Will-O-Wisp

Post by Pikkon »

So i had my first enounter with the will-o-wisp.
I'm having trouble killing it, as it drains my health faster than I can damage it. Anybody know its weaknesses?

You need a magic weapon. Ordinary unenchanted weapons can't harm it.

Run away! RUN AWAAAY!!
(and i f you dont know thats a quote from Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail: be ashamed! :x )

as far as i can recall: no weakness, only strengths.
immune to normal weapons
has strong absorb spells

so, if u cant kill it fast, YOU ARE DOOMED! (unless you are a smart victim and run)

why isnt there a killer rabbit in oblivion!? (yup, Search for the Holy Grail again :D )
A single dedicated mind can cause about the greatest destruction. That, or goblins, goblins work too.

Maybe it is because I am sign of the Atronach, but Will-o-Wisp are not overly difficult. You need a silver, daedric, or magic weapon do and if you have one that absorbs magika then they die pretty fast.
I will not conform to my enviornment, rather I will change it and mold it to my desire.

As was said, you must use a silver, daedric, or magical weapon to damage them. Bows are effective because you can run backwards while putting a volley of arrows in them. If you must engage them in melee combat and can't seem to effectively damage them, just make sure to constantly keep moving in and out of range as opposed to standing there and just hacking.

Hit strong and hit fast. Take its health faster than it can regenerate. Just use the best you have. Enchant some sword with lots of damage over short time or use very powerful destruction spells.

Whose buttocks sounded sonorous tunes
‘Twas an odiferous song
People sang before long
They had enough of his full crescent moons.

I haven't really ever had trouble with these guys. I keep a silver longsword around to deal with them and with ghosts. My character is very focused and, in combat, is really only good with heavy armor and bladed weapons, but he's REALLY good with them. When I see a Will 'o Wisp, I just rush up and bash it. I keep moving while I do, and I've never had to run away.

Best way i find is to use daedric claymore- mine has 20pt shock but thats kinda trivial- sneak behind them, whack em, whack em again then loot up!

20 shock damage is hardly trivial.
