If you had to move to another country, what would it be?
If you absolutely HAD to move to a completely different country, what country would it be?

Germany.
EDIT (
): Because my roots are there. I am familiar with the culture and I have family there. I wouldn't be alone. I'm quite fond of Germany.

Re: If you had to move to another country, what would it be?
At the risk of backseat modding, these one word replies are exactly the thing we want less of around here.
I suggest to give the topic more depth so it doesn't get locked you should discuss your reasons for wanting to live in the country of your choice.
If I could live anywhere though It'd be New Zealand, the country is simply beautiful, and it has one of the highest standards of living in the world.
The only downside is that the internet is pretty poor out there, and the time zone doesn't really match up anywhere.

I believe a one word answer is acceptable. The question prompts one.

Hence why I offered a way to give more than a one word reply?mars wrote:I believe a one word answer is acceptable. The question prompts one.
Giving one word replies is basically spam, and a bunch of people simply posting the country they want to live in and nothing else isn't a discussion, it's worthless.

The thread isn't about discussion though is it? I was asked something and I answered. Anyhow, I've edited my post.Jillian wrote:Hence why I offered a way to give more than a one word reply?mars wrote:I believe a one word answer is acceptable. The question prompts one.

Re: If you had to move to another country, what would it be?
I have to agree with what Jillian said, can you people please explain your choices for the sake of your post being worthwhile?
The thread seems a bit pointless and spammy if you just write the name of the country and nothing else. You might aswell not reply at all if that's all your going to write. Let's be honest about it, no one cares about a one word post.
Also you should really be aiming for quality in your posts at all times, you shouldn't have to be told when to in all fairness.

I personally would move to Canada. Reasons? the law is a lot less strict on things. It seems to be a country more suited to the modern Western world.
The fact that everyone speaks English and French is pretty handy to, I have never been good at learning foreign languages...it's just one of them things I find impossible. For my Spanish GCSE (it was compulsory) I ended up just adding -O to the end of English words a lot of the time.
Everyone who I have met from Canada seems to be pretty chilled out to, I mean sure you get your morons but it's like that in every country unfortuantely.
The standard of living there is pretty high, and the scenery is suppose to be amazing at times. Plus I love snow which is big point in the grand scheme of things.
I haven't actually visited that many countries, we only ever went on a few holidays abroad and they where to hot countries. The baking sun does me in after awhile so i wouldn't want to move to one of them. I plan to go live in Canada for a few months in the future doing work at a hotel(or something similar) in exchange for free living. Can't remember the correct word for it...

Re: If you had to move to another country, what would it be?
I have been to a lot of countries over the years. I do have a plan, which I will execute eventually.
Currently it is Thailand. I have thought about Mexico & Argentina, but am currently looking at Thailand, but that may change over the next several years. Have to keep an eye on the politicial stability of the country.
It is an early retirement plan, which should happen between 50 & 55 years old for me. 50yo is when I can get a retirement visa for Thailand. 55yo is the earliest I can cash in on my two retirement plans... unless the laws for that changes.
I could go today, if it came down to it, as my Military Retirement would be twice of what I would need to cover expenses, but I figure I might as well add a bit more to my other two, and get a few more things in order. ...so somewhere in the next 4-10 years.

Watch for food though, Thai land had some interesting stuff.
Italy For me. Food, Scenic beauty, Probably near the Sea side.
I love Italian food, not to mention the culture and landscape of the country. Being near the sea would just be added plus, since I'd love to be in Rome.
Japan is probably next.

Scotland!
From what I've seen, seems like a beautiful place, could be wrong; but I always liked what I saw and the culture and history.

England or Canada.
I would love to move back to Canada (I was born there) and I have family in England and I love it there.

I would move to New Zealand solely to meet a kakapo. And the big forests look really nice too.
