The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
Hi, I'm fairly new to the forums so I almost expecting for this to get moved or shut down and I know it's still early to talk about this but I think that if we fans want to somehow influence Bethesda in their creation of new games, we might as well start right away.
Anyway here is may idea for the future of the series (with reasons):
This generation of platforms (PS3/XBOX360):
TESVI:(insert name) Alinor???
Set in the Summerset Isles would be my preference. I know Bethesda has wanted to do something here since finishing Daggerfall so why not. I would have to see what Beth does in Skyrim to make more detailed suggestions, but I'd like to see a more vibrant faction system like Morrowind's because this was a major draw of that game. As far as gameplay goes, I think Beth is on the right track although I'm not sure about the way they keep cutting down the skills list.
A remake of TESIII: Morrowind
I think that there is a market for this because many fans of the series were introduced to it by Oblivion. Because Morrowind is not on PS3 etc. many fans haven't experienced it yet or have had to put up with somewhat backwards graphics and what not. Beth could still breathe new life into the game by adding the mainland. Keep the original questlines with some tweeks and add a new questline for each Great House on the mainland to give us even more background on the Dunmer culture. Something like:
Hlaalu - something exploring King Helseth (I know there's Tribunal but I think there's still scope for this)
Indroi - explore the Tribunal Temple a bit more perhaps
Redoran - border wars with the Nords on the Skyrim border
Telvanni - just keep up the crazy Telvanni stuff from the original
Dres - slavery and skirmishes with the Argonians in the south of Morrowind.
Next Generation of consoles (PS4/XBOX720??):
TESVI and TESVIII:
A Black Marsh/Morrowind crossover discussing the region in the 4th Era (a lot seemes to happen in The Infernal City). There was obviously a reason why they let Keyes choose Morrowind specifically rather than another province. I've got two theories on that, either it's a way of writing a return to Morrowind out of the immediate future or a segue into a Black Marsh/Morrowind crossover. Let the player choose who to side with. Show us the decline of the old houses and maybe introduce new ones in their place or a new one to dominate the old ones and lead the Dunmer to victory against the Argonians (House Nerevar?? in honour of Indoril Nerevar and the Nerevarine).
Also a Valenwood/Elsweyr combination. This region hasn't been explored yet and both provinces are pretty small in comparison to the others (almost half size) so they fit well together. Anyway it's just something I might like to see.
Anyway, what do you think?

I really had your same pointof view about morrowind coming again.I am pretty sure they should do a revamp of TES3.. or something about the come back of the Dwemer...

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I think it seems like a logical choice, I mean there is a huge fanbase around Morrowind and there is a huge number of fans of the series who haven't been able to have much to do with it so I personally think it would sell really well and be a great Elder Scrolls experience. I would definitely love to learn more about the Dwemer to.taig84 wrote:I really had your same pointof view about morrowind coming again.I am pretty sure they should do a revamp of TES3.. or something about the come back of the Dwemer...

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I didn't want to double post, but what I've got to say doesn't really relate to the last post I made and I felt that while it could have gone in the first, for continuities sake it might be better here at the bottom of the thread. Mucro and I had a little discussion not long ago (http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=21606) that got me thinking about a possible all of Tamriel TES game that could occur a lot later down the track (at the moment it's my TESX). What do you think about a game in which the PC must re-unite the already splintered 10 races against the threat of a large scale invasion from Akavir? Alternatively, this could occur in one province where the player would just prevent the invasion by them-self, but the former is much more epic and could see the end of the 4th Era and the ushering in of the 5th. This assumes that in the games leading up to this one, Tamriel is not united again or is subsequently divided yet again.

Yeah the PC thing kinda goes without saying. Imagine, The Elder Scrolls without mods. I think I would die.

Yeah I know, but they'll probably screen them so we probably won't be able to get all the really game changing ones
. And it's still PCers who will make them

Just building on the Morrowind/Black Marsh idea:
TESVIII:
Setting: Morrowind and Black Marsh
Main Quest-line:
1. Decide ownership of Central and Southern Morrowind
· Align with either the Dunner or Argonians or remain neutral
· Take a hard line or soft line and side with correlating factions
· Either negotiate with or plan to attack your opposition
2. Travel to Moonshadow/Attribution's Share to plead with Azura/Boethia (while on the Dunmer side)
· Plead with Azura/Boethia for support and blessing
· Complete Azura/Boethia’s test
2. Utilise the Hist to support the Argonians (while on the Argonain side)
·
2. Continue Negotiations (If Neutral)
· Negotiate land deals
· Complete tasks for both sides
3. Complete Attacks/Negotiations
·
4. Rebuild Vvrdenfell [possibly an expansion – in which case, Vvardenfell would not be included in Vanilla release]
· Rebuild destroyed Dunmer settlements/establish Argonain settlements
Expansion
Setting: Morrowind and Black Marsh
Main Quest-line: Repel invasion from Akavir
1. Visit a site that was attacked by an Akaviri pre-invasion force
· Hear rumours about the attack
· Visit the site and track the attackers
· Eliminate the enemy force
2. Rally the Dunmer and Argonians to form a defensive alliance
· Visit both capitals to petition the leaders
· Begin building up a defensive force
3. Repel the invasion force
· Locate Akaviri plans
· Defeat the Akaviri invaders
· Confront Akaviri leader
Expansion:
Setting: Moonshadow
Main Quest-line
1. Revisit Moonshadow
· Hear rumours of Dunmeri priests attempting to open a new portal to Moonshadow in the hopes of redeeming the Dunmer
· Assist in the ritual and travel to Moonshadow on their behalf
2. Plead with Azura to lift the curse
· Locate Azura’s palace on Moonshadow
· Ask Azura’s forgivness on behalf of the Dunmer
3. Redeem the Dunmer and lift the curse
· Complete a series of tasks to prove the worth of the Dunmer

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I think they should do a game in every province (not including daggerfall) then doing games for each of the other continent of skyrim THEN make an uber-game (possibly MMO) which includes the entire globe. I've always wanted to play a 1st person mmo.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I was thinking something that would include all the remaining like:
Summerset Isles
Valenwood/Elsweyr
Black Marsh/Morrowind
Hammerfell/High Rock
All of Tamriel
or Alternatively:
Summerset Isles
Valenwood
Black Marsh
Elsweyr
Hammerfell
High Rock
All of Tamriel
Summerset Isles
Valenwood/Elsweyr
Black Marsh/Morrowind
Hammerfell/High Rock

I think the next one will either be Summerset Isle, or Morrowind/BlacK Marsh, followed by the one not done, and then an Akavir one.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I was reading this article, which sheds an interesting light on Bethesda's plans for the next generation of consoles. I think that TESVI will be on the next generation rather than the current generation from what I've read so that could mean that the next game is even bigger and grander than I might have thought.
Hopefully it will still be the Summerset Isles, but with amazing graphics and visuals befitting of the Isles and the beautiful Altmer cities like Alinor.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
Its hard to say what will be next, maybe we get a little hint in Skyrim.
Personaly I would like Summerset, but Summerset would be a high fantasy setting like morrowind was and it seems that Skyrim has a more solid low/mid fantasy setting like oblivion. So it can be that they would make the next one also a normal fantasy setting which would say NO to summerset.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I just wanted to point out, in Summerset's favour, that Bethesda likes to mix things up which is why Morrowind and Oblivion differed and their respective expansions differed too. Morrowind(high)/Bloodmoon(lower), Oblivion(low)/Shivering Isles(high). Skyrim is said to be in the middle of Morrowind and Oblivion, but tending towards Oblivion and low fantasy. That doesn't mean that Bethesda wont turn around and say "enough low fantasy, lets go to the Isles". They've wanted to do a game there for quite a while since after Daggerfall. TESIII was originally planned to be set on Summerset and named 'Tribunal'.

TES VI: Aldermi Dominion
Valenwood + Summerset
that could be really nice and would have some very different regions, I would like to see the moving cities of Valenwood. As you said before Duruza it could get even bigger which opens the option that there will be 2 provinces in one game. But I doubt that TES VI will come out before 2014-1015, long time to wait and speculate

Yeah, I can't wait already and we haven't even got to Skyrim
.
I would like to visit the Aldmeri Dominion and see the Thalmor in greater depth, but I'd also like a full on Elves v. Khajiiti confrontation. Three provinces in one game would be too big wouldn't it? (What if Summerset was an expansion, still too big?)

I hope they may eventually work their way around to making a game that covers the whole of tamriel, that would be amazing, but probably too huge.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
I am hoping for a summerset isles one next, but I really hope they continue to make these for a long time. If I have children who get addicted to TES, I would be the happiest man ever. But either way, it's a franchise that can go on strong for a while.
And just a little side note, considering only dragonborn in TES V can do dragon shouts, in future TES games, they most likely would have to do something epic to match dragon shouts without having to do them wouldn't they? Otherwise it would feel like they are going backwards would it not? Maybe some crazy additions that rival dragon shouts from the Psijic Order?
Sorry about off topic rant, either way I think the futures bright, I just hope the fallout series doesn't produce too long waits for the next TES..

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
Sorry for the necropost, I hope it's okay, this thread is interesting
.
I think that it'd be cool if Beth did a couple of games on the same engine, and let us join them together. So say TES5 6 and 7 use the creation engine, we can play them together, so we get 3 provinces at the same time, but we have to buy all three games, and they are all separate games. Would that work at all?

It sounds like a pretty cool idea, I have no idea on the technical side of things though. It would be fairly special to be able to visit all of Tamriel, or at least a fair chunk of it at once, although I don't think we'll see all 9 provinces in a game again, at least not in the this day and age.

Re: The Future of The Elder Scrolls Franchise
What would make me happy most is a box set of morrowind, daggerfall and arena, available on steam. Also, I like the idea of making a series in elsewyer. Just imagine, the kahjit/argonian rivialys could make a good story and I want to see a treetop city. Also, I want one set in the middle of an ocean; A collection of isles. Why? Because I think sailing fits in well with the Elder Scrolls franchise.
