I ran into problems with running this game on a FX5700 Ultra, and upgraded recently to an ATI x800 GTO. Since I had to make so many changes on my PC to make this game run with my first card, I decided to reload windows and start from scratch. Once I finally got back to where I could install and play I came across a strange problem… it won’t let me save. In my previous build the game save files were in “my documents\my games\oblivion”, I had to create the “my games” folder this time around and then put in the saved games from the first build. When in game if I hit esc then save it returns the message stating that it did save, but when I go to load it, there are no saves.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hmm
I don't know if this helps, but you have the filepath for saves slightly off.
The correct filepath is: My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/Saves
As opposed to: My Documents/My Games/Oblivion

What i did before the reload was make a copy of the whole oblivion folder. When i installed the game it did not make that path at all (i.e when i opened my docs, there was my music and my pictures in it and nothing else.) So i then created the 'my games' folder and pasted the oblivion folder in it. All of the game saves should be in the correct spot.
I dont know why it didnt create the my games folder to begin with... I have also uninstalled it and reinstalled it since this issue appeared, with no luck.

Hmm
Oblivion doesn't create a savegame folder until you actually save a game. So if you looked before you had saved anything, there wouldn't be any folder there. I suggest doing this.
- 1. Goto My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/Saves
2. Pick which saved games you would like to keep and place them elsewhere
3. Uninstall Oblivion completely, including all folders
4. Reinstall Oblivion and start game, start a new game quickly, save it, and exit
5. Goto My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/Saves and you should see your saved game
6. Take your old saved game and paste it into the folder with the new saved game

I figured out the fix to my issue... kinda stupid on my part...
The reason why it wasnt creating the correct path for the save file is because of the user account i was using. When windows came up for the first time i entered in a goofy name (i.e specifically ↕‼☺☼☺☺}è), without thinking about profiles and other limitations of windows.
Anyway, thanks for all who helped, but no one would have been able to solve this for me.
