Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Everything is happening at once in the Middle East this year. I did NOT expect this headline to appear on the BBC News feed on my homepage when I woke up this morning. I actually did a double-take then nearly swore loudly which would have been a bad idea (it's 8 in the morning and everyone else is asleep.)
Is this meant to be witty, informative or deep? I doubt I can manage all three.

It sure beats the Royal Wedding for a headline.

I also think "Where were you when Osama was killed" is a bit more interesting than "Where were you during the royal wedding".Veck wrote:It sure beats the Royal Wedding for a headline.

Some are saying it happened a week ago so maybe they delayed the news because of the wedding?ChaosDawns wrote:Talk about out of the blue, good thing this happened after the royal wedding.
I'm just surprised that this thread exists. When I first heard the new I wanted to start a thread like this but wasn't sure that it wasn't to political.

Oh man, I was at a massive party last night. I suppose non-Americans are looking at our whole country having one big kegger like we're weird. We kind of are! Party from the White House Lawn to Golden Gate!

This sort of thing is not what you expect to see when you turn on your computer in the morning. Good riddance, he sucked.

Shocking that we got him in a crowded city.
Even better that our own Navy Seals administered the killing blow. Was shot once in the head.
I was on a hockey forum last night and people started going crazy.
and he was buried at sea. No shrine or grave for people to remember him by. Good move by the US

What? what did we do wrong? This was the best case scenario for the US. He did not need to be taken alive, we did not need some lenghty trial. No court on earth could do justice to what that man did.

Here it was. This man ordered the killing of THOUSANDS of americans. If we hadn't of killed him, the courts would have given him the death sentence. Not to mention the navy Seals that did it were in the middle of a firefight. Osama was fighting back. its not like they shot an unarmed man.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
No it wasn't. In my opinion killing is wrong. I'm not saying that he should go unpunished nor that he should be handled with care. But killing is never the option. Sadly killing cannot be avoided.
And how about all the citizens that americans killed in war? Or citizens that generally die in war, regardless of the nation who killed them.

So what would you have suggested? Prison? For the man that ordered the killing of thousands of people, and then took pleasure in it? and what about the rest of the world? America isn't the only country he committed crimes against
unbelieveable that people are painting america as a villian for killing the worst mass murderer of this decade, in a firefight no less. hard to take him alive when he is SHOOTING AT YOU

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
You think too much about good and bad. Every country can be bad. I'm german. Don't you think I carry the burden that Hitler put on my ancestors backs? I have been the subject of violence because of it. Every country can be good. It's not about good and evil. It's simply about life. I don't think anyone has the right to kill another human. I'm not saying this because I support bin Laden or any other person that has killed. Anyway, I don't want to talk about this. It makes me sad and angry and my arguments will probably make no sense.born2beagator wrote:mars wrote:No it wasn't. In my opinion killing is wrong. Dude. it was part of war. Osama was shooting at our troops. Our troops shot back and killed him. War is not right, but sometimes it is unavoidable, that is the world we live in

I'm agreeing with born2beagator, I think that man deserved nothing less than a bullet to the brain. I agree with you, mars, that killing is not always the best option, but sometimes it's a necessity.
Again, that man did nothing to ease his punishment.
Why show him mercy when he has killed thousand after thousand of civilians. He clearly showed them no.
Also, Osama was not only a threat to the USA, he was a threat to a lot of the world.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is dead.
Don't misunderstand. I'm glad the [&@%!] is dead. What I am trying to say is that none of this is right. Not the Al Qaeda killing and not the US killing. Or any killing.born2beagator wrote:Dude. it was part of war. Osama was shooting at our troops. Our troops shot back and killed him. And don't get me started about who is a threat to who. We humans are capable of rotting out our kind as long as we have the right 'reasons'.
Anyway we should stop. No need to get this thread locked.

Gentlemen, Osama was killed because he resisted all attempts to take him alive, There, debate over.
No arguments.
