Shrouded Armor for a goodie?

Post by UltraWill »

Hey guys, first off, great site!

Second, I am a total good guy on my new game, but I would love to have the Shrouded Armor/Hood combo (From the Dark Brotherhood). Is there any way to keep my good name and get it?

Thanks!

The short answer is "No." To get the armor you have to commit a murder and then kill a guy named Rufio. THEN you get it. This will net you at least one, possibly two infamy points.

However, completing the "Pilgrimage of the Nine Divines" will erase all of your infamy. If you aren't familiar with that, it means visiting at least one wayshrine for each of the Nine Divines.

Or if you go through the Theives Guild once you have become the Guild Master you can use the hood you get and it wont add the infamy to your guy.

You can steal the Robe and Hood of the Black Hand from the homes of J'Ghasta (Bruma) and Alval Uvani (Leyawin, I think).
Or you can kill Lucien Lachance and steal them from him.

If you go through the thieves guild. you're sure to get infamy points
The wayshrines thing would be the best way. But i'm not sure if the "zero infamy" thing will work without plugin
Guard: Taste my sword!!!
Bandit: Hmm. Tastes like chocolat, is that right?
Guard: Unbelievable! How did you do that?:|

As far as I know, it won't.

@Butterknife:
He wants the shrouded armor, not the robes of the Black Hand.

One thing that is for sure, is that you don't have to do the quest to reset your infamy, you can do it even before you have started the quest. But I thought I remembered from another discussion that you didn't need the plugin at all to do it. Maybe I am wrong?

*Edit:
I was wrong  I read on the "Pilgrimage" discussion page on the wiki, and found this:

even then, guards still hate you just as much as if you still had your infamy. all it affects is ability to use the crusader's relics. npc disposition stays.

How does NPC's disposition matter anyways? By the touch of an Illusion spell, everything has changed....

I personally went through the Thieves Guild first thing in my game, then did the pilgrimage. After that I went through the Dark Brotherhood with the Cowl and never gained another point of infamy. I eventually got enough fame that it offset the 29 points of infamy "erased" by the wayshrines.

If you get the mehrunes razor plug in you can get a very similar item from the imprisoned Morag Tong Assassin. Bringing someone else wqith you to start the fight is pretty useful as this will ensure no infamy for you but he's a bad guy and has infamy points so killing him probably isn't considered murder! As long as you don't finish the dungeon you can walk away with this pretty cool outfit and not get any infamy points.

*Edit (again!)
I've been trying unsuccessfully to link and image but it's not working, search Morag Tong assassin in UESPwiki though and you'll find it.

The ONLY way to get infamy from MR is to SPOILER (eat the heart). Killing the Morag Tong agent won't gain you infamy, nobody with any responsiblity is around to report you.

Buy the Deepscorn Hollow download. After purchasing the living quarters upgrade you can find the Crimson Scar Raiment, and looks exactly the same as shrouded armor with better bonuses.

funny, the answer to many of the problems on here include "buy a plugin"

Give it to yourself using the console. If this feels like cheating, give it to yourself and take away a reasonable amount of gold using the console. If that's still too easy, fight your way through a dungeon and give it to yourself after you beat the boss (using the console).

But I guess you're probably on Xbox so you won't be able to do any of that. [sigh]
