that was not what I meant.. I meant I do not hope they'll be like the Oblivion gates... fixed my post now..Shadowscale wrote:Well we were told there would be different kinds of dragons and some may attack you in groups when you are doing god knows what so i don't think they will get boring soon.the Savage Hippie wrote: I mean... they are kinda like the new Oblivion gates... after you've closed the first 7 Oblivion gates - they become very boring IMHO and takes too much time to close.

Pretty much my thought.Amusei wrote:Did you actually notice the fact that Todd's character had 999 health?
And 500 something magicka??
He is playing with a super duper powerful character.
I honestly think this idea is funny, what they did.
Cause when the game releases people will be all like "Where are those wimpy dragons at?!"
Then when they find one, they will just charge at it. And die, very very fast.
Also, a group of guards were with the character.
Dragons are finite, so I'm sure they took into consideration that they should pose a nice challenge...And I also doubt the difficulty was max...So fighting one of those bad boys at 100 will be a real slaughter...For the dragon, not you. = )

I don't know, FireAcolyte, those guards looked like they were killed after about the first ten seconds of the battle. They seem about as useful as the Adoring Fan...
Anyway, I don't want dragons to be so tough that it's like I'm fighting Umbra at level five. But they're supposed to be like mini-bosses so they should be a challenge.

Lol, it may have been 100, but as long as they are a consistently decent challenge, I'll be happy with them.John117 wrote:I don't know, FireAcolyte, those guards looked like they were killed after about the first ten seconds of the battle. They seem about as useful as the Adoring Fan...

I'm pretty sure they are infinite... I saw a quote of Todd saying that... just lemme find it...Dragons are finite, so I'm sure they took into consideration that they should pose a nice challenge...And I also doubt the difficulty was max... So fighting one of those bad boys at 100 will be a real slaughter...For the dragon, not you. = )
EDIT: Found it. I can't link anything outside of uesp, anyway it was on Pcgamer, i'm gonna quote it.
Anyone who saw the dragon in the Skyrim trailer could be forgiven for thinking that dragons would only feature as occasional boss fights. That is not the case. Game director Todd Howard tells Norwegian magazine Gamer(dot)no that there will be “an unlimited number of dragons” in the game. They’ll be dynamically generated, and will be able to attack you almost anywhere.

As long as they aren't TOO difficult, they will be fine. I don't want to have to use every potion I have to beat ONE dragon.

They changed that? Last time I heard it was 150 or so, but I digress. I checked and it seems you are right. I'm confident though in their ability to not underestimate the player too much.Bonfy wrote:I'm pretty sure they are infinite... I think you are confusing that with the amount of dungeons that will be in the game.FireAcolyte wrote:They changed that? Last time I heard it was 150 or so

I do remember them being finite when it was first announced, but it doesn't matter, Howard said they are infinite; so that's what they'll be.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
I want to experience that 'gamer euphoria' that one gets after an extremely tough boss battle. All goes silent as your now raggedy-ass character stands there triumphantly. You can almost hear him panting.
When I think of this feeling, I think Big Sisters from BioShock 2 on Hard difficulty.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
According to a new interview that River just made a thread about, the first few dragons are rather easy as you've got guards and stuff fighting besides you, but when you get stronger you'll encounter more powerful dragons in more remote places where there's no one to help you.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
I think dragons will not be a difficult challenge. This will be just like Oblivion Gate of Skyrim. At first it will be quite entertaining but in the end it would only be annoying chores. Of course I hope I'm wrong

Also, from a scientific side, an arrow is much more likely to pierce the hide of a dragon than a sword. Pierced organs = death if not treated. Woo for physics and basic anatomy.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
Maybe maybe not Robot. By the Hundred's Year's War many forms of steel armor had been designed to deflect arrows, but a sword could still punch and hack through.
A dragon is a different story, but I am sure arrows will not do as musch damage as swords will.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
I suspect that the dragon fight in the video was scripted. He seemed to know where it was going to land and such. It'd also make sense to script it to make sure they show everything they want to show instead of leaving it to chance.
I'm sure the actual dragon fights will be pretty difficult.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
I just think the dragon fight in the video sees easy 'cause they're playing the character in "god mode" (that's what they said). I'm sure that ingame it will be a lot harder to down them as you will have less hp and do less damage.

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
Well considering Elder Scrolls has that difficulty meter, that should take care of the easiness to the dragons.. Those Dragons on Dragon Age are no joke however

Re: DRAGONS!...too easy?
The Dragon battles however, were a joke. Buffed health and three powerful moves. Not much else. As someone else said, dragon battles should be hectic, quick and difficult.Whi5k3y wrote:Well considering Elder Scrolls has that difficulty meter, that should take care of the easiness to the dragons..
