauper, being formerly a noble.

Barvel is a very religious man and does not approve of Ash's mischief, especially when his pranks are aimed at other members of the apartment. Barvel stills knows magic but has gotten weaker. He prays for his wife and family every day. Barvel is a wise, old-looking Frost Elf with wrinkled skin, light blue eyes, and shoulder-length white hair with some traditional braids in them.

Yes, there will be pre-screwed up life posts. :D

I would also like to add a few more things about Shards - the Shards are technically immortal. They never age, and they are capable of living forever. However, they can be hurt or killed by mortal weapons. Each Shard looks exactly like he/she did on the day he/she became a Shard. All members of the ICA are male. Yet female Shard servants, advisors, and other non-military workers do exist. Shards are capable of feeling affection...for each other, not for mortals. They are capable of reproducing together. However, Shards cannot reproduce with mortals.

And the subject of reproduction reminds me - Humans and Elves can produce offspring together.
