PC Controls?
So, I play on the PS3, so I don't currently have access to the Construction Set. Purely out of curiosity, I got on the Oblivion Mods forum, and I was amazed by some of the threads. I'm thinking I might be playing Skyrim on the PC. My question is simple: what are the controls on the PC? Or just whether or not you can use a PS3 controller.
Re: PC Controls?
The controls take a little bit of getting used too, especially hotkeys, but it is worth it if you want the pc version

Re: PC Controls?
Personally I despise the PC controls which is why I'm primarily a console gamer, that and the cost of being a PC gamer. I'm almost certain a PS3 controller is out of the question, but I think a 360 controller is compatible, same company and all. If not you can always buy PC control pads that at least vaguely mimic PS3/360 layouts. I'll be honest though, I've used them and never quite gotten them to work, but a lot of people have so I imagine I was just doing something wrong.

I really don't understand why people don't like PC controls
Consoles are so...awkward when it comes to first person games. Anyhow, I searched a bit and found this. I don't know if it works or if it's dangerous for your computer though.

Re: PC Controls?
Because wasd hurts my wrist and using the mouse for very long hurts my other wrist. I can use a controller without feeling horrible pain in my hands. That and it's just more comfortable using a joystick.

Fair enough. If it physically bothers you I can understand it perfectly

Re: PC Controls?
I personally aim at least 50% better with a mouse. Plus my hands are huge so they easily cover the entire keyboard. Plus I like being able to have more choice in custom keybindings.
I also have a soft wrist rest, you may want one Cactus.

Thanks! I hadn't even thought to check the rest of the site
. Do you know of there is a PS3 equivalent to Xpadder? Or if Madcatz or somebody makes Xbox controllers shaped like PS3 controllers (I'm sure I've seen this reversed)?

Re: PC Controls?
Nevermind. I just checked out that link. Very much appreciated, mars. Anyway, 11-11-11 is still far off. My birthday is between now and then, though, so I thought I might look into it. Thanks for the help, guys!

...is genius. I wonder if I could rig that up to work with Morrowind..mars wrote:this

Re: PC Controls?
I can't get it to work at all. The controller will never actually turn on, and something I saw on another site suggests I either need to have BlueTooth on my computer or a dongle if I don't. I have neither, so...

Re: PC Controls?
PC controls can be fully customized. You can also attach console controllers, at the very least Xbox controllers, don't know about PS3 controllers for sure.
The defaults are: WASD to move, E to jump, Q to Autorun, Shift to manually control Run/Walk, Caps Lock to simply turn Run on or off, 1 - 8 are hotkeys for weapons, spells etc., Spacebar activates things, M1 is attack, Alt & M2 are Block, Z grabs things, tab or F1 - F4 opens your stats, Journal, items and spells, ` is the console, ESC opens the Main menu, F & Pressing M3 (Mouse Wheel) changes your view from first or third person, and M3 (Mouse Wheel) scrolls third person view in and out. F5 and F6 are Quick Save and Quick Load respectively.
Jeez, and that was all off the top of my head.

Re: PC Controls?
I never really got why console gamers always complain about PC controls, and vice versa. If you're a PC gamer, then you're going to generally feel awkward playing console games for a while. And if you're a console gamer, then it's easy to see why PC controls might seem a bit unwieldy and intimidating.
Personally, I've never had a problem with playing PC or console, but I most certainly prefer the former. The mouse has much more sensitivity than a gawky analog stick.

Re: PC Controls?
I use my PS3 controller on my PC very frequently, using the software mentioned above me. And you don't need a Bluetooth dongle. I just use a USB cable.
