Continuing on my Yorkie: Seeing as it's getting warmer, we've given her a bit of a haircut- she's more adorable than ever. We were very lucky to pick up a pup like her from the humane society (I never buy from breeders), although I would have gladly settled for any of the dogs there. Yeah, I would absolutely recommend getting a Yorkie.
Anyway, has anyone here had any experience with ferrets? I was thinking of adopting one, as the local shelter just had a bunch of them come in.

My aunt has a yorkie.... It dosen't like strangers at all.
I like them....they're adorable
They need to trust you in order for you to touch them though
Ah... Ferrets. Believe me, I have had more animals than you can count. Ferrets are fun, lovable animals. But they can be quite the evil little buggers sometimes. They are highly intelligent and will probably sift through cabinets and such if they are loose around the house (which is fine, by the way. They can learn how to use a litter box and are much like dogs). They will bite, and can be quite annoying at times, but they are fun and lovable.
Thanks for the info. Not surprisingly, Google was of little help in my search; I stumbled across a multitude of vague personality descriptions stating facts such as "the ferret is an animal that is a whole lot of fun but requires attention". (This line is used to describe every single mammal by the average PetCo employee).

I have four cats (two American shorthairs, one A. Longhair and a calico) and two pugs
I'd love to have a ferret, I had a 'friend' bring one over and I asked to hold it. She responded by saying that it hates other people, bites them, claws them and won't let anyone touch it 'cept her. One *Just let me hold it* later and the thing loved me to death, climbing around on my shoulders and head, falling asleep while draped on my shoulders like a shawl and running on my shoulder opposite from anyone trying to take it off me. Thing was adorable.
I'm contemplating purchasing a Coatimundi. What do you guys think?
I realize they are a handful, and are like toddlers, but it is certainly handleable for me.

I never heard of that before......sure go for it if you really want it
I do know that males will try to kill you when they grow older. So I will definitely get a female. They seem to be pretty mellow. They have a tendency to... Explore your cabinets (At least I've heard).
I've missed my family's labradors alot since I moved out of home. Sadly one passed a way a few months ago far too young from a lingering heart condition caused by Tick Venom
My mother has parrots. Yes parrots. AND I HATE PARROTS!!!!
Anyway, it is illegal for me to purchase a ferret. I live in California, so escaped domesticated ferret can be competition for the local Black-tipped Weasel population.... or so the gov't says.

Funny that I found one of those wild weasels in my front yard a couple of years ago and I live in the middle of a city of little over 100,000 (not counting illegal aliens )

I like them, because they eat the damnable rats that infest certain areas of my city. It is sad that I hardly see them in the wild and they used to be quite plentiful in valley I live in, the same goes for badgers (mean hole-in-the-ground jerks).

After I move to my new home, I'm digging up the yard to make a koi pond. I'll toss some tadpoles up in the piece too, see if I can get some bullfrogs and koi chillin'. But for animals to be more pet-like, I'm looking at rottweilers and some kind of large bird.
Help me decide: do I get a parrot or macaw and teach it swears or do I get a raptor? Be kind of neat to have a falcon.
