Hey there

Post by FaceInTheCrowd »

okay so i'm new. count this as an introduction i guess.

I've never played any of the ES games before playing Oblivion on the 360 a while back, and since then i've been completely converted to a total fan. i've never played a game so awesome and tbh, addictive.
but anyways. you don't want my life story. i just had a couple of questions really.

seeing as how i can't play anything on my laptop atm, tho i should be getting a new PC soon...

...would anyone recommend me hunting down Morrowind for the XBox? i've heard it's pretty good but don't know what it's like on console tho.

and how into roleplay do people tend to go? i know all about the "levelling problems" but i never encountered it in any of my later characters..and i was letting roleplay go ahead of stats (ie. choosing The Shadow for an argonian birthsign..it really does suck but i felt it made the character more fun) but yeah thoughts on either would be nice lol

Hey back at ya...

I've never played Morrowind on X-box, but is shouldn't be much different from PC. Morrowind is definately just as good (some may say better) as Oblivion.

I mainly Role Play my characters. You can role play, and still get good stats.

Morrowind was a bit different, at least to my memory; It seemed as though you could MISS with your melee attacks while your foe stood there. Maybe it's just my poor memory, but I know that I wasn't sold to the point of buying Oblivion when it first came out. I waited a while before trying it.

yeah i know you can roleplay and get great stats, but i'm constantly reading about the levelling curve messing up peoples characters and forcing people to power level. and i disagree. i much prefer to roleplay characters( to a degree, i'm not so hardcore as some) but adding your own rules to the game make it alot better sometimes IMO. hence i can't wait to get a new rig and start using certain mods but meh.

anyways, bit of a rant. as for morrowind, it seems most people think it's alot more immersive plotwise than oblivion and i thought oblivions plot was pretty immersive so obviously i've gotta give it a go lol

oh and i know this is random but how on earth do you people come up with names for chars?!?! time after time i get stuck creating awesome characters because i can't think of names, and as you might be able to tell, i'm kind of a perfectionist when building lol

I never got far in Morrowind due to not hitting anything, so I'm not too familiar with the plot in-game.

As for names....I just named him Stan Marsh, as I'm a big fan of the show.

I guess my problem is that since I am playing the game, I know I couldn't get into being, "Dortho Hackabackerwackertacker" Or whatever absurd name I think of. I just imagine it's me, but at the same time, don't name it after myself because I'm not actually in the game.

I know, I need help.

haha nah i know what you mean...tho i've never named a character after myself, i do find myself getting a far too much into the characters "mind" occasionally. but hey, it makes things more fun every so often lol

I don't have a problem going with Bob the Orc... :P

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:People You could read through the page on people, and just make variations of those in game names.

Anybody know if Morrowind is backwards compatible? (or forwards compatible I guess is the right term as its old and 360 is new) I sold my xbox when I upgraded to 360 but some xbox games work on 360 and others don't.
