Hi,
I just started playing Shivering Isles, and have found myself in a bit of a pickle.
I am currently infected with the Vampirism Virus, max level I believe, and in my game play I was leaving a cave> I think I am in Belara or Belava, something along those lines, and for some reason, despite my saving efforts, the game has save me upon my exit of the cave into daylight, and as soon as I spawn I die. What can I do? It does not look like any of my other saves are here, except for my level one save, but I am on level four now and nearing level five, and I do not want to lose this progress so far.
Can anyone suggest anything that would help?
Thank you

Well, if you dont have any other save, i would say that its the end of the road. Start that level 1 save. Sorry mate, but you should've made more saves. If you are on the PC you can "cheat", but on the consoles....

I'm not sure what you can do here, are you sure there are no autosaves?
I always back up my saves and utilise the quicksave (F5) and autosave features. Having a Portable/External Hard Drive helps with backing up. You might just have to start again, and if you do I'd create regular backups and use multiple saves for the same character (i.e. name1, name2 etc.).
But, don't give up, try to get back in that cave if you can and hopefully you'll be lucky this time around.
But, formalities aside, welcome to the forums Jacklyn. If you feel up to it, go on and introduce yourself to the family. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.
Final note, this really belongs in the 'Oblivion' forum.

Spam the journal hotkey(Circle?). Use Health Restoring potions if you have any and run back into the cave. If you're dying pretty much instantly, there's nothing you can do. If you do manage to work things out, I advise that you disable auto-save and save regularly instead.

Yes. Unfortunately, games, being computer programs, can get themselves into perfectly logical knots sometimes. If you save when you have almost zero Health and ONE more hit of damage will kill you, it's near impossible to avoid dying near instantly on every reload. The solution is usually to reload from an earlier savegame. If you don't have one, the only solution is to restart the game.
Oblivion's Sun Damage is applied per second. If 1 second elapses between reloading and the next Sun Damage hit, you have a chance. If you hit the Journal button/key within 1 second, you pause the game. You can then drink Restore Health potions if you have any. If you get your Health high enough, you can beat a hasty retreat back into the cave, then heal fully.
As everyone else has said, don't rely on autosave. The game saves every time you go through a door that triggers "loading". This can potentially cause the near instant death scenario described in paragraph 1 above. Always keep backup saves.
Personally, I'm on PC with autosave disabled, as I find the delays it causes going through doors too annoying. I do a full save immediately after every level-up, before entering a dangerous area, or making a quest decision. In between those times, I quicksave fairly frequently, about once every 15 minutes or so. If I do something wrong, I always have a "restore point". Once I know I've done things right, I delete everything except the save after level-up. I also quicksave immediately before sleeping to level up. If I've chosen the wrong attribute bonuses, I can simply reload and sleep to level up again.

Hi Again,
Thank you so much for all the responses and ideas. I will certainly attempt all as soon as I can, and fingers crossed I can make it through.
Thank you again, It is really great to have a forum of Oblivion people to talk to about the game.
