So I find this trainer and she tells me that in order for her to train me, I needed to go and find a plain ol' Elven Bow. Fine... I leave and proceed for the next umpteen hours to keep my eyes open for an Elven bow. Eventually, I pried one off of a dead clenched hand and happily ran back to find the trainer. The first time I looked for her I got a message saying she was dead. Well, bulls--- on that, so I reloaded. This time I found her fighting a bandit (which is what had probably killed her in the previous game) and I successfully help her kill it. When I caught up to her (she moves pretty quick), she 'notices' the Elven Bow and says something like 'good, now I can train you.' She promptly took off walking again and no matter how many times I engage her in conversation, I never get the trainer icon. So W T F ? ? ? Could it be that I am already too high to train? But if so, wouldn't I just get the same message in the trainer window saying that the trainer cannot do anything for me? Or did I miss a message saying that my Marksmanship level had increased (kinda like reading a book).

Hmm
Sometimes in Oblivion an NPC must be in a certain place in order for you to be able to access it's services. For example an NPC might need to be in its house for you to be able to buy things from it or train. If I were you I would wait 3-4 hours or so ingame, and then go find the NPC again.
