Some questions about extra content...

Post by TJC »

I went to a local gameshop yesterday and I got told they won't have Shivering Isles retail disc in Holland (where I live)... So I figured i could put my 360 downstairs for 1 day, download Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine and then put the 360 upstairs again...

But since all the other downloadable content need to be played online, does Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine have to be? (question 1)

And another, if you buy the GOTY edition, will you be able to play with a previous character? Because I'm figuring out how to get Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. But I still don't know if you will be able to play with a character you were playing on the normal oblvion disc. So you only need to install the expansion or what? (question 2)

Many thanks.

So, the answer to question 1 is no... You can't play it offline, what the hell...

So I'll have to buy game of the year, but does it load your old saves?

The GOTY shouldn't have any problems with your old saves, but if you have items from one of the other DLC's they may dissappear(this is just a guess on my part).

As for the other question I have no idea.

I have a 360 and all the content I have downloaded is playable offline, where did you hear that you needed to be online? It should not be any different because you live in Holand I think.

all dlc, once it is on your hard drive CAN be played off-line. I've done it.

and I'll bet money that the GoTY edition will be compatible with your old saves

so, there is really no need to worry.

I've actually been having some problems with this lately. My 360 died on me and had to be replaced, but rather than downloading all my stuff from scratch I just kept the hard drive from the original system. Now, I've had to do this before when my FIRST 360 died on me (I'm now on my 3rd system) and didn't have any problems. This time, though, none of the DLC wants to work when I'm offline.

In fact, NONE of the downloads I have for ANY of my games wants to work offline. Anyone have an idea as to why this is??

I downloaded KotN, SI, and MR and all three are playable offline. Hell, I haven't even hooked up Live since then.

Actually I found out that switching machines is the problem. Apparently the DLC requires 30 days to reset the license to the new machine. So in 30 days time if I reconnect to Live then the downloads should be re-registered to me. At least that's what the tech support guy told me.

Strange. I heard so many stories about it's not playable offline even without switching harddrives... I think savest bet is just buying GOTY...

Many thanks for the quick responses. :D
