Most of my inventory (if you don't count keys) is composed of potions. Since I'm not a mage (and unlikely to become one) I need them. Bad.
Before I go anywhere I have to be duly supplied with Restore Attribute potions, Restore Health potions, Rising Force potions, etc, etc. Otherwise I'm...lost...quite literally.

Daedra Prince wrote:I use them but mostly just for restore health/majicka and the odd invisiblity potion. I carry hundreds of potions but I never use them thinking I might need them later.
same here.... i decided to sell them all cause i wasn't using them anyway... i think this is because it is too complicated to in the heat of the battle go through all the available potions.
but a couple of those cure disease is good to have. eventhough there is a spell available - problem is cause it is quite difficult to cast it.

I generally have 1000 lbs of paper on me.

Feather potions. I love 'em. Getting high is one thing, getting light is quite another. There's nothing quite like having the weight of the world lifted quite literally off of your shoulders.
If you're carrying that many scroll, you've got to start using them as your primary attack. After I dump high-end stuff on an enchanter, I start blasting with scrolls in the very next dungeon I enter. You've got to stay on top of your inventory or it will stay on top of you.

well as u should know a strength potion is easy to make than a feather potion of same strength. I use tons of potions on my broken character. There my source of money there my source of strength there my source of intelligence and my source of luck. Potions ruin the game but i like games like that means i can enjoy it.

I can tell you from experience, if you make a potion of speed when your intelligence is over one million, DON'T DRINK IT!
It boosts your speed by over fifty thousand and you can't move for a second without ending up on the other side of the continent! Totally unplayable.
Other than that bit of sage advice, I use potions all the time. I play a Breton fighter mage with stunted magika. I can't regenerate magika without potions or getting attacked magically and absorbing what's cast at me. If I use the second option I need healing potions to stay alive while the other magic using critters hit me with spells.
I also boost strength whenever I have too much to carry and don't want to mess around with Almsivi intervention/Mark/Recall. I just use a potion that boosts my strength by a few hundred points for a few thousand seconds and carry whatever I find and I don't have to pick and choose what I want to leave behind.
Also, a potion that restores fatigue for several thousand seconds is really nice. Drink it at the start of a mission and you don't have to worry about fatigue being an issue when casting spells or swinging a sword.
I also use invisibility and detect key or enchantment and others. So, to answer the original question, yes, I use potions. Why else, besides boosting your intelligence to make enchanted items, would you work so hard to get your alchemy skills up?

Oh yeah, forgot one thing. As far as damaging weapons by using strength potions goes, if your strength is up around five or six hundred you kill what you hit the first time, every time, especially if you have found the ebony mine and gone to Vivec and gotten a daedric wakasashi, so you don't do that much damage to your own weapon fighting one or two opponents. I get my repair skill up to around fifty and carry a couple of hammers and have a bound weapon spell handy. If you don't like to waste time casting bound weapon as a spell, just put a few scrolls of bound blade of some type on a hot key, since scrolls cast a little faster than spells. Even if you could break a bound weapon, you just conjure up a new one. Alternatively you could either buy a sword of bound blade, or enchant your own. Which ever way you choose to do it, I haven't seen that weapon damage is a major factor when using strength potions, and I make some that boost my strength over twenty-five hundred.
As for strength potions being expensive to make; by the time I am making good strength boost potions I can afford the ingredients, and I boost my intelligence enough that the potions I make last so long that one potion usually gets me through a whole mission, especially since I don't drink the thing until I have already collected so much stuff that I'm over encumbered. By then most of the critters in the are area already pacified and I'm mostly just unwilling to leave anything that might be worth something behind.
Now if I could just enchant my own arrows to go with the amulet of bound long bow (170 seconds duration) I created, I'd be a happy camper.

It's cute when kids discover Alchemy.
Regarding giant magic steroid abuse: If you're going to Hulk out, don't bother with melee weapons. Carry a stack of silver darts and you'll be a human gauss cannon. Nothing will survive a single hit and you don't have to worry about repairing them. Silver is all you need to hit any creature in the game.
Sato Ord, the best part of the game is coming up: It's the moment when you discover for yourself that you don't want to carry all this crap around and you dump everything that you don't need. It's a very cleansing moment.

I've been playing for two years and I still haven't had that "moment".The Old Alchemist wrote:It's cute when kids discover Alchemy.

Yes, I use potions, especially to start with as they are relatively easy to find although not very strong at a low level of character.
If they are around, I will chug them down if needed. I was fighting the Goblins in Mournhold sewers a couple of days ago, and they will drop quality restore health potions (level 20+ or exclusive for level 40+) if you kill them quickly enough for them not to use it themselves. A good way of helping to deal with the ugly little buggers.

Someday you'll meet a nice girl and settle down and then you'll look around and you'll say to yourself, "Where the hell did all of this crap come from? How many friggin' teapots do we need? And what's with the extra pillows?"
I don't acutally carry and use all that much stuff. Of course I forget to sell a bunch of it all the time and you can't walk in the bed room of the Balmora Mages guild because of all the junk like orcish armor and daedric weapons I leave lying around.
As for not using potions. I don't think that day will come. I play a mage for a reason, if I just wanted to whack things with a big knife I'd play a Nord. I have to have the restore magika potions because of stunted magika, and I just get anoyed with the fatigue issue. As for strength, like I said, by the time I use that it's more because all of the critters have already fallen to my bound long bow or my magic, and I don't want to leave anything behind. Once I finish a quest it's off to see the scamp and unload that crap. I only carry enough potions to keep me healthy and happy, and I have about a half a million in gold at any given time once I get to about twentieth level. I'm that way in real life too. Not rich, but if I walk up to a vending machine to buy something I like to have the change in my pocket to make the purchase. Fortunately in Morrowind all that gold doesn't weigh you down.
As far as encumbrance goes, I usually head out with less than 140 out of a possible 500. I'm not weighed down with potions and scrolls.
